  1. It surely would have been more difficult to make hay out of the tax credits u-turn when his own stance was so confused.
  2. That's nice. I wonder where the other hundred thousand are.
  3. It would be nice if some more of Momentum's members put their money where their mouth was and started knocking on doors rather than hiding on Twitter.
  4. I'm really looking forward to the "Blairite" candidate being blamed for only delivering a 1,500 majority.
  5. Before seeing any of West Ham today I assumed we were back to the Allardyce days of settling for a draw in a game we should be winning. Turns out we looked pretty good - Sakho works miles better than Carroll up front and will be missed next week against United. Hopefully Bilic will start Zarate up top.
  6. You can hide unpopular ideas behind popular ones. It's quite difficult to do when one of the unpopular policies is the basis for your entire economic programme.
  7. If we win the Davis Cup, it'll be Murray again. The public have never warmed to Farah enough - or Hamilton for that matter, who won against a weak field last year.
  8. Farage is unusually quiet.
  9. In a valiant attempt to overshadow Maogate, today Alex Salmond missed the Syria debate in the Commons in order to unveil a portrait of himself. Jesus wept.
  10. Winner takes all. And if the winner is Arsenal and it's 1-0 or 2-1, "all" is a spot in the Europa League.
  11. Osborne's strategy is the equivalent of selling the family silver for scrap and telling every family member they have to pick two days a week not to eat and make plans for a third.

Well no, obviously. I was referring to Morning Glory.

As much as I think she's overrated and what I've heard from the album sounds like the worse half of 21, you could say exactly the same thing about Be Here Now. Hype is hype, the better album will still sell more in the long run.
  14. Awful, awful news and my heart goes out to anyone affected in any way. I've noticed that Facebook have done the same thing they did after the Nepal earthquake and notified everyone who has a friend who's checked in as "safe" in Paris. Such a good idea and it's probably given a lot of people a great deal of peace of mind.
  15. Enormously sad. RIP.
  16. There was a great article in the Independent yesterday by Danny Higginbotham explaining why United are struggling to score when Rooney plays as a Number 9 - unlike when City have Bony up top, they don't have enough men running beyond him and taking advantage of his link-up play. Rooney plays best when he has others running beyond him, and that doesn't necessarily mean he needs to stop playing as a centre forward as long of the likes of Lingard and Martial are instructed to run in past him. Unfortunately Van Gaal seems to like using Herrera as a Number 10 and Mata on the wing which stops that from happening.
  17. 13 points is irrelevant when Leicester are in the top four because they won't stay there. They probably still won't do it though. I was sure they'd win yesterday but something is just not going for them at the moment.
  18. This is true. I wouldn't bet against them at this point.
  19. I literally just said that. If they lose to Zagreb they'll finish bottom of the group, which is probably preferable. If they win and then blow it against Olympiakos they'll really be kicking themselves.

    Can we just not.
  21. Olympiakos winning is the real kicker there. Saying that, if Arsenal can beat them and Zagreb then they only need Bayern to beat Olympiakos. Not impossible at all.

I worry for you. Rubio would be a threat and would probably delay Texas going blue for a bit longer with the Hispanic vote. Long term that's going to kill the GOP.
  23. They generally do better in the Europa as well. Fantastic from City tonight. Pellegrini got his tactics spot on and Sterling showed what progress he's made by moving up a level.
  24. Nearby is stretching it a little! She's fucking awful though. My first encounter with the notorious Lib Dem bar charts was in 2010 when she used the local election voting percentages on her leaflet showing them coming second and was obviously pretending it was for the last GE.
  25. Cahill has always been a covering defender - he generally does well when there's someone alongside him to put in the crunching tackles etc. Pretty clear that that isn't Terry any more. I'd like to see Oscar starting more, he made a real difference for them at the weekend.
