Yes, their goal was to beat us in the charts but when it became clear that wouldn't happen they changed tactics to ensure we wouldn't reach No1. Funnily enough I realised after coming here that was unlikely so was hoping just to get as high as possible, ssssh don't tell the Celtic fans though and let them spend their money :) I don't want to get into a big them and us debate on a music forum but I will repeat what I've already posted on here. The Rangers campaign was set up to raise the profile of Erskine Hospital for ex-servicemen & women, when it became clear Rangers could win the league this week the people behind the campaign exploited this to get the Rangers fans to download "The Best". The song is the unofficial anthem of Rangers and was adopted by Erskine Hospital for their recent fundraising appeal. The Celtic fans was purely in response to this and was designed to stop us from achieving No1, although they inadvertently gave the Rangers fans campaign more publicity! It's was for a good cause!

FYI Celtic fans were originally downloading YNWA to stop us (Rangers fans) from getting "The Best" to No1, when they realised that wasn't working they all switched to downloading Usher as he was ahead of us.

No it's not and no your not :) The song is in no way sectarian, at one point there was a problem with some fans singing an add on but are seriously trying to suggest "The Best" has sectarian lyrics. To repeat what I have already said, the song is about raising the profile & supporting Erskine Hospital and not solely for Rangers fans trying to reach No1!

We're confident of seeing off YNWA, "The Best" is at No 1 on Play.com & HMV as well as No2 on Amazon. I believe these all count in the chart sales & YNWA is not charting on any of these. Sadly we seem to have 2 & 3 entries of "The Best" in some charts so we could be doing better. We also discovered that some Celtic fans were posting links to Piratebay & similar sites, I would assume these don't count? :)

To clarify something, it wasn't originally a facebook campaign but it was a way to spread the word more. The campaign was originally to help highlight and support the work done at Erskine Hospital for ex-servicemen & women, a charity that has been well supported by Rangers and it's fans over the years, with Rangers having an opportunity to win the league this week it was an opportunity not to be missed and a big push was made with "The Best" being the unofficial anthem of the club. If you look at several of the armed forces websites they're all backing the campaign as well which is why it's doing as well. The YNWA campaign is purely to stop "The Best" from topping the charts, however from what you guys are saying both are unlikely to top the charts especially with "The Best" being a download only. I joined this forum as I was looking for somewhere that could explain better how the charts worked, it's been very helpful and I'm quite fascinated by it all now :)

It's for a couple of reasons, a facebook campaign was launched by Glasgow Rangers fans who were fundraising for Erskine Hospital for ex-servicemen & women. The song is the unofficial anthem of the club and fans were asked to download the single and also to donate to Erskine, the song was adopted as a tribute to the people at Erskine Hospital. This weekend Rangers have an opportunity win the league and the fans are pushing for the song to be No1 this weekend, it's fun for the fans but also helps publicise & support a very worthwhile cause!
