So Susan Boyle enters at number 12 with sales of 412K. This album will sell bucketloads over xmas, like it or not. I would'nt be surprised if it ended up the years best selling album.

Great news, but it should have been the first single off the album imo.

Yes, Subo will probably go in at round about number 14, maybe even 13 after just 1 week. And with the xmas period coming up, its the sortof album that will shift at xmas. So I would'nt be surprised at her taking the top slot by the end of the year.

  12. Great for Lily, her debut album peaked at 20. Brits are certainly impacting the US charts in a big way!. Even Leonas album is still top 50, nearly a year since it was released. So different to a few years ago, when it was common for the whole top 100 US albums to not have a single brit entry!
  13. Err, like almost everyone it seems, Lily Allens album. It is a great album though!!. First album I've brought for ages!.
  14. Thanks Franz Ferdinand fell 19 places as well!

13 studio albums in just 8 years!. All number ones and best sellers. 7 of those in just 4 years! whilst almost continual touring at the same time. The first 2 albums occupied the number one slot in the UK albums chart for nearly a whole year! They were number one in the albums chart for almost 50% of the time between 1962 and 1970. And thats just a few of the amazing chart statistics of The Beatles. Phenominal work rate. And the musical advancements! From 'Love me do' to 'Tomorrow never knows' in just 4 years. Astonishing musical progress!.

The Beatles in 1964 had 5 songs in the US top ten. At Numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5! :o

I dont think thats the whole story(some of it, yes, but there are other factors) . After all, if that were the only reason, Leon would have sold about the same as Alex.
  18. Some comments Not many acts sell over a million 2 years in a row with basically the same album. Well done Leona Will Young will be disappointed at Rhydian pipping him. Remarkable lack of Rap/R&B in that top 30. No Leon, seems the 2007 X factor result was very strange. Female acts more popular than at any time in the past.

Lol I like most of the songs mentioned in this thread. I dont think they are 'over-rated' at all. It's just a list of songs people dont like.
  20. Hardly surprising when you consider that there are well over 50 years worth of albums. I agree with Knight, its not that strange that the majority dont sell any .
  21. No you are not. It's not my cup of tea either.
  22. I though Catherine Tate was great in Dr Who!. She was the reason I started watching it again after the awfull Freema series. Still, everyones entitled to their opinion. :) As for TOTP. That is a very good rating for the xmas day time slot, I hope they bring it back, tv needs a national chart show.
  23. Ironically, the x factor shows singers singing live and any faults or mistakes are obvious. In fact, the only singers these days we can be sure have good voices, is those that we have seen sing well live. (and, contrary to popular belief, an auto tune is really obvious when used live).
  24. I hope it comes back. There needs to be a chart music show on national TV. Im surprised ITV havent done one .Its a vacant market of which there is a demand.

Yes I was watching a Top of the pops from 1968 on BBC4 the other day. Every single one of the top twenty was male!. Not sure why female talent is recognised more these days, because there were some great female acts in the sixties that never really got chart recognition. Yes a few female acts charted, but they were by far the minority.
