  1. Corbyn may have painted himself into a corner by 1) standing too late and 2) saying he doesn't want "charity" nominations. The former means that there were plenty of good left wing MPs who had already picked a side by the time he came forward, and the latter doesn't exactly encourage any of them to switch now.
  2. Looking forward to it. Not quite as exciting as some of the names suggested, but with the right signings it should be a decent season.
  3. Juve on penalties. Buffon to deny Messi and Pirlo to score the winner on the ground they won the World Cup. Maybe.
  4. She's got three months to get people to notice her, and possibly (hopefully not) another five years after that.
  5. Very good signing. Has a few years left in him, particularly at CM.
  6. In fairness, almost no one outside of those interested in politics is going to be paying attention regardless of who she is at this stage.
  7. I want Burnham/Creasy or Cooper/Watson. I wonder whether the lack of a DPM in this Parliament will free the Deputy up more.
  8. I like Mercy, but it reminds me too much of Starlight for me to really get into it. I'm really hoping the album isn't as full of retreads of previous songs as this is suggesting. Still love Dead Inside and Psycho though.
  9. I know, but it's still funny. The fact that the deputy contest is at the same time is really frustrating. I'm torn between two candidates for leader and deputy but I wouldn't be if I knew the winner of one in advance.
  10. Given that the Lib Dems have a 10% quota for MP endorsements to get onto the ballot, I can't imagine it was very difficult for either of them to manage.
  11. I really hope he makes it on. Won't necessarily first preference him, but I'm sick of a minority of the party controlling the argument.
  12. http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/...separate-tories Another point to Burnham. I should really keep a tally of these things, I'm also becoming torn between him and Cooper.
  13. It's hardly like any of them DON'T oppose it.
  14. The difference now compared to pretty much any time in the last 30 years is that all wings of the party are set on doing "what works" - the trouble is that no one can agree on what would.
  15. I'm surprised I was the only one who went for Avengers. These are my three favourites outside of Iron Man 1 & 3 but GOTG and TWS are just more coherent.
  16. So after deleting all their social media accounts yesterday and fueling rumours that they're breaking up, it turns out that they're having a paint job. http://41.media.tumblr.com/b7296d65e0ad91486ece2e9c67a4f89d/tumblr_npb50eciGT1rh2nuto1_1280.jpg Brilliant.
  17. Desperately sad. Already seemed to be a man of another generation of politics.
  18. It's also surely now a factor that increasing life expectancy reduces the incentive to have children young. If you were expecting to live to 70, waiting until after 30 to have children may seem borderline irresponsible. If you're likely to reach 80-85 then far less so.
  19. Bilic is still favourite. Think the board would be very wary of Bielsa's pressing game with the extra-long season in mind. They've announced £25m in the transfer kitty, but we spent £30m last summer so it's hardly going to reinvent the squad. A couple of free transfers (Konoplyanka, possibly Richards) would help. Trippier from Burnley if Jenkinson doesn't stay.
  20. If Villa had played their best then it would have been a good game but Arsenal look a class above. Next season will be very interesting, particularly if Jose has a serious go at the CL.
  21. Basically this http://labourlist.org/2015/05/understandin...fy-the-answers/
  22. Danny you're completely confusing the word "metropolitan". Labour won more in big cities because the last Labour government was great for big cities and was better at addressing their problems than it was for addressing those of shit towns in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing "sneering" about East Leeds or Manchester Gorton.
  23. Aghast at the last two to be knocked out, but then again Thor is the only obvious one to go this time.
  24. No, he should stay. Far funnier that way.
  25. She's allowed Kendall to take a lot of her momentum away, which is somewhat inevitable when you're trying to win from the middle.
