Summer Transfers 2017
As you say, could go either way with him. I expect a similar fee to Sissoko's and he'll be one of their best paid players. They could do with more depth in attacking midfield if Lamela takes time to get back to full fitness - really that leaves Son, Alli and Eriksen and they'll always be using at least two of them if not all three. Middlesbrough are lining our pockets nicely. Already bought Randolph for £5m and if Fletcher goes as well we'll have made back half our Arnautovic money on two players who wouldn't make the bench if everyone was fit.

UK to ban petroleum and diesel cars by 2040
...which is improving all the time. Like I said, think back to what electric cars were like 20 years ago. There's a lot of industry money being invested in them now, the technology is going to keep improving.

I think I echo the general feeling a few people have posted. This won't come in for 23 years - go that far back and consider where we were with electric car technology in 1994 compared to where we are now. It's a good target to aim for.

Comey: Trump White House 'lied' about the FBI
Can we please get the discussion back on topic. I will be warning anyone who tries to derail the discussion again.

Big sports clash next July 15th.
Very odd. A few years ago when the Champions League final was in Moscow I'm pretty sure it kicked off at UK 8pm, meaning that it was well past 1am local time by the time it was over. That was admittedly the year of the all-English final, but I'd imagine it would have been the same regardless. Playing on the middle Sunday at Wimbledon seems like the most sensible solution. They can't risk a clash for two of the half dozen biggest sporting events of year, even if there's no British representation in either.

Comey: Trump White House 'lied' about the FBI
Neither Clinton nor Sanders were the optimal candidates for their respective wings of the party. I'm still sure that either Biden or Warren would have won against Trump last year. The fact that Sanders was able to do as well as he did makes it pretty clear that finding a "more electable Clinton" isn't going to solve all the Dems' problems. There's too much anti-establishment feeling in their base and in the country as a whole now. I don't really know US politics to know who would be a good 2020 candidate to bring the two wings together. I highly doubt it.

Comey: Trump White House 'lied' about the FBI
No particularly competitive seats have been up for grabs yet. The Dems certainly haven't covered themselves in glory, but if the Senate seats up in the midterms weren't so godawful they'd definitely have a good chance of taking back both houses.

£20m up front, £4m if we make Europe. So £20m.

Summer Transfers 2017
If this ends up with Lukaku going to United and Morata going to Chelsea, that's probably the better deal for both sides. Not to mention that Real looked like they were going to hold out for far more money from Woodward, but also Morata looks like a far surer prospect to slot into a team that's now expected to get results in the Champions League this season. Lukaku gets another year (at least) to improve his game before making that step up.

We were also linked with Iborra but, aside from our recruitment team being useless, he is also about the last type of player we need given the presence of Kouyate and Obiang. He should do well at Leicester alongside Drinkwater.

I thought Lacazette generally played through the middle? Mahrez seems to be replacing Sanchez.

If Rondon is happy there then surely he's still first choice. Rodriguez can play out wide, although Pulis might not play him there.

General Election - Post Mortem
And we'd still be subjected to new grammar schools, losing the triple lock and everything else which didn't make it from the manifesto to the Queen's Speech. Great idea. ...yes? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40453054 The cladding was changed partly for aesthetic reasons and partly to save £300k from the contract.

Summer Transfers 2017
Word of a buy-back clause in the deal. Assuming it will be about £40m. Traore going to Lyon should hopefully kick the Lacazette and Giroud deals into gear now.

Proposed football law changes
As much sense as it makes in terms of preventing time wasting and faked injuries, I'd find it a bit of a shame if the 30 minute half rule was introduced. The current system lends a bit of anarchy to the end of games, particularly compared to something like rugby.

Proposed football law changes
I could far more easily live with that. It's bad enough that they're asking for kick offs at weird times every new season to try and capture international audiences.

OPINION POLLS 2017
In which case no one would be going up in the polls, which wouldn't really work statistically.
-
Proposed football law changes
You might be out of luck in that case, as it's likely that 30 minute halves with the clock stopped for injuries, throw ins etc. would probably lead to the game taking about the same amount of time it does now. I read somewhere that the average half currently has about 28 minutes of action.

World Cup Qualifying
Have Belgium found any full backs yet? They could be very dangerous if so. Our team, particularly our front six, is full of players who would be on the fringes of the squad for the really top teams and could be very useful if we were to find a cohesive system to play them in. Unfortunately that doesn't look like happening any time soon, and the most obvious starting point - the current Spurs set up - has performed awfully in Europe thus far.

Political predictions for 2017
Well this is already in chaos.

Summer Transfers 2017
Suggests that the signs aren't good over Walker in that case. I'm guessing they'll only buy one RB and make Maffeo a rotation option. If they bring in another CB as well, they might try out that weird 3-2-4-1 formation Pep used a few times in the autumn/winter again.

OPINION POLLS 2017
Not every constituency is though, is it? Darlington has a majority of 3,000 and was a big Tory target. Bishop Auckland has a majority of 502. That's not even counting all of those in Tees Valley. The North East is also trending from Labour to the Tories (outside of Newcastle and Durham) moreso than the rest of the country. That's why everyone was rightly a bit concerned when the first two or three results announced last Thursday night up there showed swings which weren't at all consistent with the exit poll.

OPINION POLLS 2017
So were the Tories. It was their immigration policy.

General Election - Post Mortem
The Tories used to win the 18-30 vote in the 1980s, and presumably a lot of those people in their 40s to 60s are still voting for them now. Every election since (I'm pretty sure, anyway) has seen Labour win the youth vote. That means that you've now got a whole generation of people entering their middle ages who not only are becoming more likely to vote, but are also used to voting Labour. Unless the Tories start doing well among under 40s again sharpish, the generational churn really doesn't help them.
