  1. Further evidence that Owen Jones believes his own hype.
  2. She was excellent when I saw her last week. Her oratory style seems a bit more accessible than Andy's as well.
  3. Rachel Reeves is still putting me off Burnham. Cooper just seems that bit sharper at the moment.
  4. Absolutely bombed with Greece. Not got good feelings from this.
  5. By all accounts he seems like a complete little shit, but it's hypocrisy of the highest order for Liverpool to bemoan him leaving. Every club buys players from smaller ones.
  6. It's pushing Burnham (and I imagine Cooper) further left by coming out and opposing it, we can't do anything about it and no one will remember in 2020. Could be worse.
  7. You're kind of missing the point of the "moderate" wing of the party - it's all about being pragmatic and not straying too far from the supposed centre ground, which changes over the decades.
  8. Behind-the-scenes footage was shown at Comic-Con last night. CTNJ51ghzdY AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
  9. Delph will probably get a fair amount of game time as an alternative to Fernandinho. They need a wide player though.
  10. Meanwhile I'm already designing the bumper stickers.
  11. Rumour that if United can't get one of their bigger targets they might put in a £15m bid for Diafra Sakho. Seems a bit far fetched.
  12. Ony likely to be the case this time though. Lisa Nandy should be far more prominent by 2020.
  13. ELO are better but it's nigh-on impossible for a mathematical model to do this accurately. Given that we went to Switzerland and won comfortably I don't actually think 9th is that far off for us. The Dutch still being 5th is odd.
  14. Unfortunately I think his stammer was a big part of it. The fact that he got so easily flustered meant that he tried to make up for it by going "on the attack" in a weird sort of way.
  15. I can't see this having the legs to beat Avatar or maybe even Titanic - they were both massive long runners, I don't think something so frontloaded could pass $2bn for a few years. Should get close though, and end up comfortably #3. Also, the Han spin-off is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump Street fame. YAY.
  16. Darmian was arguably the MotM against England. Might even be a better bet than Clyne.
  17. If Miliband proves anything it's that the package was wrong. I don't totally buy the argument that we're letting the Tories set the agenda as much as we did after 2010. What hurt us was that we then spent the next two years going through a policy review which was then almost entirely ignored because the parliament is five years long. I don't think the new leader will make the same mistake. It's about picking the right fights over the next few years, always having a position (even if it's temporary, because fuck it) and using those experiences to craft a decent manifesto in five years. Also, I find it endlessly frustrating that all the likely candidates for Shadow Chancellor are so bad. I could just about deal with Chris Leslie or Chuka but please god no to Rachel Reeves. If Andy wins I want him to offer it to Yvette.
  18. Merseyside is a bit of a special case though because of the contempt for The Sun (and Murdoch in general). The dying statistic is surely misleading given that millions of people have also joined the register in that time. I agree though that it'd be very dangerous to rely on non-voters, as it is to rely on any one group.
  19. Do you not think that a culture change could drag some UKIPers and non-voters back without having to make policy concessions? I'm assuming for now that if Ed couldn't stop someone from voting Green, no leader will unless we rejected virtually all cuts. Maybe a few would be swayed by a female leader.
  20. Quite. Note how the Tories weren't doing something similar after 2005. Saying that, the opposite view (that we should be going after 2015 Tories at the expense of others) frustrates me just as much.
  21. I had to unfollow him today. I wouldn't normally mind it but he seems to recycle the same four tweets every day word for word.
  22. I'm not sure how much this will damage Burnham - potentially a double whammy of losing some union funding and scaring off people who don't like Corbyn. I think there is (or at least was) an opportunity for Labour to be anti-austerity and electable but I don't think Corbyn is it, unfortunately.
  23. Apparently we are, but we've already bought one big midfielder and should be confirming Song soon so maybe not.
  24. Saw Cooper in Manchester today. Was impressed by how casual she makes speeches look, was very good one-on-one as well.
  25. Is the remix of 'Spectrum' cheating?
