  3. This is who will replace D wen he finishes Chicago on friday. Terence Maynard Joins Cast of West End's CHICAGO Darius Campbell will finish his current run as Billy Flynn in CHICAGO on Saturday 24 December. Terence Maynard will return to the role on Monday 26 December. America Ferrera and Amra-Faye Wright will star as Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly until Saturday 31 December. From Monday 2 January, the roles of Roxie and Velma will be played by Sarah Soetaert and Rachel McDowall. James Doherty will continue as Amos Hart, Jasna Ivir as Mama Morton and R. Now the most successful Broadway export ever, CHICAGO had its final performance at the Cambridge Theatre on 27 August, establishing the record for the longest running American musical. During its 5-year run there, the multi award-winning musical played to over 2 million people, notched up numerous records and became in the process the West End’s longest running revival ever. CHICAGO originally opened at the Adelphi Theatre on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and immediately became a sell-out hit. CHICAGO won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for 'Outstanding Musical Production' as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for 'Best Musical'. CHICAGO transferred from the Adelphi Theatre to the Cambridge Theatre in April 2006. CHICAGO, which is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. CHICAGO is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie. The West End production of CHICAGO is staged by the entire original Broadway creative team. 10. A blog from some1 called Tara Walsh Theatre tickets to return! Chicago was our first stop by Tara Walsh on Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 We’re thrilled to have theatre tickets back on site soon (hopefully next week)! We love going to the theatre, it’s always a real London experience, and gives us an excuse to feel cultured! Last night we were lucky enough to see the incredible Chicago in London’s West End, starring Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera and the very impressive Darius Campbell from Pop Idol (remember the Britney Spears routine?). Scantily clad men and women opened the show with Velma (Amra-Faye Wright ) performing the famed ‘All that Jazz’ to a rupture of cheers – we were hooked. Barely blinking throughout the entire performance, the musical numbers, dancing and acting had us captivated – and of course, those outfits didn’t hurt! Darius Campbell played the role of Billy Flynn flawlessly. His smooth, smarmy way fitted the character perfectly and we can see why he is the youngest actor to play the role, he was brilliant. His solos were powerful and controlled, something he no doubt learnt from his stint on Popstar to Operastar. America Ferrera however, is not your typical Roxy Hart. Frumpy and unattractive were the criteria for her character Ugly Betty, but in Chicago she was sexy and wowed the crowd receiving several standing ovations with her witty performance and seductive singing. We especially liked the puppet routine with Darius Campbell. It was funny and charming and we wish there were more scenes like that! We thoroughly enjoyed watching and left with an overriding urge to sing our conversations and dance along the street. If only life was more like a musical… So keep your eyes peeled for theatre tickets on BrandAlley soon. With the fantastic discounts that will be on offer, it will make enjoying the arts that bit more affordable. Let us know what your favourite musical is? Chicago is topping the bill so far for us!

Darius's Flynn 'based on Cowell' (UKPA) – 4 hours ago Chicago star Darius Campbell has revealed he's based his portrayal of scheming lawyer Billy Flynn on his old mentor, Simon Cowell. Darius, who was known as Darius Danesh when he made his first bid for TV fame in ITV show Popstars, also appeared in the first Pop Idol, which was eventually won by Will Young. He is reprising his role as Flynn, who makes his clients into celebrities in a bid to win over the jury, opposite Ugly Betty star America Ferrera in the musical set in prohibition-era Chicago. Darius said: "He's the consummate businessman and a wonderful guy and there's a lot of Simon Cowell in Billy Flynn in terms of the way he approaches things and I recognise that in terms of the character." He said shows like the X Factor made "entertainment out of people's tragedy and desperation", but admitted he still watched them and credited Simon with persuading him to take on the role in Chicago in the first place. He said: "I'm incredibly grateful for the experiences I've had and all the opportunities that it opened up and to be able to call Simon Cowell a friend and to be able to have dinner with him." Darius, who also appeared in Guys And Dolls and Gone With The Wind in the West End, is planning his next album after his run in Chicago finishes and said it will be a "modern take on crooning", influenced by Cole Porter. Chicago reopens at the Garrick Theatre in London's West End on Monday November 7.
