Where will Leicester City finish?
It's at the point where only a full-on collapse will see them lose it. They need to win four of their last seven games, so even losing two of West Ham, United and Chelsea may not stop them. Incredible.

That'll be neither, then. I'd gladly take either of the former.

OPINION POLLS 2017
Yes, but it's still not an excuse. Some MPs don't seem to have grasped the idea that a failed coup will merely strengthen his position and the constant sniping will only provide an excuse when he fails.

OPINION POLLS 2017
Corbyn himself is currently an electoral liability and would continue to be one even if the right weren't leaking to the press to undermine him. Frankly both camps deserve each other, they'll both be to blame when we inevitably lose in 2020. Is it too much to ask for a leadership which both votes against legislation such as the welfare bill and resists the urge to quote Mao in the Commons? For the record, so far I think this government has brought out worse and more right wing than the coalition did in its first year. That's partly because the coalition had already laid the groundwork for Osborne to take more extreme action now, though.

I'd always call myself a multilateralist, but I do quite like the Japanese approach of keeping the infrastructure required to build nukes and using it for energy production instead, meaning that you'd shut up the CND but retain the ability to build the things within a year if you had to. Especially given that unlike Japan we're nowhere near the sort of natural disaster danger zones which could see it all blow up in our faces. Unfortunately, I have zero confidence in this government's ability to plan for any sort of major infrastructure which doesn't involve boring holes underneath London for trains.

You literally have the words 'social democrat' and 'conservative' in that sentence and yet somehow you're still confusing them. Impressive.

England Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Agree with virtually all this. Russia aren't a great side and don't have great full backs from memory, so starting Rooney wide in a 4-3-3 with the three forwards rotating (presumably alongside Kane and Welbeck) wouldn't be disastrous, but I struggle to see how he can fit into the starting XI against top teams unless someone's injured. The alternative would be to do what Spurs often do and shift Alli to one side of the 4-2-3-1 with Rooney in the middle where Eriksen usually plays. Then again, Rooney is a completely different type of player to Eriksen.

I don't know how well liked Gove is by his fellow MPs. One of Osborne's problems is that most of his fanclub (including the comically high number of SpAds he's surrounded himself with) won't get a vote until the final round.

Next Conservative leader?
Give me strength. Osborne has never been particularly liked by the Tory membership. I'm starting to think that they only went for Cameron because they were so sick of being out of power for eight years and will inevitably baulk at anyone else with the same public school persona and modernising shtick now. It probably only took one false step for Osborne to lose any hope of becoming leader and the Budget was almost certainly it. Saying that, there is a trend for the Tories to go for someone unexpected so I'm still holding out hope it won't be Boris.

England Euro 2016 Qualifiers
There's reasons to be optimistic, which we may have speculated about before last night but look a little less fanciful now. The pressing is one, and the fact that we have genuine options up front - Vardy is clearly full of confidence and will be a great option. I wonder when the last time was that we could potentially replace one of the Premier League's top two scorers with the other during a game.

England Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Very good performance. There was a danger early in the second half that we were going to lose concentration and get picked off (as Germany themselves might have done against Spain six or seven years ago) but Kane's goal came at the perfect time and from then we were on top. Credit to Roy for not going overboard with the substitutions as well.

England Euro 2016 Qualifiers
I quite like the look of our team tonight, it looks balanced and I'd be quite confident if we went into the first group game with that XI. Still, like Rooney said it shows how little experience most of our best players still have.

Champions League 2015/16
Yeah, I'd actually add Sanchez and Ozil to that list of top class players and they're testament to the fact that Arsenal are only one or two good big signings away from walking this league. The one thing we have going for us at the moment is the calibre of manager in the top flight - it's getting to the stage where there are very few top managers who haven't (or won't soon) managed in England.

Just so we're on the same page, who are you counting as moderate Tories?

Barclays Premier League chat ii
You could have predicted today - United have been deeply average all season, City have ranged between brilliant and absolute piss depending on their injury list at the time. I think if Otamendi had been fit today they could well have won, but they've badly missed De Bruyne recently. Rarely look like scoring against a packed defence.

Favourite Sporting Moment out of the 10 years of Buzzjack
I loved that Italy team. Amazing set of forwards. Coming from a household that's split between West Ham, Manchester City and Chelsea, May 2012 was a fairly stressful month. How it all worked out so well in the end I'll never know.

Champions League 2015/16
It's hard to compare because a lot of players don't adapt well to the PL, look terrible and then go back home and do well again (Aspas and Soldado spring to mind). The way football was going in the few years before tiki-taka suited our league's style and happened to coincide with Real and Bayern being relatively quiet. Everything went right for the English game at the same time, it's easy to look back with rose-tinted glasses at the players who were doing well at the time.

Champions League 2015/16
Wrong way round I think. Look at the teams that our mid-table and bottom half teams are competing with for signings - the TV money and the way it's divided means that our top teams don't have any easy games and their top players are tired or injured by the time the knockout rounds come along. Arsenal had their moments tonight but it's hard to see anyone keeping Barcelona quiet for 180 minutes. 90 maybe.

Suagr tax is a clever distraction. Lots of strong opinions and isn't split by traditional party lines, so it's dominated the headlines while other announcements are far more significant.
