France's group is hilariously easy, both sides of Ireland's ridiculously hard. Ours is somewhere in the middle, although we have far more quality than any of the other three teams in there. Keep Bale quiet and we'll top the group.
  2. Arsenal hold the record, Villa are third behind Everton in that respect I believe.

Nandy v Lewis would be really quite something.
  4. The Christmas period is always crucial. We will be seriously stretched with the fixture congestion, but seemingly everyone is having an injury crisis right now so I wouldn't be surprised if we get more surprise results over the next month or so. The league looks to be between Arsenal and City though.
  5. It'll be interesting for UKIP in the sense that 2013 was their breakthrough year so this is the last year they could be expected to make decent gains without becoming any more popular nationally.
  6. Safe as houses. Both were excellent last night. Arsenal have a 40% chance of meeting in Real or Barcelona in the last 16 though.
  7. I can't see both Chelsea and Arsenal failing tonight. The former have (largely) been able to grind out results in the CL so far and Arsenal always seem to turn up on nights like this.
  8. City do a City and go through top despite being behind to Monchengladbach with 15 minutes to go. Sevilla get prepped for a third Europa League title on the trot by beating Juve. What a night.

I think he'll win the primary but not the general.

Jesus, Trump even makes Boris look good.
  11. The Independent and the Guardian need to stop getting so excited at every potential "crisis" story. Hopefully the novelty will wear off soon because this government needs better scrutiny and the BBC aren't able to do it while the spectre of being butchered hangs over them.
  12. If Leicester win their next four games I will eat all of my shoes. Newcastle nullified Liverpool well today. Sissoko and Wijnaldum are so inconsistent but there's a lot of potential there when everyone's on form. Shame the defence is usually such garbage.
  13. I dread to think what we'd have been like in previous years with four or our five best attacking players out, but we've got depth now. Antonio was lively when he came on and he and Zarate offered some support to Carroll at last. Alex Song is a class act.
  14. West Ham could have easily won today. No strategy from United at all, they'll be the worst title winners in a while if they somehow finish top.
  15. Always I'm all for getting behind him, I'd just rather people who disagreed with him on things weren't violently threatened with deselection.
  16. Well consider me surprised. Fantastic result, turnout was unexpectedly solid as well.
  17. But you were literally equating abolishing Clause IV with abandoning the idea that Labour should try and win elections.
  18. At which point even I would think about leaving.
  19. There are major questions to be asked about how the party maintains a balance between leader, PLP and membership and they become more major the longer Corbyn stays. The more extreme parts of his support base will never accept responsibility if it continues to go tits up.
  20. Jamie Redknapp apparently.
  21. I knew I should have put a bet on him becoming the next England coach. If Valencia make the top four I can see him taking over from Hodgson next summer. Strange to think that earlier in the week there were rumours about him joining a team in the Championship, it's quite a step up! If he can earn the respect of the players and the fans early I'd imagine he'll do well. Clearly very tactically astute defensively and knows what defenders don't like facing going forward as well.
  22. I'm missing the comfort blanket provided by Ed's "we're not going to win but we're united and ticking along well enough that we just might" state of purgatory. Even though it was sort of a waste of five years.
  23. Carroll shouldn't be starting. Bring him on for the last half an hour, but he upsets the entire team's rhythm.
  24. Oh and may the gods of hellfire rain down on anyone who tries to deselect Stella Creasy.
