Thanks Vidcapper - I'd completely forgotten all about that Tiesto track!

YTD T40 Singles (with estimated sales)
Hi Vidcapper! Just out of curiosity, you say that 104 tracks have sold over 200k this year so far - what do you reckon is ranked YTD #105 and do you have a rough estimate of this track's sales? Ta in advance!

and five other non-top 5 hits still making the grade too! that wouldn't have happened in the 90s or the early noughties!

YTD T40 Singles (with estimated sales)
Oh yeah, forgot about Black and Yellow! I don't know why, but I've tended to find that - across the years - there are a surprisingly low number of phenomenally-selling number 5 hits! Strange, but when I look at the year-end top 75 singles every year I always seem to have to look way down for the number 5 tracks, or maybe I'm just imagining it!

YTD T40 Singles (with estimated sales)
What's this year's top-selling number 5? It doesn't appear to have sold enough to make the YTD top 40... Same goes for the top-selling number 7... Make You Feel My Love perhaps?

YTD T40 Singles (with estimated sales)
Hi Vidcapper - just wondering how many tracks have passed 200k this year, it must be about 90, right? Last year just over 100 tracks did it, but there looks set to be a lot more this year! Can you tell us which track is just about to pass 200k and which track has just edged past the mark? That'd be really interesting to know! And thanks again for all your hard work!

Unlucky not to make number 40, 75, 200?
Funny, I was just thinking about this sort of thing the other day as one of my favourite performers from the 1980s kind of falls into this category with a few of her tracks. Taylor Dayne had back to back top 10 hits in 1988 with Tell It To My Heart and Prove Your Love. Her next single, I'll Always Love You, spent 7 weeks in the Top 75, but got stuck at #75. The following single, Don't Rush Me, was even more unlucky: it hit #78 towards the end of 1988 and, when reactivated a few months later, charted at #76. How infuriating!!!!!!!!

First week X Factor single sales
From knowing just Ambitions, and the tracks on Classic, it's difficult to think of another artist who has changed their musical style so radically (although Everything But The Girl did a bit of a turnaround in the mid-90s) - and in such a short space of time, less than a year! Shame about the sales, though. I'm 30 now and hardly ever get time to listen to music - i tend to just have Viva or whatever on in the background. I'd really have appreciated those reduced prices 10 or 15 years ago when i bought anything and everything!

First week X Factor single sales
Ta for the tip-off! Could you ever have imagined 10 years ago that top 10 albums would be selling for less than £3 after less than a year on release! Crazy! :-)

First week X Factor single sales
I've never heard any of his other tracks from the Wide Awake era but, as it's probably going cheap now, I should probably pick up a copy of the album!

First week X Factor single sales
I actually really like Joe's track and still re-play his X Factor performance of it :-)

New owner, New publication date - a message to MW readers
I've been buying MW for 16 years now - primarily for sales info. Back in the mid 90s they gave away very little info, but they had loosened up a lot over the past few years. This now feels (to me, anyway) like they've talen a backward step. Not pleased. And it won't help Vidcapper when he comes to calculating YTD lists and so on!

Kerrang's Top 100 Biggest Selling Rock Hits of the Century
I'd love to see it too!

Stars that have turned their careers around.
Texas come to mind! They were really struggling by the mid-90s after their breakthrough in 1989, but they came back bigger than ever with White On Blonde in 1997...

Didn't Usher spend something like 4 weeks at number 20 last year with DJ Got Us Fallin In Love?

Unofficial Top 50 singles of the decade so far
Ta for that MrJules! And ta for the great chart! You do realise that after a while, us chartwatchers will be campaigning for a top 75/100, haha!

Unofficial Top 50 singles of the decade so far
Just checked - it shifted ~361,000 last year plus whatever it sold this year - not enough to trouble this chart, though. Shame, it only reached no 7 and I love seeing random low-peakers in amongst the biggies!

Unofficial Top 50 singles of the decade so far
Lady Gaga's Alejandro must be tantalisingly close to the bottom of this list - would anyone know how close?

ChartsPlus gets even better!
Aww, poor you - you don't know what you missed! Hey, maybe my issue will become a collector's item and in 20 years I'll be able to sell it and make millions! :-)

Ta for the info there MFR - I actually didn't realise downloads counted towards BPI certifications!

ChartsPlus gets even better!
I posted this earlier in the year, but no-one seemed to know anything about it. In the first week of this year (I think, or maybe second) all singles in the top 75 were shown with their correct sales awards in that particular issue of Music Week, but the following week they were all stripped off again (except the titles which already had awards prior to this). I take it no-one knows what was going on there? It was kinda nice to see the chart littered with silver, gold and platinum award symbols - just like them old days...

ChartsPlus gets even better!
In addition to my last reply just now, I mean for singles - if downloads account for about 98 per cent of sales, how can the likes of Rihanna's singles be 'shipping' enough copies for her to grab silver, gold and platinum awards for recent singles (forwhich she has done)?
