  1. What effect could 'profligacy' have when the terms of exit have already been set? I'm no Marxist (or communist), but you both do Marx a disservice.
  2. At some point it will probably become inevitable, but there are obvious teething problems that will have to be ironed out first. I voted 'Unsure' as that's basically where I stand on current proposals.
  3. Why could they blame Labour? If the election is called after we leave, the Tories will have negotiated the deal.
  4. You found one study supporting your viewpoint, and someone pointed out that it had been debunked months ago. If you can find debunkings of every report stating that Brexit will negatively affect the economy, then yes, I suppose it's back to 'wait and see'. Setting aside the use of 'slight risk' for a second - how do you propose we exercise our economic freedom when writing trade deals with larger economies like the US and China? How do you think we should go about protecting our interests?
  5. Unfortunately it's hidden behind the Telegraph paywall. Could you summarise?
  6. While it is more plausible, it should be noted that he's still only 28 now.
  7. Are you actually a bot?
  8. I think Boris subscribes to the notion that it's not a cock-up if it ends up as a newspaper headline.
  9. Is it not the same with most jobs?
  10. It's a thread for the party that was set up to campaign for leaving the EU..?
  11. What on earth does that have to do with the EU?
  12. There would be multiple MPs representing each area though, and you could have smaller constituencies with fewer MPs in more rural areas.
  13. The SNP being a good example of a party whose raison d'etre is separatism from something, but manage fairly well not to be racist.
  14. One of the many reasons I support STV is that it might stop minor parties from whining.
  15. Or if the Greens hadn't stood in Hallam in 2015, incidentally.
  16. At that point you might have considered that it wasn't really worth the obsession with leaving the EU.
  17. I'd like it to be something different, but it's not like it wasn't equally confusing and muddled before the general election.
  18. It's a UKIP discussion thread though. Those parties have their own discussion threads, where you can discuss anyone who's racist and a member of that party.
  19. That's because you were, and are, unbearably annoying.
  20. You're quite right. Fixed that now.
  21. Yes, I wouldn't have said it otherwise.
  22. Yup, this has turned into a car crash already. Corbyn is the obvious candidate as no one really saw the 2017 election result coming, and he deserves credit for confounding expectations having been pretty dire for about 18 months after he first became leader. Of course Theresa May would probably be an equally good contender, as it was her general uselessness as much as Labour's great campaign that made the result happen (and obviously she called the result in the first place). Doug Jones is the new Democratic Senator for Alabama. He deserves a mention just because of how improbable the last sentence would have seemed for most of 2017, or indeed most of the last 30 years.
  23. Merged with the general UKIP thread so we don't have to look at that ridiculous topic name.
  24. I love irony.
  25. I find it highly unlikely that even the Mail would have printed a front cover featuring three appointed judges and branded them "ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE" even ten years ago. The toxic atmosphere around the immigration debate and Brexit has emboldened them. Of course if you can find a front cover from ten years ago that was just as extremist, feel free.
