Hi VC! Funny you should mention those - I often browse Haven forum and guys there seem to post a lot of those lists taken from charts on the music channels and I've often wondered why they never appear here too, as a lot of the other threads are similar across the two forums. But you post your YTD info on Haven anyway so you probably already know all this! Just thought I'd mention it, though!
  2. I remember this at the time! I was only 12 and starting to listen to the charts! It's run probably doesn't look that strange by today's chart standards, but in 1994 it was wild! I even remember mark goodier commenting on how weird it was during one of the top 40 shows!
  3. I have a smart tv which enables me to watch YouTube through their app. I also have a Spotify sub and thought maybe I could do the same (I like my music very loud, haha!) but I can't quite work out how to do it. Is there no Spotify app for smart TVs???!!!
  4. I could be wrong here, but I had it in my head that Michelle's All This Time sold 294k in 2004, meaning that she has sold no downloads between then and last year, but then sold 1,000 downloads this year? Weird, if true!
  5. shame - love that track!
  6. Does anyone know if 2 Shoes charted with Turn Me On (Turn Me Out)? It's on the music channels all the time!
  7. kylie and jason's especially for you :-)
  8. If Misha B could only make #11, I can't see this faring any better than #11-20 - but go Amelia, prove me wrong!
  9. The download age has been great for big sellers with low peaks, hasn't it! But surely the biggest selling non-T20 hit has gotta be Florence's Dog Days Are Over (~400k to this week). Unless anyone can think of something else?
  10. Is whitney houston's it's not right but it's ok (164k or something like that) the fastest ever?

I had a rifle through my Virgin book of UK singles the other day and found it has a list of the top 40 (I think it was 40) acts with the biggest singles sales in the UK - with total sales listed - and worked out that Rihanna would now be something like sixth on the list (and the tallies for the above couple of acts are not too far away from Rihanna's total). Amazing! IIRC, her sales are something like two-thirds of the number one act, which I think may have been the Beatles, but I'll check later when I get home!
  12. In this poll, though, doesn't Rita only have one #1 to date as she is just a featured artist on Hot Right Now? Nevertheless, I agree that she's definitely one to keep an eye on here... Btw, how many #1s has Lady Gaga had? Just the two?
  13. Yeah, £250 seems a bit steep by any standards if you ask me. Having studied it, it's a good read but - apart from the sales figures - I didn't think it was really any different to the end-of-year analysis they provide in the regular edition of the magazine. I don't know how they came up with that £250 price... Strikes me as 'think of a number'!

I agree. Also, I agree that parental control is a major issue here, but I don't think it's something parents bother too much about.
  15. So glad someone shares my feelings on this A1 track! It's not often a cover betters the original, but I think it rings true in the case of Take On Me!
  16. My fave 80s/90s star Taylor Dayne (who was SOOOOOOO much bigger in her native US) released her #2 US hit Don't Rush Me in late 1988 when it peaked at #78 :-( When reactivated a few months later, it got stuck at #76. How unlucky is that! I always feel sorry the most for tracks which stall at #76 cos only the T75 are ever really considered 'hits'. Even if a track misses T40 but makes T75 it'll be recorded in singles books and become part of history, however small. #76 'hits' might as well never have existed! Poor Taylor... :-(
  17. Most women can get pregnant :D
  18. Personally, I bought it cos I liked the cover. And when I played it, I ended up liking the songs! What a hit!
  19. Well yeah, but she's already done that and proved herself! Anyway, having a baby's hardly a gimmick! :D
  20. To get it past 5m sales quicker - isn't that the idea? :cheer:
  21. Let's start a campaign for an Adele baby!!! :cheer:
  22. :D i can't be sure, but she might be. Dannii Minogue got pregnant too. If she did have a child, it'd put a whole new spin on the tracks, wouldn't it! Imagine listening to Someone Like You knowing that there was a child involved :o
  23. How do you know she isn't already?
  24. If she has a baby that'll push sales through the roof again. And if she were to die tomorrow, I reckon she'd pass 5m within weeks.

Just a thought, but if all these songs are unmemorable how do we remember them?? hehe.
