B Listed on Radio 1 now. :) In the way of the other two big releases that week, Icona Pop remain on the B List and John Newman is A Listed now... not sure if Digital Spy haven't updated their single releases list, but it has John Newman being released on 23rd June rather than 30th? Might just be a case of them not updating it but I don't recall him ever having a release date of the 23rd and then being pushed back to the 30th? Might be mistaken. I know some are worried a little about Gentleman but I hope and think it's being released at the right time, in the sense that there are elements of funkiness that are quite similar to the sound/style of Blurred Lines and Get Lucky, which people seem to be lapping up right now. I know they're completely different sound wise-ish and lyrically, but I mean more along the lines of it being funky/groovier if that makes sense (probably not). Hopefully someone gets the jist of what I'm trying to say! :P Moving on though, this song is such a grower. Still needs more power/bite in the chorus though.
  2. Have Digital Spy not updated their single review release date lists in a while? It has John Newman down for the 23rd June, but I thought his single was released on the 30th. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/sitecomp...ease-diary.html

Talk of a tour next year with all five of them is far too exciting - it'll be what, just over 2 years since they last toured if they tour early next year and also more importantly, they'll be a five piece again because none of them will - touch wood - be pregnant :P I hope they fly on the tour. I know that's a standard thing to do nowadays but can you imagine Quen Rochelle flying around above all us peasants? She'd lap it up haha. And lots of pyro this time.
  4. Have Stooshe left the iTunes top 100 singles already?! Couldn't find it anywhere when I searched, and I'm sure yesterday they were around the #65 mark.

    I sure hope so....

    C Listed on Radio 1. :)

Hopefully they'll add The Sats' Gentleman today. They've playlisted all 14 of their singles so I don't see why they'd snub this one now, especially off the back of What About Us going to #1 and being A Listed for 6 weeks.

There we go! It's a start so nobody can complain. :P It doesn't help that stations are still heavily playing What About Us, which is probably holding back Gentleman. I don't think Kiss will playlist Gentleman at all as that's primarily a dancey/electro pop radio station, hence why they did play WAU but won't with Gentleman so it won't get up the airplay charts as high as WAU did IMO, but yeah, people need to stop worrying in such dramatic style and labelling it a disaster or a flop too quickly (like people did with What About Us - and look what happened there). They should get Radio 1 and Capital on side coming off the back of What About Us now. I think they'll get another top 10 to add to their collection at the very least. :) I have seen a lot of people who don't usually like the girls music say they like the single so that's good.

They're attending the Glamour Awards tonight. Don't think they're nominated for anything and it's not a 'big' event but yay for more red carpet dresses!

That would be because Best British Single has nothing to do with opinion or whether it's critically acclaimed. It's down to airplay and sales, where the Brit comittee/board or whatever they're called compile a top 10 of singles based on those two factors, and then the public vote for their favourite single from that final 10 leading up to the Brits and on the night I think.

Is there a possibility of this being up for a Brit with Best Single in Feb? I know it's very doubtful and it depends on how many other UK artists drop singles until whenever the cut off date is (probably enough to put the girls out of the running) but still. :P EDIT: Actually yeah, pretty much a no to a Brit nom lol. Checked the YTD thread with top 20 biggest UK singles in the chart forum - Bastille, Rudimental, 1D, Passenger, Disclosure, The Saturdays, Duke Dumont and James Arthur all feature... add in other big British acts releasing throughout the rest of the year too and I doubt a lot that they'll be in with a shot. Oh well. Ignore this post. :P

Some sense at last! What will be will be. Every now and then it's all so over dramatic and OTT with negativity far too quickly and reading into every little thing that it's actually off-putting coming in here to post now. I'm not saying it needs to all happy and compliments all round, nor need it be a completely pro-Sats forum where we have to talk positively about them at all times, but jeez, it'd be great if some could stop overreacting at every little thing and predicting the end of them with every opportunity. People act like it's almost life or death at times. It happens with nearly every release, I know, but it's even more irritating now. People raise their expectations too high. Instead of predicting how they'll flop, calling it a flop weeks before release and panicking over airplay, or how they'll split, how they're finished and so on with every single release just enjoy the fact that they're still around making music while they still are instead of moaning and overreacting! Gentleman may pay off, it may not - nobody knows until the week it charts.

YouTube views aren't poor though.... it's doing second best in views after What About Us. Not amazingly well, but their videos never do. Several of their singles and 30 Days especially took well, pretty much 30 days and then some to get to a million views lol. This isn't going to go top 5 though, anywhere from #7 to #10 and a short stay in the top 40 IMO.

Great to see the video at over a million views now on YouTube in five or so days. It's done well to garner that many, their second best video 'launch' after What About Us - used to take them around a whole month to get there. :)
  15. They'll probably make Not Giving Up On Love the next single I'd think.
  16. Well, clearly The Sats are the exception to your logic because they've had the split rumours/talk for at least 3 years. :P I see this going to #7 or #8. I'd love top 5.

Hmm, I am a bit surprised given how much they supported What About Us and it going to #1 and all, I thought it'd be a cert to get at least 4 weeks before the release on the playlist coming off the back of it all, especially if they've now playlisted John Newman and Icona Pop. Although both their tracks will both do much better than Gentleman will so perhaps they're holding off with Gentleman for a week so they don't clutter the playlist up with a handful of future releases all at once and they chose the two that are more likely to be more popular/radio and listener friendly? Deluded and clutching at straws, yes. :P Anyway, I do think though it's a little early to be a bit dramatic and say they're 'snubbing' them though, especially when they've playlisted all 14 of their singles. I think/hope they'll be playlisted next week so they've 3ish weeks on the playlist before the single is out, probably doing C-B-A. The single won't do big things so I'm just hoping for a top 10 peak (even if it's #8-#10). There's enough of a fanbase to be confident of that at least, right? Fingers crossed they add them next week. They definitely need to try and do lots of TV promo for this if radio doesn't start picking up. EDIT: What About Us was first playlisted on 20th Feb with the release on March 17, so yeah, around 4 weeks on the playlist before the actual single release. If Gentleman isn't added next week (5th June) then I'd worry. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=150654 I just hope they don't lose too much support/ground if this release all goes a bit pear shaped.

Maybe The Sats should sign to Global Talent if TW are now top 10 on radio. :P That's the only reason The Wanted are so high so seeing them up there isn't worrying, more of an eye roll moment really.

What makes you think that? As far as I remember, Radio 1 have playlisted all of their singles... even if Gentleman isn't playlisted for long I still think they will. Plus they're coming off the back of What About Us, which Radio 1 had on the playlist for around 7/8 (?) weeks.... I think they'll be okay to get playlisted.

^ Red was performed on The Voice last night. :)

Very happy! Was worried a few weeks ago it wouldn't get 10 weeks top 40 but yay! :D

Shame BBC3 didn't show the Gentleman performance but never mind (the highlights show showed Notorious, All Fired Up, Higher and What About Us). I enjoyed the Gentleman performance/routine, wish there was a little more personality in it though. Little things like Una staring at the other girls as she sings 'Not a lady if always on your knees....' and Vanessa pointing to the other girls with her 'if he's cheating on me, he'll probably cheat on you...' like they both do in the video. I do like the routine though, but just think it'd bring it all to life a bit more, and have some more character/personality.

I think Gentleman is doing second best after WAU in terms of YouTube views. Definitely so if we're going by recent singles. 650k views already is pretty good all things considered. Most of their previous singles have taken a lot longer to reach that amount/more with views. What About Us got a million in just over a day but like already said, that was due to the hype of launching in America, people checking them out before the TV show aired and having the Vevo Lift thing plugging the video etc. We shouldn't be too worried yet. :) I just want another top 5 single. Top 3 would be great but top 5/10 probably more realistic given the other artists releasing around the same time.

What About Us #39 on UK iTunes Boost from Gentleman vid perhaps? Or just very close between all the songs.

We've got just over six weeks until release haven't we? I think it's fairly certain to say this is definitely going to cull some, if not all, of the momentum and hype they'd gained from What About Us, but at the same time it's so different to WAU that it's getting people talking, good or bad, it's still getting a reaction and noticed. It's too marmite to do much for them IMO but hopefully it starts picking up airplay wise in the next week or so. I don't think we should worry too much at the moment. It'll be between John Newman and Icona Pop for #1, The Sats will probably be looking at low top 10 or #5/#6.
