  2. I saw it on Thursday and agree with everything you said above! There were lots of moments that made me laugh out loud and I completely welled up on about 4 occasions. The only 'meh' moments for me were the end credits scenes to be honest. Here's hoping that this will help the MCU get back on track after the last few films, but the Marvels trailer isn't filling me with much confidence...

Completely agree. Even worse at the moment is the fact that my local cinema have numerous showings of Titanic, a film that surely everyone has now seen a million times, but is not showing Women Talking or Marcel the Shell with Shoes On at all.
  4. I so wanted to like this but agree with everything above. I thought Jonathan Majors was fine but it irritated me that . My main issue with the Ant-Man films is that I just don't really care for any of the main characters so it's really hard for me to root for them. . Finally, whoever was responsible for Hope's hair in this film needs to be fired quite frankly.

  6. Right, silly question time: how scary is this? I don't enjoy horror films AT ALL but the trailer is quite compelling... Now that you've seen it, what do you think?
  7. I'm actually really excited for this and I hope it doesn't disappoint; the last two Ant-Man films are right near the bottom of my MCU rankings so fingers crossed this will be better. I've also booked for opening night :D
  8. I'm really enjoying this so much more than I thought I was going to! I've completed all the gym challenges and the titans storyline, so just have the fighting crew left to do before attempting the Elite 4. Current team is: Meowscarada Donphan Dragonite Talonflame Tinkaton Hawlucha Currently working my way through raid dens to help get some last minute experience.
  9. I really enjoyed this but did anyone else find it visually quite dark? I'm not sure if it was just my screen (my local cinema is really old!) but I found some scenes really hard to see, particularly at the beginning of the film. Going again on Tuesday and have booked to go to an IMAX so fingers crossed that will be better.
  10. Totodile, Piplup and Oshawott for me. So glad Bulbasaur is back :D

  13. aWzlQ2N6qqg To say that I'm excited for this would be an understatement. Been onto YouTube to watch trailer breakdowns and feel that I already know too much - need to try and avoid spoilers for the next few months!
  14. Looking forward to your list, Josh! Think we have very similar tastes in films so will be curious to see whether we have the same films at the top of the list. :D

Enjoying being back in the cinema again. Very lucky that my local cinema has reclining seats, which are larger and therefore offer more space between each one (which is great when the screening is completely booked up like it was for Bond...). 29th May - Cruella (7/10) 8th July - Black Widow (6/10) 4th August - The Suicide Squad (7/10) 11th August - Jungle Cruise (8/10) 11th August - Free Guy (9/10) 3rd September - Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (9/10) 15th September - Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (9/10) 16th October - No Time to Die (7/10) 21st October - Venom: Let There Be Carnage (7/10) 30th October - Dear Evan Hansen (8/10) 6th November - Eternals (7/10) 4th December - Eternals (7/10) 16th December - Spider-Man: No Way Home (10/10) 23rd December - House of Gucci (7/10) 29th December - Spider-Man: No Way Home (10/10)

I've finally watched all 8 Best Picture nominations! Here's my order of preference: 1. Promising Young Woman 2. The Trial of the Chicago 7 3. Judas and the Black Messiah 4. Sound of Metal 5. The Father 6. Minari 7. Nomadland 8. Mank Here are my predictions for what I actually think will happen though: Best Picture - Nomadland Best Actor - Chadwick Boseman (I actually think Anthony Hopkins did a better performance, but I feel that the Oscars should honour Boseman posthumously). Best Actress - Frances McDormand (I really want Carey Mulligan to win it but Frances seems to be cleaning up at the moment) Best Director - Chloe Zhao - Nomadland Best Supporting Actor - Paul Raci - Sound of Metal Best Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-Jung - Minari Best Original Screenplay - Promising Young Woman Best Adapted Screenplay - Nomadland Best Original Score - Soul Best Original Song - Speak Now - One Night in Miami Best Visual Effects - Tenet Best Cinematography - Nomadland Best Production Design - Mank Best Costume Design - Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Best Hair and Make Up - Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Best Animated Feature - Soul Best Sound Editing - Sound of Metal Best Film Editing - Nomadland

Normally I start up a topic where people can keep their lists of the films they've seen in the cinema over the course of the year...but for obvious reasons I didn't bother this year. :( So, here's a place to keep track of any films you've watched this year. I'm on a mission to watch all of the Best Picture nominations but it's going to take a while as our release dates are so much later than the US. Anyway, here's my list - feel free to add yours below! 10th January - Pieces of a Woman 15th January - Ma Rainey's Black Bottom 16th January - Wonder Woman 1984 13th February - Barb and Star Go To Vista del Mar 15th February - Malcolm and Marie 20th February - I Care A Lot 6th March - Raya and the Last Dragon 21st March - Greenland 27th March - Zach Snyder's Justice League 2nd April - The Mauritanian 3rd April - The Trial of the Chicago 7 4th April - Judas and the Black Messiah 6th April - Mank 8th April - Minari 12th April - Nomadland 15th April - Sound of Metal 17th April - Promising Young Woman 18th April - The Father 29th May - Cruella 18th June - Luca 8th July - Black Widow 4th August - The Suicide Squad 11th August - Jungle Cruise 11th August - Free Guy 3rd September - Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 16th October - No Time to Die 21st October - Venom: Let There Be Carnage 30th October - Dear Evan Hansen 6th November - Eternals 16th December - Spider-Man: No Way Home 17th December - Ron's Gone Wrong 23rd December - House of Gucci
  19. I really want to see this but didn't know it was out yet. Where did you watch it, Jonjo?
  20. Ah can't believe I missed the results! Thanks for sorting this Jonjo - some really great pieces of music there that I'd not heard before. And I should have guessed that you were the reason I couldn't use Portals
  21. I've sent one, though it might be a bit obvious and might have already been chosen. I'll think of a back up just in case!
  22. I saw this yesterday and quite enjoyed it. It certainly didn't feel like a chore to watch, though I think it helped that I knew the backgrounds of all the characters before going in. My friend, who isn't a comic book fan and had never heard of the characters before, said that she didn't care about any of them and didn't really understand any of their powers other than Sam and Rahne. Though I did like it, I actually feel this would have been better as a series on Disney+.
  23. So I had no idea what was going on for the first hour (don't think I remembered anybody's names and I definitely didn't know who anybody was in terms of their relevance to the story) but ended up quite enjoying it by the end! Some good action sequences and I *think* I understood the plot... My main gripe was the fact that the sound editing wasn't great and I often couldn't work out what people were saying - particularly Kenneth Branagh who barely moved his mouth throughout the entire film!
