Coronavirus • Affected Movies
Artemis Fowl is apparently going straight to Disney+. Totally the right call there, because I think this was going to completely bomb at the box office based on the last trailer I saw for it. I can see New Mutants going the same way tbh. Marvel films are also being shifted back as follows: Black Widow - November 6th 2020 The Eternals - February 12th 2021 Shang-Chi - May 7th 2021 Dr Strange 2 - November 5th 2021 Thor 4 - February 18th 2022 Mulan is now coming out on July 24th 2020, which has pushed Jungle Cruise back a year until July 31st 2021.

Disney+
I paid for mine a few weeks back. Didn't know then how much use I'd be getting out of it! So far I've watched Return to Oz, Parent Trap, Moana and Saving Mr Banks. TV wise, I've watched a couple of episodes of X-Men the animated series, a couple of episodes of the Clone Wars and 3 episodes of the Mandalorian. I've also enjoyed the Imagineering story, which tells you all about the theme parks and their history. I watched one episode of Encore and one episode of Disney Weddings...not sure I'll be going back to those! So, as you can see, I'm definitely getting my money's worth!

Onward
Saw this today and enjoyed it. Not sure I agree with the statement that it’s the best Pixar film in years (I think I preferred Coco) but the emotional punch is still there. There is a short before the film...but it’s not a Pixar one. I enjoyed it very much, though! :D

This was SO good! So glad I listened to your reviews guys!!

Parasite ●
Great - thanks you guys! I'll book it up and let you know what I think!

Parasite ●
Ok so I really hate horror films, but this has got me intrigued. People who've seen it, do you think someone who gets scared easily would enjoy it? Just to give you an idea, I saw about 2 mins of A Quiet Place on Gogglebox and hid behind a cushion for most of it...

X Men: The New Mutants
New trailer released today: q2QXoFZekNE Have to say that, despite them not doing any reshoots, I'm actually a lot more excited about this than I was originally! I'm a huge X-Men fan, so after Dark Phoenix, I'm praying that they won't mess this up. For non-comic book fans, there are a fair few unknown characters here so it'll be interesting to see whether people decide to go and see this at the cinema. The main character, Danielle, has the mutant ability to manifest people's greatest fears in front of them, so it does have the potential to be very dark.

COMPLETE: Jonjo's Top Films of 2019
As a non-WWE fan, I completely agree with your statement! Wasn't planning on seeing this at all, but rented it while I was off sick from work and absolutely loved it. Became one of my favourite films of the year. I really didn't like this one though  The fact that Elton John was so heavily involved in making it led me to think they were trying to portray him in a positive light, but I just didn't find him likeable in the slightest. Plus I don't really like his songs...not sure why I went to see it at all actually... I was really disappointed with this. Unlike Aladdin, this was literally a shot by shot remake of the original and just felt like a massive cash-grab from Disney. You're right about Eichner and Rogen - up until their appearance, I was genuinely bored - but in contrast, I absolutely loathed Beyonce and John Oliver. Oliver especially grated on me and I wish they'd just got Rowan Atkinson back instead. I know what you mean - whilst it was brilliantly acted, it was a hard watch and I doubt I'd sit through it again. That said, I hope Scar Jo wins a Golden Globe for it tonight! The more I reflect on this, the more I think I enjoyed it. I might have to go and see it again! Feel a bit sorry for JJ as he had to try and please everyone after the divisive Last Jedi and, on the whole, I think he did a good job. The Emperor is my favourite character so that probably helped me enjoy it more. Finn was just such a waste of a character and they clearly had no idea what to do with him - don't know why they kept adding more female characters for him to interact with, especially when their storylines weren't going anywhere. Hated the cartoon, but actually quite enjoyed this! Might need to watch it again at some point :D

COMPLETE: Jonjo's Top Films of 2019
Completely agree with your review here. I actually watched this while I was in Hollywood this summer but I was massively disappointed by it. The last 30 minutes or so probably saved it from being one of my worst films this year, but I found most of it actually quite dull. Leo and Brad were amazing though. I enjoyed this one a lot but think you're right about the hype. I think a lot of people were talking about it when it was released, but the hype has died down now - it'll be interesting to see if it walks away with any awards in the end... Liked this a lot more than I thought I would! The scene in the office was so unexpected! The whole film just gave me such an 80s vibe and made me feel like I was watching a film from my childhood. So glad it's getting a sequel. This was a lovely film and a really easy watch. I'm not a Beatles fan either but I actually enjoyed the soundtrack. Actually, the only gripe I had with this film was the ending - such a let down :( When I got my new class in September, one of my pupils told me she was in the new Maleficent film. I was so excited and couldn't wait to see it. By the time the film was released, I decided I didn't really like the girl all that much...so I didn't go and see the film. Having read your review, I don't feel I missed much

COMPLETE: Jonjo's Top Films of 2019
Only saw one of these: If Beale Street Could Talk. I went because of its Oscar buzz but thought it was one of the most boring films I've ever seen. Kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. I really enjoyed Can You Ever Forgive Me? and it was nice to see Melissa McCarthy in a completely different role. As a comic fan, X-Men was a huge let down - this was their chance to correct the mistakes from The Last Stand and they ended up making exactly the same mistakes!! For me, I'd have swapped Little and Last Christmas - Little at least made me laugh. Last Christmas was one of my worst films this year! Just found the plot really weak, the characters not particularly likable and the acting appalling. Thank God for Emma Thompson! You definitely need to watch Green Book again - so good! I've also rewatched Vice recently and enjoyed it even more the second time around. Totally agree with you about Boy Erased - I don't actually remember much about it, other than the feeling of disappointment when I left the cinema

No surprises in that list so far. I'm just glad I didn't waste my money on seeing Cats! PS Thanks for sticking Pennywise at the top of the page - really helped my clown phobia

Top *whatever* Films of 2019 + Decade Lists
Did you not like Endgame??? I went to see it 4 times in the cinema! On The Basis of Sex was surprisingly good actually - I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Here's the thing with Rocketman... I absolutely loved Bohemian Rhapsody and I was hoping Rocketman would be similar, but I just found it nonsensical. With musical films, I hate it when songs are shoe-horned in and that's exactly what it felt like to me. I assume your list will be coming soon?

Least Fave Marvel Cinematic Universe movie: Round 2
I’ve opted for both Ant-Man films. Love the character, love Paul Rudd...just can’t stand the films.

Last Christmas
Maybe I'm a massive humbug but I thought this was one of the worst films I've seen in a while. I thought the script was weak, the acting poor and the ending predictable. Thank God for Emma Thompson who was the only person to get any laughs in the screening I was in...

Pokemon Sword & Shield
Just defeated the second gym and am loving it so far, though completely agree with the comments about the hand-holding. Never spammed the A button as much in my life! Current team: Thwackey - Level 24 Butterfree - Level 23 Thievul - Level 23 Quagsire - Level 24 Carkol - Level 24 Woobat - Level 23 Was planning on choosing Sobble but then looked at the Pokedex and realised that there wasn't a single other grass type that I particularly wanted on my team, so settled for Grookey in the end.

Pokemon Sword & Shield
I'm still waiting for mine to download. I seriously don't know what I was thinking - why didn't I just order a physical copy? My internet sucks: downloading an episode of Gogglebox is a challenge, let alone a whole game! I've still got 12 hours left apparently. <_<

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Final trailer has been released: 8Qn_spdM5Zg I was so excited after seeing the D23 trailer but I can't help but think this is going to be as much of an incoherent mess as the rest of the trilogy has been :(
