What an absolute dog's dinner and massive embarrassment for Israel hosting. But really, a representative vote from their Pot is neither here nor there. Belarus' jury should have been fully disqualified, with no jury vote from them and only televotes alone. In the past, jury votes have been used when televoting failed - so why can't the opposite be applied in this case? Really poor :nono: As for other jurors ranking incorrectly - they all get a clear brief, if they screw it up and their score has been accepted then that's just the way it is. The same thing happens in all competitions, you can't retrospectively 'change' your marks, who's to say said juror hasn't just seen the result and cried mistake?

Re Belarus jury vote It just says 'aggregate' - maybe something to do with Belarus' historical voting? Perhaps doesn't explain it as their result doesn't reflect historical voting, but just an idea. How else might they have got to their result?

Agree. The selection process this year was low-production, with cringeworthy canned jokes from Mel and the whole thing was awkward. The 'voting' element from the judges was poor, with them acting like they had some sort of free choice when choosing. They've already been briefed who to send through to the final three. The songs on offer were also poor. That was really the best 3 of all the entries sent in? The whole thing needs scrapping and completely restarting.

I enjoyed it. However, I did think the presenting was poor throughout. A lot of talking over one another. Comments that didn't really make sense. Lots of correcting going on. "Moving on" said about a million times. It just wasn't as slick as it should be. Ad libbing has a really fine line between sounding good or just being naff. Also they kept miscounting how many countries were left during the televote reveal. Screen graphics were too slow on several occasions too. And that blonde presenter was incredibly wooden and uncharismatic. Have a feeling the Netherlands will do a much better job. Cannot believe San Marino polled 10th for the public vote :o I still like the new televote reveal, but as expected it did lose some of the excitement of knowing the ranking on the night. And the UK what can we say? We all knew it would do poorly. We had really poor options to choose between on the cringeworthy selection show. It's just not good enough; I don't think the beeb wants to host it.

Wish I'd waited before submitting mine. Especially after the poor SF performance from Ireland, taking minimal to a whole new level :blink: L'Albanie would also have been much higher :wub:

Hi all, BJ old skooler here. Has this been announced officially? I really like the change, it definitely seems the best way to present the result. It does take a little excitement out in that it's not as immediately obvious who has the highest televote and where everyone ranks in the televote. But there is excitement working up the jury board and finding out what everyone's got in the televote. I think the headache for the producers with the previous voting was that for in Ukraine, Bulgaria received the second highest televote but it wasn't clear to Portugal that they had won (even though they had both the highest jury and televotes). Also, hypothetically, there could even be a case where televote winner doesn't receive enough points to overtake a jury winner, but may assume they've won overall. For example, last year had Austria had a much greater final score, Israel might have assumed they'd won, but a tight leaderboard may have meant they didn't. The new voting covers this off. Bring on 2019 :yahoo: :cheer:
