  1. That's if you assume that those views are only held by around 2% of the voting population.
  2. "Swinging" the referendum isn't the same as being a swing voter. If there was enough of them to fundamentally change the outcome, it doesn't matter that they were never going to vote any other way. It matters that they exist.
  3. They'll apparently play the IAAF's official anthem (no, me neither).
  4. Why pick that out, though? Could we have prevented endemic sexual abuse in the Catholic Church by being less tolerant of Catholics?
  5. We look good for two or three medals from the relays. Men's 4x400 may be a stretch as apparently Hudson-Smith won't be coming in for the final, but we were still fourth fastest qualifiers so you never know. Need a better anchor leg from Rooney though.
  6. Men's 200 metres final tonight could be fascinating. Michael Johnson reckons there's five or six who could win it. I don't think he'll take the gold, but I do fancy Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake to nab a medal.
  7. Yep. China is definitely getting more tired of North Korea, and will continue to do so the more they start to looking like the might actually attack someone. Like you say, that requires the US to look like they're trying to maintain order and talk them down. That... doesn't seem to be the strategy for the current regime.
  8. Not what I meant, but I wouldn't put it past him. If there is any perceived threat to the North, it will put Seoul in very grave danger. Either by nuclear or by conventional means.
  9. "Dealing" with them may unfortunately involve having to explain why there is a smouldering pile of ash where Seoul used to be.
  10. Toni Minichiello is Jess Ennis-Hill's former coach. I think he's been quite good for providing some technical insight on events. I still like Cram although he's yet to have a moment of really memorable commentating during these championships. Andrew Cotter has been excellent, Johnson is still the best pundit on TV for any sport.
  11. It's not. The target of 6-8 was clearly too high. Mo Farah is the only one who you could consider a *likely* medallist, along with possibly one or two of the relays. Otherwise we have had a lot of predicted top 8 finishers - Muir, KJT, Bleasdale, Hitchon, Pozzi etc - where probability suggests that one or two could medal. It's unfortunate from a medal perspective that our best overperformers have been the likes of Prescod and Langford, who have exceeded expectations by making the final at all, rather than some those I mentioned above stepping up to medal.
  12. Improbably, it might be opening up for at least a final spot for Dina Asher-Smith. She broke her foot early in the season and barely made the team, but looked brilliant in running an SB in the heats tonight. Having come 5th in the last Worlds and at the Olympics, she's definitely a medal contender if she continues to improve through the rounds. And still only 21!
  13. Thought she didn't run a bad race actually - the pace could have been slightly faster to limit the strengths of fast finishers like Semenya and Simpson, but Muir couldn't do that all herself without tiring herself out. Probably would have nabbed a medal had she moved out further at the top of the home straight, being boxed in between Semenya and Hassan cost her.
  14. Jesus, what exactly do you imagine Clinton would have done with her first 6 months? Nuked the moon?
  15. I understand both points. Johnson is on record as saying that he thinks the punishment should be harsher for dopers. I can understand why he feels it's a strange situation where one of them gets booed far more than any other.
  16. Given the current administration, maybe not the best time to ask that question.
  17. Johnson-Thompson did well to put herself into contention over the last five events after an absolute shocker of a high jump by her standards. I expected her head to really drop after that as it's been clear in the past that she's lacked the resolve to get over setbacks, but she ended up with a solid score. She'll wind up with a couple of medals eventually as she's genuinely world class in two or three of the seven events, which gives her a big advantage if she can rack up big scores in those. Thiam looks like she's going to have the gold locked down for a long time, though.
  18. Can you blame them, though? All these commentators and pundits are former athletes. They're seeing the sport they have dedicated most of their lives to becoming a bit of a joke to many people because of people like Gatlin. Bolt may really have been the saviour of athletics over the last nine years. Look at the 30 fastest times ever in the men's 100 metres, the blue riband event, and Bolt is the only one with a time in there who hasn't been suspended due to drugs. As for Gatlin, I'm already sick of all the hot takes about how it's good that he won. Even aside from the doping, the first time he raced against Bolt he spat in his lane. He's a disgusting throwback to all of the very worst aspects of the American sprinters who had previously dominated sprinting for decades. At least if Coleman had won it could have been seen as a passing of the torch. I don't actually think Gatlin was actually on anything last night, but that's sort of redundant. It's been shown that doping earlier in your career can allow you to continue to train hard and avoid as many injury setbacks when you hit your 30s, even after you're no longer putting anything illegal into your body. He's four years older than Bolt, and has been the most consistent of any of the top sprinters in the world over the last few years when it comes to setting fast times every year. I'm willing to accept that his first ban as a junior was an honest mistake (as will most who read up on it) but he's a perfect example of why being caught taking testosterone or steroids as a senior athlete should get you banned for life.
  19. Can't see him dropping Herrera, so it'll be 4-3-3. Expecting Lingard to continue to be used a lot in big games to help strangle the opposition. We all know Jose by now, it's how others stop it working (and whether they need to if United continue to be completely anaemic going forward).
  20. If he can get back to his 2014-15 form, he could form a potentially very good midfield trio with Herrera and Pogba. That's a big if though, and a huge amount of money.
  21. Why hello there. Joined both leagues for this season.
  22. As you say, could go either way with him. I expect a similar fee to Sissoko's and he'll be one of their best paid players. They could do with more depth in attacking midfield if Lamela takes time to get back to full fitness - really that leaves Son, Alli and Eriksen and they'll always be using at least two of them if not all three. Middlesbrough are lining our pockets nicely. Already bought Randolph for £5m and if Fletcher goes as well we'll have made back half our Arnautovic money on two players who wouldn't make the bench if everyone was fit.
  23. ...which is improving all the time. Like I said, think back to what electric cars were like 20 years ago. There's a lot of industry money being invested in them now, the technology is going to keep improving.
  24. I think I echo the general feeling a few people have posted. This won't come in for 23 years - go that far back and consider where we were with electric car technology in 1994 compared to where we are now. It's a good target to aim for.
  25. Which is?
