Summer Transfers 2017
Good signing for us. His legs haven't completely gone yet and he'll be a good influence in the dressing room.

Others, presumably.

General Election 2017
The 2017 manifesto is nothing like 1983's. It's been designed to make the party membership (the majority of which you could call soft left) happy in an election we're still likely to lose. 1983's was very much rooted in the party's hard left, and most of its notable proposals were nowhere near as popular as 2017's.

It's more that Giroud's technique was better anyway. Best Player: Hazard Best Game: Swansea 5-4 Crystal Palace Best Manager: Antonio Conte Best Goal: Emre Can vs Watford (as much as I love Carroll, this one defied physics more) Best Signing: Batshuayi. :D Kante, although in terms of value for money there's probably others and Jesus looks like it in the long run Worst Flop: Zaza, obviously. Gokhan Tore runs him close

OPINION POLLS 2017
I think this is by and large true - they really jumped at what they saw as an opportunity for relevance again but it's looking more misjudged by the day.

OPINION POLLS 2017
If current polling bears out, the Lib Dems could even lose seats from 2015. Farron's position would surely be untenable, but who replaced him would obviously depend on which MPs they retained. Greg Mulholland seems more likely than most to keep his seat in Leeds but I don't know a lot about him.

General Election 2017
It really, really depends on the job.

Council Elections 2017
Sounds like the right decision. Should be a red line.

We were in equal parts unlucky and completely abject there. Our heads completely went as soon as you broke away for the third goal. After ending Tottenham's title hopes, it was clearly one favour too many for Arsenal today. Assuming Boro won't be much of a problem if yesterday was anything to go by.

General Election 2017
The initial shock of leaving was always going to be easier to manage without hitting people's pockets than what will happen when we actually leave - especially if we go with no deal in place.

General Election 2017
You'd have almost thought that it wasn't a conspiracy and Brexit actually will be really, really bad.

I suppose 6th to 1st would be an outstanding achievement, though.

General Election 2017
Suggestion that it's more to access data than anything else, as NHS records will be rather detailed.

General Election 2017
If there are charges in Thanet, it will be after the deadline for entering candidates. It was widely assumed with the other seats involved that any candidate implicated would have to resign, so it would be interesting to see if that was still the case when there was no opportunity for the Tories to replace them. Whether they were to stand down or not, it looks like it could either be the only seat where UKIP has a hope of winning or the unlikeliest Labour gain of the election.

Council Elections 2017
I suppose campaigning doesn't matter too much if you're not actually aware there's any elections going on.

Arsenal are right back in the top 4 hunt if it stays like this.

Council Elections 2017
Bowdon and Hale Barns on the edges of Altrincham (he won Altrincham itself and Hale, which is remarkable enough) along with two Bramhall wards in Stockport, part of Prestwich and a posh bit of Bolton. I'll believe it when I see it. The fact that we're having an election at all surely suggests that May and her ministers don't think we'll be able to cut a deal before we leave at all.

General Election 2017
The key problem is that a lot of the UKIP to Tory switchers previously voted Labour or even Lib Dem.

They looked absolutely shattered. Their game falls apart when they can't press, although we put in a great performance as well.

Council Elections 2017
Just in case what, David Davis and Liam Fox have a change of heart? http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o585/cwmayer1/18268449_10158731417395650_3628349148988516975_n_zpsqsnalivh.jpg Absolute annihilation in Greater Manchester with about 10% more of the first preference vote than I was expecting. A substantial silver lining on an otherwise awful set of results.

Council Elections 2017
That is fairly low but not as low as I feared. 38% in the whole of Trafford compared to 44% in the one ward which had a council by-election (which we held with an increased majority, somehow).

General Election 2017
In two minds about whether Corbyn should do it if May doesn't. On the one hand it's a chance to put himself out there, on the other his big advantage is that he's a better debater than her and if she's not there he risks being sucked into the minor party scrap.
