  1. that BEP song is utterly dismal, can't believe anybody actually pays money on ITunes to buy that :puke2: should just buy the original that it samples from which is miles better then again Bird is a dire song as well
  2. it didn't really have the support of the official Biffy forums which might have pulled it up a bit, majority there didn't really care despite the discussion about the XF version being inferior which is obviously true

two problems with "When We Collide" for me are why does Cardle sound like he's on helium for most of the song, I know it's the usual "Cowell-sounding production" but it really does sound like a female is singing the song unless that's the autotune or something and that key change that has to be in nearly every X-Factor song just really cheapens the song. In the original, the song soars with vocals sung by the other members of the band and I know Matt isn't in the position to do that, so why not use a choir or something? the key change with "Christmas bell" sounds is just far too cheesy, not sure why Cowell continues to tell his band/artists to do this it's not really that bad a cover but those two things I mentioned make the song vastly inferior to the original which isn't a classic Biffy song as I've said but it's still quite a good one
  4. I liked the song in question but I thought Sum 41's best stuff came when they did Chuck as it's a very underrated album. Shame they didn't continue with that heavier sound in the next album which wasn't that good at all (Underclass Hero)

considering you had to pay £3-4 for the CD, I guess campaigns weren't so "plastic" (is that the right word?) as they are now when it's some faceless person on a Facebook group going on about multibuying a song so it can beat a reality TV contestant. Back then it was people actually going out to buy the singles so there wasn't as much multibuying as you can do on with computers nowadays There was a face behind the RATM campaign for last year but it was pretty much as plastic as the ones this year when it was just people multibuying a song to do the exact same. I might like the song but I couldn't see the point in downloading it 10-20 times and wasting money like that

was the Teletubbies similar to what happened a few years later when Eminem - Stan was stopped by a media campaign of "who wants this song at No1 when you can buy Bob?" by stuff like The Sun who basically kept pushing it as the alternative. Then again it did beat Westlife which was slightly amusing when they thought they were going to breeze to the top spot then again I can't really see where the campaign could come against the Spice Girls, I'm guessing it was just the popularity of Teletubbies that year

did "No Way No Way" seriously get to No14? at least people nowadays are paying about 50p-£1 to download rubbish off ITunes but that would have been people actually buying physical CD copies of that for about £3.99. The thought boggles the mind to think that anyone could actually like that and enough to get it that high in the chart at Christmas time when CD sales are usually quite high (well at that time anyway) I just wonder if that was pulled along by some sort of campaign like we see nowadays, possibly to stop the Spice Girls in those days or something

people behind the campaign were fine because they were the publicity side of it, the Facebook was full of people who were annoying though. Kept pestering radio stations to play the song and then calling them every name under the sun when they didn't it was a good campaign though, did buy a copy myself despite already owning the first RATM album, wouldn't go overboard like the multibuyers though

if you are probing towards the point of Joe and Matt's sales, then you could also say that The Climb oversold last year due to the RATM camapign as it probably never would have got 450k without the multibuying and all the stuff that went on but then again you could also mention the factor of the snow on the Friday and Saturday which decreased the possiblities of physical CD sales which could happen this time around. The only thing you can guarantee is that nobody will be that close to Matt's sales compared to last year's No1 and No2

it seems to be more the people on Facebook than any people on the official Biffy forums, majority there are steering clear of it because they don't really see the point. Of course plenty think the cover is inferior, his voice doesn't suit it and that key change just really cheapens it, but there isn't any "lets beat the XF" threads on there with the only thread really just being a discussion one shocked that the XF would use a Biffy song as the winners one I expect the guys from Biffy probably knew this would cause a backlash with "fans" and have people campaigning to put the original song in the charts but the band themselves haven't exactly encouraged anything like that

even any "normal" person wouldn't believe them (going by yesterday's spreadsheet figures if they were true) - Matt Cardle is still stuck on 166k despite having a sizeable lead on ITunes and his phyiscal CD release yesterday, Biffy Clyro have lost 1.3k sales despite being No5 for most of the day yesterday on ITunes and BEP have somehow found about 50k sales in one day despite being stuck behind Biffy until later in the day surprised somebody actually said they were still No3 though, guess you had to make it realistic and not say Bird was about 300k ahead. I can't see any disqualifying for "multibuying" but I'd disqualify the track because it's a pile of rubbish if it was me and of course because of the meltdown it would cause
  13. Gerry1975 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I think it might be worth watching that for the next 15 minutes when they meltdown after Greg James says the song is at No3 :D "Radio 1 are lying, they are part of the Cowell media to stop the bird"

despite having my reasons for not thinking the Biffy campaign is worth it, that's some conversion percentage they have for Facebook members there if those spreadsheet figures are correct. Think there is about 48k members on the Biffy Facebook page and that's 22k sales which might see the Biffy song get top 5 before the end of the week which would be nice comparing the Bird (600k+) with it's 35k sales which are just pitiful

http://betting.betfair.com/specials/xfacto...num-151210.html - they keep posting this on the Facebook page I see :D no mention from the article writer that RATM were ahead for the whole week last time around, nice "selective" facts. For the amount of Facebook members on that site, their sales figures are quite dismal which probably says that people aren't bothering (because they've seen the first midweek flash) or they just "liked" it because they hope it will win but didn't have any intention of buying the single. Personally I think the song is absolutely terrible if you are comparing it to a metal classic like KITN and I reckon Cardle should easily win this race by about 5 or 6:1 which is poor considering the 600k members on that page. I wonder why Mills changed his mind this year with reference to backing a single, I remember plenty on the RATM Facebook page trying to get him to play Killing In The Name but he was flat out refusing, yet he's backing this pile of rubbish against what you'd have to say is a better XF song than the one he liked last year
  16. fully agree with this, especially the part about MOH and the original release of it. Not really any interest in buying a song which I bought originally in January when the EP was released on ITunes just to "stop" another version of the same song getting to No1 because it's an inferior version. The song was A-Listed on Radio 1 and Radio 2 and was promoted enough for it to enter higher than it did but these "campaign" people obviously didn't bother to download it and now it's "we must do this to stop this song" but they say it's to promote Biffy's creativity rather than stop Cowell and his song. Personally I don't really think it's a Biffy classic song and I usually download the EPs so I can get the Biffy b-sides which are usually quite good so I'm not too bothered about the song being covered. The guy seems a nice guy even if his voice doesn't seem right for the song and that key change which just cheapens the song but I'm quite glad that they've decided to use a good song for once compared to the sort of thing XF usually covers the only thing I can say is it's going to be a very nice Xmas for Simon Neil and his family, the amount of royalities should be very nice indeed ;)
  17. never mind his physical sales which will be massive, I reckon Cardle would win this easily on downloads anyway. There isn't a RATM competitor this year which will sell 450-500k and going on the voting figures, I expect much more than the RATM 500k figure is probably needed this year to have a chance consistently the top rated contestant says he's going to have much more fans than last year's winner
  18. hopefully Biffy can keep enough momentum to get the original song into the top ten on Sunday, that's pretty much where the original deserved to be anyway when it was first released as for the winner's single, as a Biffy fan for a number of years I'm not really too bothered about it. The guy's voice is typical Cowell and they've introduced the usual key change into the song which always seems to be the formula for a Syco song. I wouldn't say he's destroyed it as the song was never really a Biffy classic to start off with anyway, if he started touching stuff like Justboy or older stuff then I might have had a problem wtih it it will gain Biffy more exposure than they could ever dream possible in the UK and I doubt they'll have too many problems accepting the royalities which are gonig to be quite massive it looks like :D
  19. thought Serj's album was one of the disappointments of the year :( as mentioned it's nowhere near like his first solo album but the 3 tracks I heard before it came out were so much better than anything else on the album unfortunately. Shame as I absolutely loved his debut solo album but I'm not sure if it was experimenting a bit too much or the songs were just of poor quality I guess that's why SOAD are restarting again next year as Scars On Broadway didn't do too well either
  20. noticed this news a few days ago, was listening to the self titled album and Toxicity earlier. Only time I've seen them live was 2nd on the main stage before Metallica at Leeds in 2003 and it wasn't that impressive if I'm honest - although Metallica were awesome that night so that's probably why I was a little disappointed with SOAD would love some new material from them as well, as much as I like Mezmerize/Hypnotize, I'd rather an album in the style of the first two albums with Serj taking on the majority of vocal duties rather than Daron

it might flop in the UK where three boybands lead the album chart, but he'll almost certainly open big in the US which is probably where he cares more about the album sales. MCR will do better in the US as well although they should get top ten at the end of the week here
  22. available to listen to now in the usual places, it's on Youtube as well as they had an "live album transmission" on their website last night. anyway, don't expect The Black Parade part 2 here and don't really expect any of the previous albums to sound like this. This is definitely an album that needs to grow on you as the listener won't instantly love half of the songs I reckon. I wouldn't say it's their best stuff after hearing 2 or 3 times but I'm enjoying the majority of the songs and how they've changed their sound. The only real problem I've got with the album is there isn't anything like The Sharpest Lives or Thank You For The Venom on there Na Na Na and Vampire Money (at the end of the album) are probably the only straight up rock/punk songs on the album. Everything else seems to sound like it's had influences from the 80s, a lot of synths and guitars in the songs but they are typical My Chemical Romance without sounding like them if that makes sense . Good album if not as good as any of the previous 3 from first impressions, maybe I'll have a different opinion if asked next year or something though It actually sounds a bit like Green Day did with their last two albums. American Idiot was their concept album with the theatrics as My Chemical Romance had with The Black Parade then Green Day came out with 21st Century Breakdown with which they tried out different sounds but still made it sound like a Green Day album. This album has experimental attempts at songs but it still sounds like a MCR album favourite tracks are probably Bulletproof Heart, Planetry (Go!), Destroya, The Kids From Yesterday and Vampire Money. Although I do like the songs that leaked before like The Only Hope For Me Is You etc
  23. pretty much a lot of posts on this subject within this forum but I couldn't really care less. If Cowell wants his No1 spot, then let him have it. The UK No1 spot has practically no prestige nowadays anyway, majority of the 2010 No1 songs have been rubbish. When I was a kid, the Christmas No1 spot was a prestigious thing but nowadays it's a 3 month campaign to get some nobody who has some singing talent to the top and then try to make a career out of them or drop them when their first single after the X-Factor promoted one flops these "campaigns" are pointless because it's already been done before with the RATM one last year. That was good because it was the first time somebody has really attempted to do something about the XF and they used the internet as a tool to help with it. Campaigns after that are just jumping on the bandwagon and I don't really think anybody cares if the XF wins or not now. None of the Christmas No1s they've had will ever be put up with any of the classic Christmas songs, pretty much the same as the RATM song to be honest if there is any campaign it should be for Fairytale Of New York because that is a song that did deserve the Christmas No1 spot but I guess people will start downloading that from November and it will be hanging about the top 20-30 when the big day arrives
  24. Gerry1975 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
MCR album will do better in the US than it will here I expect. Mid November-Late December is when the non-regular album buyers are out in force buying Christmas presents and that's when album sales seem to rocket, I think it will reach the top ten just but it could also miss out depending on what sales are like then. The Black Parade was No2 in the US and UK when it came out but that was in October where the big 4th quarter albums are only just starting to come out personally I'd like to see JLS flop but it's not going to happen, Take That will sell around 400k+ in the first week because it will be discounted by supermarkets who will probably have impluse stands at certain places in the shops.

absolutely no idea why the Biffy song is on the A-List when it's not getting any digital or physical release as far as I know despite it having a release date of Nov 22nd. It seems to be a video for Kerrang/MTV to play to promote the upcoming UK tour as it's a "live video". If they did want to release something rather than a single then I'd like to see some sort of live album/DVD as that is something Biffy have never done and their live shows are always awesome :( nice to see Radio 1 supporting Pulled Apart By Horses though, great debut album they put out this year and Yeah Buddy is a great song :)
