'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
An insider said they're on their second contract, so they probably have two more albums left. To sign a new band for five albums seems too much, as three album deals are the general norm. Plus, you don't let your act to record as many songs as they've done this year just to rush-out a release and certainly you don't let them work with as expensive producers as Xenomania. In those cases labels just put out a singles collection (in the case of Sugababes, Island released a b-sides compilation). Besides, that doesn't fit with them creating their own company and applying for the rights of the name. We can just accept that they are not making a lot of money, but I doubt they are in much debt with their record sales, touring and endorsements, which will probably be multiplied if they go to the US. Their look, even though it could be more polished, fits perfectly with the general look of E!'s shows. Really? I don't remember it going higher than top20.

That's similar to The Xtra Factor right?

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Yeah, the main objective here is to reinforce their relation with the fans. A thousand people tweeting and talking about it to other friends can create some buzz. Plus, they may scratch some aditional sales of their previous albums. By the way, the single is up to #57 (from #74) on airplay rotation's update.

Sugababes ● General Discussion
Siobhan has been at London Records this morning: https://twitter.com/#!/siobhandonaghy/s...7162368/photo/1 It makes perfect sense, as it is currently managed by Polydor/Universal, and they are supossed to have signed with them. The rights to One Touch and Revolution in Me belong to Warner though.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Up to #74 (from #103) on the weekly airplay chart. http://www.ukairplaychart.com/uk/ Slowly, but it's coming.

And we know those have no effect on the charts...

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
But that's rotation if I'm not wrong...tomorrow or on Monday we'll know the definitive position (that will be around that number anyway) I think you're right. They will be around two months recording the show overseas so it would've been too much time since their last single release in the UK...MHTO in November. Besides is a god way to tying all this media attention up and translate it into business. It's the perfect 'excuse' to have interviews and talk about all the press stories. That said, I hope it gets them another top10 at least.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Yeah, airplay is looking a bit better. Which isn't much, but summing up the video airplay, the big media attention they have these days and the promotion they've got lined up...this could be a solid top10, and if the chart performance is going to affect wether they get the US deal or not, I think that will be enough. No. They've always premiered the single six weeks in advance of the release date. Two weeks are spent on sending the song to radios and letting them now they've got the single out, and the next month is to let the airplay grow. Songs don't enter radio playlists right away, so if they premiered the song one month in advance, they wouldn't have much time to climb on Radio 1's playlist. It's achievable, but they can't risk their position if some bigger artist release his song at the same time as them or brings forward the release date like what happened with Fun.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Yeah I think that too...some way to compensate the UK for going away the next months...but then why not releasing an album track of On Your Radar, that way they could've stayed current and grabbed some album sales...unless they thought a brand new song would help them getting a higher peak.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
The New York Post and the public Irish television said yesterday they are finalising the deal this week and that they'll move to the US in some weeks to start the recording. Pretty much after the release of 30 Days.

The Saturdays in America
Well, you can say that for any new show/artist anyway. Viewers on that channel watch shows based around how any second-class celebrity goes shopping for 55th time in the season; the 'unknown' status of TheSats is hardly a disadvantage here. Plus, they will be pretty much the only show featuring an active music act, because I doubt the Ice-T & girl's program shows much of Ice's work as a rapper and the only other show I've found goes around the life of rockstars'...wives http://uk.eonline.com/on/shows/married_to_rock/index.html That can be their selling point: the life of a popstar/popsinger. A show heavily focused on the professional side of their lives but also revealing their efforts to make a balance with their personal life. It's actually been marketed that way since the very first rumour came out. The sentence most repeated since then has been 'the show will follow the girls trying to crack the States after landing a US record deal'. And they won't be seen as a 'random' group as there hasn't been a global girlband on the vibe of Spice Girls since...well, the Spice Girls. Pussycat Dolls had a completely different system. There is not one girlband out there at the moment, so the mere fact of being one will make them different.

The Saturdays in America
The New York Post and RTE are reporting that they'll start the recording in a matter of weeks: http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/girl_group...nv58mrPUNtJoDuJ http://www.rte.ie/ten/2012/0424/saturdays.html I can see the Daily Mail making a piece of news based on unfounded rumours, but the NY Post doesn't need to make up something about The Saturdays...so this might be going ahead after all.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Oh c'mon I said that because it seemed they were thinking they could make us wait while they decided what to have for dinner...and yeah, it's only an ustream session, but the previous ones seemed quite a bigger deal, specially the one with the Headlines background. Then it seemed like they actually met to have the session, to talk with fans, give new information and to sing some things accoustically...today it was like we caught them in the middle of a normal day and they didn't have time for us. They gave some type of answers that we could find in any magazine (what's your favourite perfume?) and that's all. I'm just saying it didn't felt any special or worthy to pay any attention, not that they don't care about fans.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Ha! yeah I know, I'm just saying that's how I felt.
-
'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
It has not been the first time... The session was a mess, bad planned and I personally felt like they didn't think fans were important.

'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
Well, at least it's been quite longer than any past session and they've behaved quite funny and natural (specially Vanessa). They're off again...and it's been a while now?
-
'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
What the...they're spending more time ordering their dinner than chatting with fans.
-
'30 Days' (1st Single Discussion Thread) (Part 1)
You have conviced me to stay to the session instead of watching a new episode of Mad Men. ..and of course, they're late.

What Saturdays Song Are You Listening To?
I've been revisiting the Wordshaker+Headlines! era for the past few days...mostly Karma and Missing You. They really should've tried to consolidate their position with a new single after Higher. Either One Shot or Lose Control, and release themselves with Higher and Headlines! internationally. But they decided to wait and now we are back in this endless 'make it or break it' situation...
