  1. If they'd won today, they'd have been level on points with Liverpool. They're only six behind Spurs. It's not insurmountable if they have a good November.
  2. Lucas' first booking came after three poor fouls. Given that, he was incredibly lucky that his fourth didn't see him sent off. Had he not already been on a booking, I'm sure the referee would have given him a yellow as he'd done to Mikel a minute before.
  3. The game turned on the Coutinho goal before half time and Lucas not being sent off. Both were 50/50, and Liverpool got both. Hardly an anti-Chelsea conspiracy, but it shows how fine the margins can be. They'd have probably kept a clean sheet had that game been last season. The defence needs completely reworking - Terry's legs have gone and Rahman needs to come in on the left.
  4. If that pattern continues, my constituency will have a by-election in three years. Probably won't be very interesting.
  5. Labour selection looks likely to be Jim McMahon (leader of Oldham Council), who was expected to be a major contender to be our candidate for Mayor in 2017. Kate Godfrey who ran in Stafford in the GE has also thrown her hat into the ring. And then got all sorts of abuse for it.
  6. Remi Garde is odds-on favourite for Villa. I have to say I hadn't realised he'd left Lyon in the summer, would have been a huge step down otherwise. He'll have a good insight into their Ligue 1 imports and is clearly a good coach.
  7. Ooh I might barge into this. Will have a think on what to send tonight.
  8. Villa have the 10th biggest wage budget in the league and would definitely pay him more than Sociedad. Can't see either him or Rodgers wanting to come in at this stage though.
  9. Mourinho won't be sacked unless they look like going out of the Champions League. What a bloody boring derby.
  10. The seat is a slightly different makeup, with a far smaller non-Labour vote to eat into. They'll be an easy second, but it should be more like Rotherham than Heywood.
  11. Thank god it's not a marginal. I don't have the energy.

I'd take him over Milne (who will not be cheap, and hasn't even left his job at the Guardian) any day of the week.
  13. In other news, Chelsea still have a decent chance of topping their group now their two hardest games are out of the way.

As someone on Twitter pointed out, OWEN JONES WAS RIGHT THERE.
  15. I too am going at 00:01 having failed to buy IMAX tickets for the Thursday evening. Will probably go at least twice though, so YAY. I do hope it doesn't try and ape some of the plot points of the original trilogy too much (Starkiller Base being nu-Death Star, I'm looking at you). JJ at least managed to mainly avoid that with Star Trek, although it was a reboot so he could get away with a lot more.

Well that was... surreal. Imagine someone on a lot of drugs trying to explain the plot of 'Never Let Me Go' and you're pretty much there.
  17. I'll give him credit for a lot but I wouldn't stretch that far. We were great last season for about three months when Carroll and Nolan were injured, then reverted back to the dogshit of 2013-14 which wasn't good enough with the money spent. Saying that, he was the perfect man to have in charge for his first two (arguably three) seasons and I'll be forever grateful that he brought us up and kept us there. Sunderland's squad has some quality in it and I reckon with a decent January window he'll keep them up.
  18. Dammit Jurgen.
  19. Big Sam would be a shoo in if he hadn't spent time on the Toon.
  20. Maybe not traditional wingers, but wide players are still important and no one in your squad seems to want to play there. 4-3-3 is about the last formation that works.
  21. The only one that springs to mind is Gervinho, but isn't that the point of a recruitment team?
  22. Did you? Where are the wingers?
  23. Will be interesting to see what Klopp can do without his own signings.
  24. I read something the other day saying they should bring in Ashley Cole on a short term deal. After today, you can see it.
  25. I'm hardly his biggest fan but calling it a "temporary" rise in living standards is selling his government very short. There were massive improvements across the board, aided by huge investment in public services. Another five years of Cameron will really start to eat into that, but that only goes to show how big a change it was.
