The Cassette turns 50
Wow, that's amazing!! I'd love you to continue, I for one, would find it fascinating.

The Cassette turns 50
So, we've ascertained that Busted have the distinction of having the last UK number one on cassette (Thanks DanChartFan!!) So at the moment, it looks like the final mainstream cassette released before Feeder was 'Jump' by Girls Aloud, unless we find a later release.

Well I've compiled a list of singles that were released on cassette in 2003 (not complete) and you can definitely see that as the year goes on, less and less releases are made on cassette, I've yet to find a single that was released in 2004 on tape, but I'm happy to be proven wrong. As for worth......most are only worth what someone is willing to pay. The vast majority aren't worth much, but there are some gems (it should be known that my interest is from late 90's to 2003, so earlier one's could be worth something). Quite a few 2003 releases are hard to find, purely because few were made, and even fewer sold. I sold a copy of 'Bring Me To Life' by Evanescence for just shy of £100 last year. Evanescence have a lot of worldwide fans, and their debut was the only single to get a cassette release, and only in the UK at that (I think the UK must have been one of the last markets to sell cassette single). Britney's 'Me Against The Music' is also a rarity and can go for good money. Most people disregard the cassette, so I've made my own pointless mission to put as many as I can on Discogs!

Ooh that's very interesting. I always though Elton was the final UK number one to be released on cassette, but then I discovered on some very old fansites that Busted's 'Crashed The Wedding' was supposedly released on cassette, though have found no proof/info to back that up. If true, I thought it would make that single the final number one to be released on cassette, but if the OCC did quietly change the rules, then maybe it wouldn't have counted anyway.

The Mr. Vain Recall version, released in Sept 2003? If so, I don't think it was as lots of artists released cassette singles after that, Britney, Amy Studt, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Blazin' Squad, Justin Timberlake to name a few. So far, the latest one I have is Girls Aloud's Jump, which was released in late Nov 2003. However, apparently S Club 8's Don't Tell Me You're Sorry was released on tape, though I've ever seen one, and that was released in December.

Now 63 was the last to be released on cassette in 2006!! Some Indonesian countries still released cassette albums until 2008, I have copies of the first 3 Girls Aloud albums, plus Britney's Blackout & Circus on cassette, all official releases. What I loved/hated about cassette singles was that you sometimes got a B-Side/Remix that was exclusive to the format. I've recently been going through all my tapes from 2000-2003 and uploading said tracks on Youtube for all to enjoy (so if you have any request....) I'd love to know what the last mainstream (and not for retro/hipster reasons) release was, I don't think any singles were released on tape in 2004, so it has to be a Dec 2003 release.

Slightly late to the party... Does anyone know what the last mainstream single to be released on cassette was? I've narrowed it down to Girls Alouds Jump, S Club 8's Don't Tell Me You're Sorry, and Busted's Crashed The Wedding. Can anyone contribute?

Criminal / 4th Single
Not that anyone out there cares much anymore, but a Criminal remixes EP will be released in the UK on the 11th December.

Criminal / 4th Single
is this actually getting a release in the UK?
-
Britney will be on Alan Carr Chatty Man UK
Plus, it'd be far too late, she's released an album, four singles and done most of her UK leg of the tour. I really hope, if he does another album, that she stops the touring and concentrates more on worldwide promotion.

What Happened To Britney?
Tyler, what's made you suddenly say this? Just out of interest.

Criminal / 4th Single
Half the people they interviewed probably held a gun somewhere on there body.

Europe Promo / TV & Radio Promo
Well, I don't think interviews were gonna do much anyway. It's lovely that she's over here, but without a performance, the music isn't really gonna be effected. It's also a bit too little, too late.

Una IS Pregnant
and don't forget......a year after Natasha rejoined Atomic Kitten, they announced a split, so Natasha could spend more time with her sprog.

Britney on VMA 2011
My God, if any other artists do perform, and they perform live, Britney better do the same....
