Radio 1 Playlist (20/10/10)
writing a new album after the Europe/UK tour I believe, not sure if they should release another song off OR and it should have been Whorses if they had to. Then again that album was full of singles so I'm not surprised they have released half or more than half of it then again another single might mean some more b-sides which is always good B)

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
he is right in saying they are terrible songwriters though but I reckon MCR's bad rep comes from the amount of teenage fans they have. I'd be surprised if a lot of people who say they don't like them have even listened to any songs away from the singles that are released stuff like Demoltion Lovers and Vampires Will Never Hurt You from I Brought You My Bullets,You Brought Me Your Love. DL is probably one of the best songs they've done infact You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison, Thank You For The Venom (which was released as a single) or I Never Told You What I Do For A Living from Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge The Sharpest Lives or Sleep from The Black Parade not a surprise that people say they don't like them when singles like Teenagers are getting released for the radio and if you were ever to venture on to the last.fm shoutbox of the band it's basically teenage girls going on about about Gerard Way or something like that. I'm looking forward to the new album as I've practically liked anything they've done, I don't like all the teenage obsessed fans they have but I can live with it because the band's music is very listenable

A Silence at number 1 for Christmas 2010
should go for Take The Power Back from RATM if you wanted another one from them ;) seriously though I think Fairytale Of New York should be the one to use this year, such a great Christmas song that really deserved to be No1. The problem that will go against this is that it will almost certainly be in the chart before Christmas with people downloading songs like this and Mariah Carey in the weeks before the big day as any sort of campaign would probably only work against the XF in the week of the XF physical CD/download release

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
http://bulletproofheartx.tumblr.com/post/1...hemical-romance next single off the album entitled "The Only Hope For Me Is You" sounds very similar to 30 Seconds To Mars with the synthy intro and the general tone of the song but the chorus is basically catchy MCR, another song I quite like :)

would rather listen to BMTH's album than Mumford And Sons and I absolutely detest BMTH, a terrible attempt at "hardcore" music at least their album is probably more interesting than listening to M&S though, utterly bored when I heard their album but then again that sort of thing sells in this country

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man
I'd probably say it is as If You Tolerate This was in a time when British rock bands would get played on the radio. Radio 2 will only play rock band music if it's simple and uncomplicated (think Many Of Horror by Biffy Clyro) nowadays as Radio 1 don't seem to bother with Manics or stuff like that nowadays. Don't think I saw (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love on the R1 playlist so I guess they are avoiding the band or something

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
the intro/riffs used through it sounds like Rocket from the Crypt - On A Rope to me, not sure if that's what you mean
-
Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man
more likely it wasn't the lead single because (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love sounds like a radio hit, I doubt R2 would bother with Golden Platitudes. It is a good song though, I will agree there. Considering they played Postcards From A Young Man and Some Kind Of Nothingness on the Jools Holland show on Friday night, I'd think one of them will be the next single. I'm hoping it's the title track as I like that and the radio would probably use that as they did with the first single
-
My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
pKK3GzMbcFU new single there, premiered on Radio 1 last night when Zane Lowe played it. Not exactly the greatest lyrics/title but it's catchy as hell. Been a fan since the debut album for this band and I've liked all of their albums so I'll be looking forward to November 22nd when the album with the strange title comes out

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man
album is very much a grower I think, I didn't think much of it from the first listen but as I continued to listen to it, I started to love most of the tracks I don't really think the single was that bad to be honest and I'd like to see Some Kind Of Nothingness and Postcards From A Young Man being singles taken from the album. obviously it's not as good as old Manics as nothing will touch their peak but I think this is similar to SATT, a good album that has some really good songs on it

The Script are dire but it's MOR music which sells in this country, lots of boring people out there who like it not my sort of thing but I just pretty much avoid it

they don't rap, don't have Katy Perry in the video and haven't been on the X-Factor. Never going to get anywhere with just physical sales unless you've got those 3 elements behind you Radio 2 gave it help but you really need the ITunes vote to do well :( hopefully the album will debut at No1 next week though as it would deserve it, possibly people waiting until that rather than buying the single

Sunday Chart Predictions
Flamingo is on special offer at the Amazon MP3 store for £3.99 so I'm guessing some people have bought that as it's quite a good price compared to buying the CD which is obviously dearer. It's probably on special offer/impluse stands at supermarkets as well which will lead to sales if people are fans of The Killers I'd say it's a good album but it just sounds like a Killers album pretty much. He's got a good voice but I reckon he should have moved away from the sort of thing The Killers would make to give himself more of an identity if he was thinking of continuing to release solo material. Good sales for him if those are true though, 100k+ is quite hard to shift nowadays in a week especially when you look at the amount of publicity Katy Perry has had and then look at her first week sales here and in the US

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 17th Sept 2010
nice to see the Manics high up in the pre-order singles chart, would be good if they could get a high new entry with (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love I can't really see it fitting in with the usual ITunes buyers so it probably won't get to No1 but top 3 would be a good result

Sunday Chart Predictions
I doubt the majority of Radio 1 really care about a chart to be honest  probably not the best place to ask this but why does every Burke song have to be A-Listed on R1 and get high in the charts? it's not as if she won't get to make another album with one flop single. I'd say somebody like Vickers is more on the bubble because her album sales haven't taken off in the way her label might have expected and therefore she needs the higher single positions then again I guess it's just people obsessed with artists and want them to get success in every way which is understandable but I don't understand why every single release needs to go high or get the radio to play it. Seems to be the same with JLS and bands like that

Sunday Chart Predictions
is it only me who thinks that's a bit sad, people buying an album because judges in a panel said it was the best? a conversation in the future with somebody who bought that album will probably read like this: "you like the XX? where did you find out about them? hear a song on Myspace? see one of their gigs, hear their stuff on radio?" "nope, the Mercury Music Prize people told me to buy the album" unlike Biffy and Mumford And Sons who were also nominated, their albums rose last week due to their peformances being shown on TV at the Reading/Leeds festival which is viable as festival goers probably bought the album after seeing them and I expect TV audiences did the same but people buying an album because some "judges" said it's the best is just pathetic in my honest opinion then again it reminds me of a similar scenario that happens on a ITV1 Saturday night TV show when "judges" tell us that somebody is the best they've ever heard and then expect people to go out and buy that album/single cause they said so. I had a listen to the XX album last year and although they are quite unique, I thought it was quite boring if I'm being completely honest. Then again I like stuff from a different genre so there will be other people who don't like listening to stuff I like and vice-versa. Album will probably go top 3 this week I think though, it's already No1 on the Amazon chart after being quite low down yesterday

Top 75 Singles / Albums Chart + Comps
could be a number of factors: nominated for the MMP which is announced next week, they won't win it though album is cheap on online retailers and ITunes, plus it's promoted on the ITunes front page people saw them at Leeds/Reading festival and bought the album on their performance perhaps

I wonder how many times Simon Neil has gone to a media interview and been called "Biffy Clyro" B) indeed it's not their best song and OR isn't their best material but it's miles better than "I want to be Will Young" at the top of the chart or pretty much most in the higher reaches actually
-
Sunday Chart Predictions
I wouldn't be surprised if they maybe just sneak the top 5 on Sunday, Disturbed's album was surely front loaded as it would probably only appeal to a certain genre. Whereas Biffy are coming off Reading/Leeds coverage, so people who watched their stuff on TV and at the festivals are probably buying Only Revolutions. Deserves a better peak than 8 which it might just end up getting, although that was during November which is usually when all the "cash cow" CDs are out

The Buzzjack Sunday Chart Show Thread
is it only me who thinks JLS are just a poor tribute to the early 90's boyband MN8? same attempt at attitude, girls throwing themselves at them etc normally not a fan of chart music but I don't think Airplanes is that bad a song actually :)
-
Sunday Chart Predictions
I thought all the urban stuff in the chart was bad, but how the hell did that The Baseballs band get into the album top 5 :D just caught a "performance" at the end of some new talk show for Dickinson on ITV and that was just hilarious. Singing Rihanna's Umbrella in a "rock n roll" style and sounding terrible, plus shaking about as if they had a twitch (was obviously supposed to be Elvis, has the slick backed hair etc) they must have some sort of major label or had some major promotion behind them but they are completely talentless. I notice the album is full of covers though and most of this country seems to love that, so that's probably it possibly one of the best laughs I've had in a while sitting watching them

Is there a lack of Rock Music in the charts?
there isn't really a lot of rock music in the charts but I wouldn't really care as I wouldn't want the good stuff associated with some of the rubbish that appears in the top 40 anyway. for instance the new Deftones album has reached No6 in the Billboard 200, it reached a pitiful No26 here compared to XF rejects and Glee who go straight to No1 despite their albums being nothing in quality compared to Diamond Eyes which in my opinion is one of the best albums of the year so far and probably nearly the best album the band have done. Obviously the band are more known in the US and probably have less promotion over here than XF reject or Glee but it's still an album that should be much higher
-
Sunday Chart Predictions
Deftones probably going to get in the top 20 maybe then although it will probably continue to drop, maybe top 30-ish not a surprise to see "TV influenced" act at No1 though, typical British public :puke2:
-
Sunday Chart Predictions
I'd be quite surprised if the Deftones album was to get anywhere near the top 10 albums to be honest, they have had a top 10 album in the self titled album from 2003 but it seems quite unlikely to me that their profile has improved since then (last album was No33) one of the best albums of the year so far as well, so I'd be surprised if it entered high due to that as well. Call me slightly cynical there if you will, but it seems to be the same with the singles chart as well

The Buzzjack Sunday Chart Show Thread
Bullet should be higher than that Glee album :puke2: I might be the only one, but I really cannot stand some of their voices. They might have been trained on Broadway but they really just seem to ruin songs that were actually good. Journey's Don't Stop Believin' and Like A Prayer seem to have been given the death call from them so far, I'm sure there is plenty others but I'm not willing to listen to any more. Lasted around 30-40 seconds with that LAP youtube video, similar to how long I lasted with DSB a few months ago
