They're never going to be truly massive or be huge sellers so I'm not gonna bother myself worrying about all of that now - there was enough of that with the OYR era. From now on I'm just going to appreciate and enjoy the music, which is more important. They were with Rodney Jerkins yesterday. Telephone Part II please. :D

I don't want it on the album, it might mean missing out on a recent track they've recorded (greedy, perhaps :P). At best they can put it on a deluxe version of the album or something...

Yeah that's the website where I tried to listen to them, but there's just white gaps seperated between each remix title. Is that the same for anyone else?

Apparently the remixes of What About Us have leaked. They also seem to be on some music blog sites and fansites but I can't click to play them, the space where the music player should be is just a white rectangular space instead. Boo. :(

I hope things start moving quickly soon for them stateside, obviously it'll all kick off around January but hopefully they manage to have some success before Little Mix head over there and blow up (probably around April/May/summer if they're following 1D's timeframe which they seem to be - summer single, November single/album, January/February tour... then heading to the US after). I love both groups but I don't 'connect'/identify with LM like I do with The Sats though (corny I know haha) and it is a little disheartening to watch LM explode with all the hype and interest while The Sats just plod along. I'd like for them to both make it in the US but can't see it happening. Little Mix probably have the edge with US potential with Wings and DNA, their image, wider appeal and the team behind them. They'll be massive globally. Can't help but feel like they'll overshadow and probably kill off The Sats out there and here, back at home...? :mellow: I think Little Mix will have the 1D style success and The Sats with The Wanted's type success (though I'd rather it be the other way round haha). It's about the music for me but I just wish we could celebrate the girls for once and have a truly successful album campaign, there's never much to be really happy about with their sales or overall success so I just want them to be huge as they deserve to be but also so we can finally celebrate kinda instead of being full of hope and disappointment... 'oh, it's okay', 'maybe next time' and 'it's not bad' at the end of each era... if that makes sense. I hate comparing but I will be here ha... I just listened to DNA and then What About Us, there's so much more energy/life/strength and thought been put into DNA.. it's interesting to listen to it.. it does sound like a huge hit compared to What About Us, it sounds so average and dull from the live versions. :( Obviously we don't have the studio version of What About Us but some of the live videos are pretty clear in sound quality so I doubt there will be much difference. Sats need something like DNA/Wings - not outright carbon copies sonically but just a track that truly showcases their vocals and makes a statement about them. Wings is like an updated version of Spice Girls' Wannabe but not a blatant copy, it's unique but has similar elements - just my opinion and I'm sure many won't agree haha but yeah... The Sats need a song like that, though maybe it was Higher. What About Us doesn't sound like people will take notice of them out there or think 'wow, they've arrived'. It doesn't have that effect. On me, anyway lol. They need to step it up to compete. Anyhow, hopefully America takes to The Sats, early signs seem good but it's whether they can sustain that and translate it into 'sales'. Hopefully they get some decent TV promo too. They were back in the studio with The Jam yesterday after two days of recording/writing with Diane Warren looking on their official twitter. Sounds like Diane wrote at least 3 songs for/with them. If it all falls flat on the US front and the album doesn't do well neither there or here at home (at home it probably won't, this is The Sats after all, meh), then what do they do? Bow out after a hits compilation next year? 5/6 years together is a nice run but I want them to carry on and keep giving us music, I wouldn't care if it sold truck loads (that would be nice, don't get me wrong :P) or sold 10 copies, it's about the music for me... but it's whether that's feasible from a label perspective, right?

Thought I'd bump this thread since we can now definitely add Diane Warren and Darkchild to the list of who's working with the girls on the new album. Interested to see if they've got any other American producers/writers lined up. :)

^ He interviewed them last week. Last Friday (14th) to be exact. He met them in New York, the day they flew back home. Gaaah, going off on a tangent here but it's sad seeing negative comments about the girls anywhere haha. I try to ignore them but it's pathetic how much what they say bothers me lol. It seems some people suddenly have mystic powers and can see the future when they start sounding off how they're going to be huge flops in the US, it'll be embarrassing for them, questioning why they're even bothering and so on etc. Island Def Jam/Mercury are under the Universal Records umbrella aren't they? Or are they seperate?

Hmm, I bought the deluxe version today but Big Hoops seems to finish abruptly at 3:47 when the iTunes store page for the album lists it as 3:52 in length so it seems like there's a few seconds missing from the end of the song... unless iTunes have it wrong lol or whether it's meant to sound like that or not I don't know but it doesn't sound like the end of the song. Just wondered if that was the same for anyone else? (I have OCD when it comes to things like this haha). :blush: Nice album though. Spirit Indestructible, Parking Lot, Waiting for the Night and End of the World are my favourites so far. Like Miracles, Circles and Believers too.

I think it's released in January in both territories. They won't be on XF this year, if ever so maybe we shouldn't dwell on that too much this year haha. Apparently (emphasis on apparently) the likes of Stooshe, Cover Drive and Lawson - among others who've been around over the last year/few months - are potentially performing on there this year though... which is annoying seeing as they've only been around five minutes but they both have albums to promote around the time of the live shows whereas The Sats won't. Lawson - and Cover Drive I think - are also signed to Global Talent so no surprise that they may be getting an appearance. Anywaaaaay... no more XF talk from me. :P Great to see Darkchild involved in the new era. I like his work. I want a fierce R&B jam like Lose My Breath by Destiny's Child and a full on pop uptempo like Gaga's Telephone please! :D

Sats world just gets better and better right now!! Watch something come along and jinx it lol. :P They're apparently working with Darkchild for the new album (it's been in The Sun who are usually quite spot on with Sats stuff, they reported the girls were signed to Mercury in the US before the girls said anything, and I saw a tweet someone posted three-ish days ago with someone saying about seeing the girls at Darkchild's place). Just in case people aren't familiar with what he's produced, there's a list on Wiki and elsewhere online too but here's some highlights: Gaga/Beyonce - Telephone Destiny's Child - Say My Name and Lose My Breath Bieber - As Long As You Love Me Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops and The Spirit Indestructible Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up Beyonce - Deja Vu Spice Girls - Let Love Lead The Way and Holler (and other tracks) Whitney - It's Not Right, But It's Okay Britney - He About To Lose Me and Don't Keep Me Waiting J Lo - If You Had My Love :w00t: He worked with MJ, TLC, Backstreet Boys (remember Mollie tweeted about working with a producer who's worked with them and Britney a few weeks ago??) too. :) Plenty of artists across the years. I'm excited for them, everything seems to be going well for once... please let's not have a cock up happen for this era/campaign haha! I do prefer his older work to the newer stuff he's done with Furtado and Bieber though. Dr Luke/Max Martin/Stargate would just be the icing on the cake and probably guaranteed US smashes but I'll forget about them as I very much doubt The Sats could get them haha... but who knows? Be great to get them with Carl Falk/Rami Yacoub again who did White Lies and 1D's What Makes You Beautiful etc. Just listening to What About Us again... the loud heavy drum beat through the whole song is epic! Like a carnival sounding beat. I kinda wish the intro had a bit of 'explosiveness' with the drum sound exploding at the start before the instrumental before Rochelle starts singing kicks in, and again when the instrumental fades out another drum sounding bash to give the intro/outro a bit of oomph to it. Will wait for studio version to fully judge but while I reaaaally like the sound of it, I don't know if America will sit up and take notice of them with What About Us?

Chasing Lights :wub: I hope they have a similar ballad on the next album and they perform it in the US on TV and it makes them blow up even more, and America falls in love with them.. oh for this to happen! :P

I'm pleased it seems more poppy/less dancey than expected... I like the sound of the hard drum-esque beat in the background throughout the track (it seems to always be there apart from the 'whatever the weather....' sections in case anyone was wondering what I'm on about haha).

Are there ad libs towards the end of the track? The videos have been taken down now and I couldn't really make out if there were or not, I think there were and I hope I'm right because they sounded great. :D And I might be wrong but it sounds like in the intro to the song it has a voice talking.. can't make out what was said but it sounds like it was part of the track?? Choreography looks great too. Nailed it! They've gone down a storm over there, so many people praising and liking them who saw the girls. And lol at some people on Twitter saying The Sats won't win anyone over with their red carpet look at the VMAs... er, it's an awards show.. of course they're gonna glam it up... they're hardly gonna turn up in jeans and check shirts are they?! :P I like the sound of the track without Sean Paul.. hmm, I hope he doesn't mess it too much or they replace a good part of the track with his input. I just hope people don't get bored of it or it suffers illegal downloads etc by the time January comes... I really want this campaign to blow up and not get messed up for them.

Well I like the sound of it, but I don't know if it's debut US single material... I don't think it's 'big' enough or makes much of a statement about them to get people sitting up and taking notice of them/buying it? I hope I'm wrong! :P I really hope they handle this release right.

It'll be interesting to see if Capital do get back onboard with What About Us. I really, really hope it does well both sides of the pond, and has longevity/widespread appeal outside the fanbase too.. hopefully it strikes a chord with the general public and they buy into it too. They really need to kill it and be on top of their game now what with Little Mix/Stooshe around, they can't afford to make the same mistakes with this release. I hope the song itself is a bit fun and poppy, has a bit of life/personality to it. I know they said it's dancey but I hope not too full on and it still retains a bit of their 'pure pop' sound..

Since people at the US club where What About Us was played the other night were replying to fans on Twitter etc about the song, so I guess you can say similar as in whether it's good etc - is Frankie right - is it really the girls' best single? Do you think it could it do well stateside or is it too dancey? I'm excited but nervous. :P There better be a big chorus! Yikes, January is such a long wait. I hope revealing stuff now doesn't kill the hype, cause people to get fed up before the song is played for the first time - guess we'll hear it end of November/early December... and I hope it doesn't leak either!
