Sherlock Holmes (2009)
The time is 1891, and the place is still London, but Ritchie can't be bothered with period details, especially dialogue. Noticing that the villainous Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong) has scratched bloody messages all over his filthy prison cell, Holmes quips, "Love what you've done with the place." Holmes scholars will cry their eyes out over this update from hell. Rachel McAdams is mere window dressing as a mystery woman from Holmes' past. In place of romance, we get cheesy computer effects (that collapsing bridge — please). Ritchie is all about the whooshing and headbanging, leaving no space between Holmes' words to savor their meaning. Downey is irresistible. The movie, not so much.

Provinces Of Night
E.F. Bloodworth has returned to his home - a forgotten corner of Tennessee - after forty years of roaming. The wife he walked out on has withered and faded, his three sons are grown and angry. Warren ...( read more read more... )is a womanizing alcoholic, Boyd is driven by jealousy to hunt down his wife and her lover, and Brady puts hexes on his enemies from his mamma's porch. Only Fleming, the old man's grandson, treats him with the respect his age commands, and sees past all the hatred to realize the way it can poison a man's soul. It is ultimately the love of Raven Lee, a sloe-eyed beauty from another town, that gives Fleming the courage to reject this family curse.

THe Wolfman
The sets and the makeup have a really fake yet interesting look to them. I like the fact that the atmosphere was sort of tacky like Universal's old films. The trees look fake in the forest, the fog looks like it's coming from a fog machine, and the makeup resembles a lot of the look of the 1941 film. Some may see these elements as stupid ones but I think they're fun to be around along with the black and white Universal title at the beginning. There is one scene that has true quality to it. Towards the middle of the film, we see Lawrence Talbot transform for the second time into the monster. He ends up running from the Scotland Yard inspector atop London's rooftops. The music and cinematography are very well done in this sequence and blend fantastically together. In the 1941 version, Lon Chaney had to perform with only makeup on and nothing else. He had to act, show emotion, and find depth in his character. Here, in this definite modernized version of the story, there are only a few valuable shots of the Wolf Man in makeup. The rest is CGI. Benicio Del Toro doesn't have to act much as the fully transformed creature. It is controlled by a computer now, not an actor. We don't get that true, raw, elegant character performance as much today which is unfortunate because this is part of movie magic. The cast is not as great as you would think. Anthony Hopkins isn't that good, just annoying. And Emily Blunt's performance is one note. Overall, this is a bland movie. The pacing is what makes it poor and it's very predictable. It's only interesting when the Wolf Man transforms and when there are guts flying on the screen. I honestly don't think this movie could've been scarier than it is though. Nothing, no matter what you do, can make a scary "Wolf Man" movie because he isn't a horrifying character and he is not real, as opposed to a movie like "The Strangers" which could really happen. Do you think anything can be made into horror? This remake could’ve been worse but

List of Greatest Actors Of All Time
1) Johnny Depp “I don’t think he is sexy but the man can act! He is very diverse and agile. He can be so funny, elusive, mysterious, boyish, wise, psycho, happy , sad, grevious, etc. And I believe every moment of his characters.” 2) Marlon Brando “Humphrey Bogart: I came out here with one suit and everybody said I looked like a bum. Twenty years later Marlon Brando came out with only a sweatshirt and the town drooled over him.” 3) Tom Hanks “Nominated for 5 academy awards for playing a little kid in a man’s body, a troubled WWII captain, a modern Robinson Caruso and his two Oscar winning roles as a gay man and a mentally challenged overachiever. Hanks is extremely versatile and is brilliant in both comedic and dramatic roles.” 4) Al Pacino “An underspoken, under-rated actor. He is so very good at what he does. I love to watch him, almost like you can see his character’s thinking. He is very transparent and becomes the man he’s pretending to be on screen.” 5) Anthony Hopkins “He is absolutely magnificent in every role he plays. If the Oscars were awarded to the best acting performance of the year and not for a performance that is particularly excellent for a given actor, Hopkins would have won a dozen by now.” 6) Jack Nicholson “Hey did we forget Jack, "heres Johnny" let not forget the greatest actor ever!!!” “Simply put Jack is the man! One the most versatile (great as a psychopath, the best. see The shining, cookoos nest, The Departed). Who the hell are the crack heads that consider Jared Leto or Johnny Depp or even Brando better than Jack? Depp is a very versatile actor but I don’t consider him to be great at any of them. Leto? Requime for a dream he played a very good part but thats it really.. Brando, aside from The Godfather and maybe On the waterfront was all that great an actor (he was good in Apocalyps now but had to short a part)” 7) Russell Crowe “Makin movies makin song anf fightin round the woarld!” 8)Humphrey Bogart “Bogey’s natural talent and astounding presence on the screen is simply second to none, as yet. I’m an avid film enthusiast and critic, and I haven’t yet seen anyone equal bogey’s great performances. In my opinion he’s the greatest screen actor to date.” 9) Leonardo Di Caprio “Say what you want about his heart throb status and his presence in the teen magazines, he is still a spectacular actor. It’s not his fault that he became so wildly popular in the under 16 female demographic.” 10) Denzel Washington “Let’s not put Denzel in a catagory of best Black actor. He is a GREAT actor period.” “I believe that not only is Denzel Washington a good African American Actor, but rather he is a talented performer regardless. I think that most directors could pretty much assign him the responsibilities of any role that was not dependent on color to portray, whether that be from a movie script of stage play since he got his acting start on the dramatic theater stage performing in front of live audiences...and he would do as well a job as any other performer in successfully bringing the character to life enjoyably. He is very entertaining to watch due to his ability to become very animated and encompass each character he portrays.”

Oscar Predictions
I love Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges. I hope they make a movie together some day. I do NOT make 6 figures, but I do make $30K working 4 hours a day. The internet has opened up so many REAL jobs! (snipurl.com/realjobs) has hundreds of companies listed like AT&T, Hilton, U-Haul, Convergys, VIP Desk, 1-800-Flowers and West. This list is FREE and is NOT A SCAM. These companies are offering employment positions. I can't post full links because of this forum. You have to cut what's in the parenthesis and paste it. Hope this helps!
