thanks for that info - helps to clear it up a lot... its probably a case of double counting then rather thana nasty mixup. We were just concerned as to how the 1 track single ended up int he album charts.. :) the live album it is taken from isn't even available to buy yet..

Morning everyone :) - I'm hoping that someone here can shed some insight on a debate weve been having over on the delirious fan page... currently iTunes has the live version of delirious' single @ the low 20's on the singles chart AND @ number 8 on its album chart. from my understanding - that seems to indicate that they have somehow split the sales? logic is as follows... either A) they are double counting it on both charts... (and all is fine as the OCC will just ignore the album registration) Or B) there are some gremlins with the listing and its counting sometimes as an album and sometimes (correctly as a single) and all is not fine as the "album" sales will get ignored by the OCC from my limited knowledge of the uk market I don't see it possible that the same number of dloads can land you in both places (you'd need a lot more to get 8 on the album chart than you do to hit 25 on the singles chart??) or am I wrong and is option A the more likely? would apreciate any input people can give me :)

id agree on a normal week with a normal song - however (from some rough guestimations on the fb campaign) the song is being bought on amazon a lot more often than a regular track would. Amazon has it @ 49p compared to Itunes 79p - and also a lot of the contributors to our campaign are not your "usual" music downloaders... and many do not even have itunes installed.. (so we send them to amazon as its much simpler to set up) yes number 2/3 is more likely at this point but with 3 versions in the chart (one still miscatagorised by itunes.. were trying to get them to fix it.. its still in the top 10 album chart as a 79p single) and Good Friday/Easter Saturday to come (which are kinda what the whole thing is about anyway) I'm not willing to conceed just yet :) happy to be proved wrong though

its better than that.. delirious are ahead of SFG on Amazon (we have 1 and 2 there and 14) and HMV (again 1 and 2) add into that that we only moved into 4th place a few hours ago.. so have made up 10% on SFG in 3 hours... ok I am hardly neutral and objective on this.. but if I do not think number 1 is a done deal for SFG yet

thanks for the bars :) this will be a lot closer than the bars show - History maker is about 50% of SFG.. but has 2 versions right now Itunes has one of the mischarted.. the LIVE version is showing in the top 10 of the Album chart... so should be doing a lot better than the 26th it shows here as far as we can tell..

The only reason it has been released is due to fan pressure - the band themselves never aimed to release it and if I'm honest it is far from thier best song. It is ironic that in a week that they will score thier highest chart position ever (previous best was #16 in '99) the lead singer is on holiday with his family in the states and even the guy who set up this campaign in the first place is away @ centerparks. The media interviews they have done have been dodging in and out of family commitments - come to think of it its amazing that the campaign is working at all..... the band themselves are donating all of the proceeds from the sales to charity. Delirious themselves never signed to a major label in the UK - they set up thier own one.. (furious records) and as a result never got any airplay on any national radio network throughout thier careers. there was wild celebration over ont he FB group when radio one actually played the single this afternoon - twas the first time ever that a delirious track had been played on national radio outside of a top 40 countdown. We are a pationate lot over there - but are trying to keep this campaign within the rules and within the spirit of the rules - were activily discouraging people downloading more than 3 versions for themselves and trying to do this through weight of numbers rather than through gaming the system. /agreed - whatever you think of the rights and wrongs of this campaign the fact that a 15 year old recording can still sound "ok" alongside new releases is testiment to how well it was made back then. A number one placing does not look likely unless we get a massive influx of new people/dloads over the weekend and/or our lead @ HMV/Amazon is very substantial and shifts the norm of iTunes dominance of the dload market. However it is not beyond the realms of possibility and not a bad result either way to get as high as we can with practically zero airplay. Andrew

correct - but the track originally was an album track from "king of fools", which was top 20 back in '97 for a few weeks. The "studio" single that they released for this campaign has only been released as a single because a group of fans requested it to be. The track itself is identical to the '97 original.

Yep - the original recording (the one @ #4) was made in '97 as an unsigned band for thier first album... so it does sound dated. The live version the band played upto their disbandment last year sounds a lot more modern and is generally recorded a lot better. You can hear a 4 min radio edit version on youtube - just search for "Delirious? History Maker - Farewell Show" (can't post links as a newbee) or have a look on youtube for the longer full versions - sometimes they played this track live over 10-12 mins... (and yes I am a newbee here and am not really objective on this track.. - drawn mainly as i browsed for info for my involvement in the d: campaign - but I am very impressed by the data setup you have here and will probably be around for a while.. )
