The Lion King
Just got back from seeing this. Up until Timon and Pumbaa appeared, I really wasn't enjoying it at all. For me, Scar and Zazu were majorly miscast; I missed the 'campness' of Scar ('Ooh I shall practise my curtsey') and none of Zazu's jokes hit home with me at all - wish they'd got Rowan Atkinson back. I also absolutely detested what they'd done to Be Prepared, which is just such an iconic Disney villain song. In fact, the only thing I really liked about the first part of the film was the Circle of Life introduction, due to the fact that it was a shot by shot remake of the original opening. I thought Timon and Pumbaa were excellent and definitely brought the comedy. I actually loved the remake of Hakuna Matata, especially when they get fed up with Simba's riffing  At the moment, I think I preferred Aladdin but I might have to watch this again to see if it grows on me with future viewings. I totally agree with T Boy though: the lack of facial expressions meant that a lot of the dramatic scenes landed a bit flat, which was a shame.

COMPLETE: Jonjo's Fave Movies of 2018 Countdown
My predictions: Infinity War Love, Simon A Quiet Place Coco Crazy Rich Asians Crazy Rich Asians wouldn't have been near my top 20, let alone my top 5

Marvel: Phase 4+
I've been reading this page to find out more about the 10 Rings in the Shang-Chi film. Very worried that they sound a bit too similar to Infinity Stones

Marvel: Phase 4+
I think I'd swap Guardians 3 and Black Panther 2 around but agree with Fantastic 4. I just can't wait for the X-Men to appear in the MCU.

Avengers: Endgame
I can't see Avatar 2 toppling Endgame somehow. The first film was released a decade ago and I'm pretty sure it was only as big as it was due to the fact that it was one of the first films in 3D, which made a lot of people want to see it. I personally don't think I've seen Avatar more than twice and genuinely can't remember the plot at all...

Marvel: Phase 4+
Very excited for all of this. Black Widow - not sure when this is set. One friend told me that this was an origin story and another said it was set after Civil War. Really hope it's the latter - can't cope with another origin story! Shang-Chi - we're finally going to see the Mandarin in all his glory, rather than the awful version in Iron Man 3. Apparently, there have been clues to the 10 rings throughout the MCU so far, so I'll be interested to see how they link it all together. Dr Strange 2 - so thrilled that Wanda is in this and I'm pretty sure that WandaVision will lead directly into it. It's also meant to be a horror film. Thor 4 - should be good but I'm not keen on the title. I hope they change it before it's released. Apparently, Natalie Portman will be playing Lady Thor. I'm off to the D23 expo in LA this summer and I'm hoping we get some more news and trailers from Marvel then.

Beautiful Trauma European Tour 2019
Totally agree with you about the crowd - barely anyone around me was standing up! I put it down to the fact that it was SO hot and that some people had been there for hours. That said, she was AMAZING and completely agree with the review above. Loved that she ended with Glitter in the Air too. My only criticism was the inclusion of the song River, which no one around me seemed to know (me included!). I think if you're going to do a cover, it needs to be one that everyone can sing along to (like her Time After Time cover). A solid 9.5/10 from me!

Spider-Man: Far From Home
This looks good but I’m wondering how much of the trailer is real and how much is an illusion created by Mysterio.

Avengers: Endgame
I’ve just got back from seeing it for the third time and I have a question that has bothered me each time: When Tony is speaking to his dad in the lift, he seems confused about his mum being pregnant and questions his Dad about how far along she is. Can anyone explain to me what this is about? After all, it is Tony who chooses that particular date (7th April 1970) to go back to, so not really sure of the significance of it all... If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know!

Avengers: Endgame
I'm going for the third time on Monday  I totally agree with you about the change of pace compared with Infinity War, but I found the second viewing much more emotional than the first one (probably because I knew what was coming). Really, I need Captain Marvel and Endgame out on DVD now so I can watch all 22 films back to back without leaving the house...

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
I've been a Star Wars fan for a long time, but I just can't feel excited about this at all. Force Awakens just felt like a rehash of A New Hope, and Last Jedi was just such a mess. Palpatine is my most favourite villain of all time, so he's the only thing that's peaking my interest at the moment...

Captain Marvel
Saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Thought all of the cast were very good, though felt that the script suffered in places. As a 90s kid, I have to say that the soundtrack was awesome  Loved the end credits scene (the first one in particular) - it's got me even more hyped for Endgame now.

On The Basis of Sex
Just got back from seeing this and absolutely loved it. Shame this wasn't released sooner as I think it might have been up for a few awards; Felicity Jones is brilliant throughout. Anyone else planning on seeing it?
