  1. WOO, Coldplay 4th. Not amused that "Black and Yellow" came last, though.

Lana Del Ray - Video Games

    Labrinth - Earthquake

    Bruno Mars - Marry You

David Guetta ft. Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida - Where Them Girls At

Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine - Stereo Hearts

    Adele - Someone Like You

Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had

JLS ft. Dev - She Makes Me Wanna

The Saturdays - All Fired Up

Taio Cruz ft. Travie McCoy & Kylie Minogue - Higher

The top 5 range from very good to decent, the next four are meh and "Higher" is sleep-inducing.

  2. And the relevance of that is...?

At the end of the day, he performed on the same show as Leona and, regardless of whether he wants to sell more albums than singles, his song in particular hasn't been as popular as Leona's. You could argue that Leona wasn't "looking for single success" either. After all, she hasn't sent 'Hurt' to radio or released a music video of it.

But it doesn't have a parent album that she can flog, so anyone who's interested might spend 99p on the song. Bublé is asking people to shell out the best part of a tenner for an album, so there's bound to be a smaller boost for him.

  3. I'm sure most people are downloading this song because of Leona's vocal performance rather than the song itself. That's why her version is at #4 and Johnny Cash's is in the 40s.

Well, I didn't see Johnny Cash being dragged out to a 15 million-strong audience last night. Half the people watching probably don't even know it's a cover.

  4. Think: Coldplay - Paradise

    Hope: Leona Lewis - Hurt

Outside thought: Beyonce - Love On Top (may benefit from gift-card effect...hopefully...)

If any song goes to #1 off the gift card effect it'll be "Moves Like Jagger" :P I can actually see it returning to the top 10...

  5. So just another X Factor, as I said Will is well out of it.

Is the X Factor the only talent show? No. The Beeb could have gone for the straight-edged "Strictly"-style approach but have instead realised they need to actually make a show that beats the competition at its own game.

  6. I came to this conclusion when the so-called "song" that is Down For Whatever went top 10 tbh. :puke:

This is the only country that the song went top 10 in (obviously, since it's so awful). The UK must really be the laughing-stock of the world atm.

It's generic tripe but it's only 'bad' because of a lack of originality and there's been a lot of songs like that which have done far better. Leona's version of "Run", for instance.

  7. Yes and Will was clearly the best guest mentor X Factor as ever had.

Although the show would have upped Will's profile in the short term I'm sure it wasn't Will's main motivation for wanting the role. He is serious about nuturing talent and sharing his experience and is why he runs master classes and workshops.

If Danny was chosen because he's a good looking chap with good chat, who can grow into the role perhaps it isn't the show it's been purported to be & Will is well out of it.

In your opinion, there's no 'clearly' about it. And no talent show is truly about the talent, it's an entertainment programme - hence why the X Factor has become such a massive clichéd parody of itself. The BBC has clearly done its research and knows what it wants from the judges on the show.

  8. The truth is, if it weren't for Will being linked to the show, I probably wouldn't have even known about it! I don't like the fact that IMO he's been exploited for publicity, but it won't harm his career any by not appearing on this show.

I'd guess BBC have another Fame Academy on their hands, which IMO was a poor attempt at emulating an already ailing ITV reality music tv show. Without Will, I don't think I'll be tuning in <_<

Another Fame Academy? Really? "The Voice" actually has some global precedent, it's done very well in the US and their version is responsible for the second biggest song of the year over here. It'd have to be catastrophically bad to fail over here.

Full stop the point of the whole show is VOICE.

    Will.i.am cannot sing.

Even cheryl was better here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0WZ-TYhzKc

Will young defines VOICE. He has talent show experience.

Will even said he wanted it, so it's not like Will turned it down. Think Will doesn't like X Factor

so he considered The Voice because he is all about that. I'm pissed really, it's all about homegrown

talent and Will is one of the best.

The USA chucked off the brit we sent - Cheryl. Why should we be so welcoming time and time again

Will.i.am should not be on this panel, Will should.

I'm still pissed as you can imagine! Don't think its gonna do anything for Will's career either way, this show won't

get X Factor ratings it'll do alright thats it.

They were never deciding between will.i.am and Will? will.i.am was already confirmed on the panel before the final two were announced, so it's a fairly pointless comparison.

Also, since when did Louis Walsh have the X Factor? It's about judging and mentoring, not being a potential contestant.

  9. That's what I mean. With the way music is heading now, it's unlikely we'll ever see a band like Coldplay at number one on the SINGLES chart again.

Really? We've had phases before that have seen rock music (Coldplay being a watered down examplee, obviously) struggle on the singles chart and then it always seems to come back.

  10. Wow, after the way the charts have been in 2011, THAT would be something! :o

I think the charts might be starting to diversify again for next year, because generic club bangers like Down For Whatever, Marry the Night and Fight For You aren't doing as well as I might've previously feared. And COLDPLAY and T-PAIN are the top 2, when RnB and alternative music have been practically non-existent the entire year!

Well, 'traditional' R'n'B and hip-hop have at least. You know that its a bad year for those genres when a massive hit like "Black and Yellow" can only get to #5 after a held-back release. It's also sad for alternative that it takes the biggest band in the country to write a solid gold pop song and it takes three months for it to make #1.

  11. Explain please. For all you know there could be hundreds of thousands of people who never watched any of those shows because they didn't like whoever on the panel. I can't stand Amanda Holden, Michael McIntyre, etc and have never watched Britains Got Talent for exactly that reason. Even if Will Young had never been mentioned or interested in this show I would have had the same views of those individuals selected. I might have watched it if my interest in the show was greater than my dislike of particular people but after the producers have messed up with Will like they have I won't help their ratings. If it's a runaway success good for it, watching's still not compulsory.

Actually I think you'll find it is, I stopped watching talent shows after Pop Idol and anything involving Simon Cowell and Lois Walsh is a no no. I can't abide Gary Barlow now either and as for The Voice I would have only watched if Will had been in it, believe me, I can survive without having to watch another talent show. :D

Looking back at major talent shows of the last decade or so I don't think I've ever had an affinity to any of the judges with the possible exception of Michael McIntyre. The majority of them I actively dislike but I enjoy the show regardless because it's an entertainment programme and more often than not they're unintentionally hilarious.

 27. Good Feeling - Flo Rida

I'd really like to hear iTunes' explanation for deleting this.

I'm so annoyed I might actually email Steve Jo... oh wait.

  15. The mix of judges is an absolute dog's breakfast. If they are trying to interest all sectors by the judges they have chosen they will struggle to garner nevermind maintain interest. They need judges who would appeal across the board, not one group each. I can't stand will I am, I don't wish to watch Tom Jones, JessieJ is just a show off based on dressing up, and Danny ODonoghue a lightweight who now has to prove he deserves to be there.

I liked the idea but the reality is ugh, and add Holly Willoughby and daft Reggie Yates into the equation, you've not got a watchable show in my opinion.

Swap the names over and you'd have the opinion that people had on Pop Idol / The X Factor when they started down to a tee. These things are always met with scepticism, isn't it actually better to watch the thing and judge it first? Bitterness over Will Young being dropped from the judging panel isn't a particularly solid reason to boycott a show.
