  1. "You'll win against Bournemouth", they said "They can't score to save their lives", they said
  2. They probably would, but it's still bizarre.
  3. There's a difference between a recruitment drive and an open primary. And no, there won't be a split. The Labour right are too ingrained within most bits of the party for it to be worth their while. In Stoke?!
  4. United were trying to call Perez's bluff. It's not very Real to wait it out for a whole year for a player they could throw money at and have now. I think United assumed they'd come back with a monstrous offer or a stupid swap deal.
  5. We have more mutual friends than I thought. Seriously though, anyone notable?
  6. There is. The party have been weeding out people who've been involved with other parties all summer.
  7. Chelsea need competition at the back. And pace.
  8. It's very rare that any endorsement is actually newsworthy, but I find it genuinely interesting that the authors of The Spirit Level has endorsed Corbyn.
  9. Their squad is good but I can't see them going the distance. Something doesn't feel quite right yet.
  10. Graduate Tax is a big yes from me. Removes the stigma and doesn't cost a penny. You can fiddle with the rates without attracting the headlines and then eventually it can be subsumed into income tax. Andy's Rent to Own thing is alright as well. Right to Buy for private rents would kill the market stone dead. We have a boom in inner city living which would suddenly evaporate for everyone who can't afford to buy a flat.
  11. Erm, because it's AV?
  12. Their focus on the deficit and the whole "age of austerity" guff is largely seen as what cost them a majority.
  13. Oh I don't think it should be done for the sake of it - we'd need a workable alternative position. It's practically impossible for an opposition leader to dictate the economic argument, especially one in a party coming off 13 years of government. Cameron didn't manage to convince people of the need for austerity until he was actually in Downing Street. Also, it says a lot that you see Syria as a "small concession".
  14. Why not Heathrow?
  15. Which won't work. The Tories will do exactly the same thing as they did last time and load up all of their unpopular (with the public) stuff through early while they have the PCP (that can't be what they're actually called can it?) on side. I think we should be voting against a lot of it anyway, but not because we're likely to win.
  16. He's an upgrade on Nolan, assuming we actually get rid of Nolan now.
  17. I shall be watching, as always. Looking forward to the sprints from a GB perspective, which is still weird.
  18. Coal mines! As much as I appreciate the widening of the debate that Corbyn has brought, I could do without him playing lefty bingo.

Broad for SPOTY is a bit daft. He's been consistent throughout the series but it would effectively be for one amazing session. The team is probably going to beat the women's football team for the team award though. ----- The Aussies have serious issues with the age of their team. I think they went into this series assuming it'd be one final hurrah for the likes of Rogers, Clarke and Haddin. A big rebuilding process from here, and you wouldn't bet against England retaining as we did in 2010-11.

    96% Sanders 87% Clinton 81% O'Malley 44% Kasich 39% Paul 33% Jindal 31% Huckabee 23% Trump (apparently on healthcare, go figure) 23% Bush 23% Christie 11% Fiorina 8% Perry 5% Carson 5% Graham 5% Rubio 3% Walker 0% Cruz 0% Santorum (YES!)
  21. They lost their opening game two years ago and topped the table until January. And they won't be playing teams of that standard every week :D
  22. Valencia v Monaco will be a corker.
  23. He's taken a series of new (and frankly welcome) policy stances because Corbyn is outflanking him on the left. Not three months ago he was on the charm offensive with big business. The danger with all this flip-flopping is that there's a real danger he'll get tied into knots when placed under the spotlight for five years as Leader of the Opposition. As Shadow Health Secretary he basically had a free hit as it's natural territory for us and he knows it like the back of his hand.
  24. Anyone's guess, as ever. Chelsea will presumably do better, Arsenal may not if they're challenging for the league.

I'm a little envious of Americans since the Sanders campaign seems to be a lot more fun than the Corbyn one. Maybe because it's taking place exclusively on Reddit.
