"Into the Woods" was released in my country's cinemas New Year's day and it was one of the most hype films three months ago. "Into the Woods" received three Golden Globe nominations for "Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy", "Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical" and "Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, Musical or Comedy" from which it did not win any of them. However, it received two nominations for the Bafta awards in the categories for "Best Costume Design" and "Best Makeup and Hair" and was proposed by the Academy Awards for three awards. They include "Best Supporting Actress", "Best Production Design" and "Best Costume Design". I expected that I would see one of the best films of last year, but eventually I was not satisfied with the overall content. "Into the Woods" is based on the homonymous play by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim which had won three Tony Awards out of the ten categories which was nominated in 1988! So, the cinematic adaptation was almost certain to take place sometime. The movie director is Rob Marshall who has worked with musicals in the past, like "Chicago" and "Nine". He did a great job in "Into the Woods", which was very impressive visually. It had atmospheric scenery, excellent photography, elaborate montages and nice costumes. Yet the scenario was naive and corny while some pieces of musical were quite annoying. That's why some spectators in the cinema hall completely lost their control in the last half hour of the movie after loudly talking to each other or mockingly clapping when a new song would start. The truth is that "Into the Woods" is a film for a very specific audience and it makes sense not being liked by many people because they are not used to these kinds of movies. The film was made for artistic and commercial reasons. So, it could have been shorter so that it would be more bearable for the whole audience. However, I believe that many people went to see it because of the nominations it received in all glamour events but also for the amazing cast that includes renowned and much loved actors. "Into the Woods" is a very successful movie in the Box Office as it is in the top ten of the most commercial musicals ever! However, I don't think that it has also been in the top ten of the preferences of viewers regarding musicals since it has received a moderate average score on IMDb (6,3). Personally, I found it intolerable and burdensome in some parts and asked desperately to finish during the last ten minutes. I regard very tasteless most tracks that played and the only thing that saves this movie is the very remarkable production.

We have to admit that Amy Adams hasn't played many powerful characters in her movies so far..For example, she hasn't a similar role like Erin Brockovich in "Erin Brockovich", Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady", Queen Elizabeth II in "The Queen", Aileen Wuornos in "Monster", Maggie Fitzgerald in "Million Dollar Baby", Marge Gunderson in "Fargo", Annie Wilkes in "Misery", Clarice Starling in "The Silence of the Lambs", Norma Rae Webster in "Norma Rae" etc. All of them won the Oscar for "Best Actress". She usually plays the good and sensitive woman with a few exceptions like her roles in "The Master" and "American Hustle". In my opinion, she hasn't given her best performance yet. However, she has the potential to do it.

It's a nice movie. I'm sure that you will enjoy it a lot. I just saw it that you have them in your personal list. Many critics said that "Big Eyes" should have been nominated for "Best Original Song". Col9Av1ydS4

"Big Eyes" is the latest film by Tim Burton, which was released New Year's day in Greek theaters. It is based on a true story and the two main roles are performed by Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz. The film was nominated for three Golden Globes, including "Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy", "Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy" and "Best Original Song" from which Amy Adams was the big winner. The film has also been proposed by Bafta for "Best Actress in a Leading Role" and "Best Production Design" but it seemed that the Academy Awards was not particulary moved by this film and for this reason it stayed out of the competition. "Big Eyes" features comic and dramatic elements. I thought that it might be a little boring before I went to see it, but eventually "Big Eyes" was very pleasant on the big screen. The film's name is a reference to the famous portraits of children with very large eyes which were painted by Margaret Keane. Her acquaintance with the second husband was decisive after he promoted her work and made it recognizable in all of America during the 50's and 60's. With one important difference though: He displayed her works as if they were his own and in the end, they had to go to court after the scandal was made public. The scenario is interesting, the dialogues are well written and the image is filled with very bright colors. Besides, all the movies of Tim Burton's have this feature in directing. It has good music and convinces that the story progresses at that time based on the sets and the clothes of the cast. The performances are very good by both actors and Amy Adams once again proves that she can play any role. The problem is that the characters who she plays everytime are a little lukewarm and weak compared to other Oscar female characters. I think that is the main reason why she was deprived of the Golden Statuette whenever she is proposed. Except of course, her performance in "American Hustle" who played a very dynamic female character but coincided with the excellent performance of Cate Blanchett in "Blue Jasmine". However, Tim Burton did right by choosing her for "Big Eyes" and there was chemistry between the leading couple. "Big Eyes" is not one of those movies that has big success and this is evidenced by the experience so far in the Box Office. It is a very special story that attracts very specific audience to go see it. However, Tim Burton presented it in such a way so as to be suitable for wide consumption. Nevertheless, it has gathered a relatively good rating on IMDb and generally received positive reviews from experts in the film industry. It is not of the best films by Tim Burton, but I think it's worth watching for the overall results. 2xD9uTlh5hI

I watched it with my best friend in the cinema when it was released in my country. We totally disappointed. We laughed with story and the plot. "Atonement" was totally robbed. One of the most unfair winnings for me.
  11. I think that "Avatar' is one of the greatest movies ever! Nobody can touch James Cameron. This man is a living legend! I also loved "Titanic' which I found it a great movie. I couldn't help but wonder why a love story has to be a bad movie..All the haters of Titanic say the same phrase (a love story). "Cloud Atlas" is one of the most underrated movies of the last decade.

There wasn't any surprise yesterday. All the winners were big contenders. However, the most disappointing award was "Ida" for me. A boring movie with a meaningless script. The same happened with "The Great Beauty" last year.

This is a tough one for me. I love the majority of these movies. Best: Slumdog Millionaire Worst: No Country For Old Men Song: Skyfall However, I don't want to discuss your bad comment about "Crash". You need to watch it again.

They have obsession with Michael Bay. He's not a bad director. However, he has a lot of haters (especially critics and hipsters) but many viewers like watching his movies. Kelsey Grammer is not a good actor. They choose him because of his appearance. He totally deserves this award.

"Grace of Monaco" is the one of the latest movies by Nicole Kidman which was released in Greek theaters on Christmas Day. However, in most European countries, it was released last May and June and the very late show in Greece can not be explained in a logical way. "Grace of Monaco" was the official opening film of last year's Cannes Film Festival but was screened out of competition. Producers meant to release this film at the end of November 2013 but there were some problems and disagreements. It was rescheduled for March last year and then for May. The protagonist of the film is Nicole Kidman and was the main reason to watch "Grace of Monaco" in cinema. Do not expect to see the biography of Grace Kelly on the big screen. "Grace of Monaco" is based on a specific period of her life after she had stopped starring in Hollywood films. The director Olivier Dahan and screenwriter Arash Anel gave more emphasis to the diplomatic incident that existed between France and Monaco (1962), with the crisis of the marriage between Princess Grace with Prince Rainier III of Monaco. The film is pleasant in the beginning but we quickly realize that there isn't anything to really see in this case. The interpretations were nice, it had beautiful photography and the content was quite enlightening when it hadn't to do with the psychology and concerns of the princess. Especially for someone who is not familiar with the political events of that time. Nicole Kidman literally shines in this film but mainly for her disarming appearance rather than her performance. Unfortunately, the movie from a point on had so many clichés, which outperformed all the clichés of all films I watched last year. It was like watching the story of the "grieving princess". If this exists in literature. Let alone, the director did so many close-ups on the face of Nicole Kidman which looked like he was obsessed with her. "Grace of Monaco" didn't have the expected success in most countries which viewed the movie. The remarkable thing is that it had better earnings in China and Japan than compared with European countries, although the latter had direct contact with the life of Grace Kelly. Moreover, it received lukewarm and negative reviews from film critics while has amassed a modest average score on IMDb (5.6). However, I imagine that the female audience would have liked it more especially for the glamor and glitz that the movie carries during the whole duration. It's not one of the worst films of last year but it hasn't got those elements that would have made it pretty good. bFYmYWa348c

I totally loved "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" when I watched it many years ago. I also enjoyed the first movie and I liked "Terminator Salvation". However, "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" is my least favourite of the series. The new part is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures on July 1, 2015! Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his role and Emilia Clarke with Jason Clarke will be newcomers. I wouldn't say that the official trailer is very impressive but I hope it will be something decent. In September 2014, Paramount announced a new trilogy with two sequels set for May 19, 2017 and June 29, 2018 based on its wikipedia page. 62E4FJTwSuc
