  1. Hahah eek! I guess I am becoming a big fan of SJ but hopefully I can be another one of the ones you befriend and not the sort of ELF who is totally delusional and nasty to everyone else! You're gonna have to call me out on it if I do. -_- BAP got the rookie award today. From what I've seen (which isn't much) I like both Exo & B.A.P so I'm happy with that. Could it be that they just invite the artists who are going to win an award? I mean the closing date for voting by either the public or judges will surely be quite a bit before the ceremony itself, therefore they have time to get a 'relevant' guest list/performers. I'm not saying it is that, I obviously don't know, I'm just putting another option forwards than it being something going on. And agree with all the talk about 'Step' it's one of my fave k-pop songs, I love the video for it too!
  2. I think we are going to have to agree to disagree as I think we both have different perspectives on what warrants a 'flop' and whether or not Super Junior are indeed flopping as well as whether singles or albums are more important. I don't think we're going to convince each other of each others opinions, so this is probably going to be a never ending circle and it could put other people off posting in here and I don't want to do that. Regardless of if Super Junior are flopping or not, as long as they're doing well enough to keep appearing on shows, touring and of course making new music that I can enjoy, then I will be happy. :D It's only half way through, maybe tomorrows awards will make you a bit happier?
  3. Golden Disk awards tonight isn't it? I'm going to try and watch it online if I can find a good link, I'm excited for all the performances though, award shows seem so much more exciting in the k pop world than UK music. Everytime I mention Super Junior on a forum people always tell me how awful ELFs are, I've yet to experience that myself though. For sure they'll be some like with all fanbases, but the ones I've talked too just seem lovely and very relaxed about stuff. It does sadden me the amount of fan wars though in k-pop... well I guess in music in general but with k pop there's so many artists and people tend to be extremely loyal to their faves and become very nasty towards rival artists. If SuJu had huge album sales like you say I wouldn't call them a flop, the single side of things does seem disappointing but it's not shocking bad to me, both were still top 10 and neither were their best songs. K pop might be different to the rest to UK/Europe/US music but I still wouldn't say people can't come back from 'flops', it's not a rule, it's just the way things tend to go. Someone will break that mold eventually. I can't believe that around 30 groups debut a year... how do you all keep up? All that plus the ones that are still here! Yikes ha! It's gotta be exciting though, we're lucky if we get a new group once a year that tried to break through. :( [EDIT] GDA Awards Results Rookie Award - EXO-K and Juniel Best Dance Performance Award - Trouble Maker Best Group Performance Award - INFINITE Next Generation Star Award - BTOB MSN Southeast Asia Award - Super Junior Malaysia's Most Favorite Star Award - CNBLUE and KARA JTBC Best Artist Award - B2ST Most Popular Star Award - SHINee Producer of the Year Award - FNC Entertainment Disk Bonsang B1A4 INFINITE FT Island 4Minute CNBLUE B2ST KARA SHINee Super Junior Disk Daesang - Super Junior's "Sexy, Free & Single Looking forwards to seeing the performances. 4. I love a novelty record from time to time, but I don't get this either, it's not funny and it's not catchy to my ears. I hope the UK doesn't take to this.
  5. Not many people like "The Boys"? Wow... that's actually shocking to me as it's their only song I instantly connected with and can remember now, it's so catchy. Yeah I heard about the "only 13" thing from some Super Junior fans but I don't fully understand it. Kyuhyun isn't an original member either so that fear and backlash should have started when he got added, but as far as I'm aware he's always been popular. I would understand if Henry and/or Zhou Mi replaced a member like Jade replacing Keisha in The Sugababes, that's harder to accept, but when they are simply additions to a group then I don't see the problem really. Apparently they get screamed at to get off the stage and stuff like that and I just find that really pathetic when they haven't actually done anything wrong. I especially feel sorry for Henry being so far away from home and not getting the nicest treatment. Urgh well... I guess the fans got what they wanted really as the two will probably never get added to the main group, it's a massive shame. Flops, Really? I thought the album went to number one for three weeks and then the repackage hit there again making four weeks in South Korea? And I was also under the impression it had shifted quite a lot of sales? It's sad to hear if they're not doing so well in South Korea though, there does seem to be quite a bit of negativity towards them. Every career has ups and downs though so to not sell as much as previous wouldn't be a huge surprise, imo Sexy Free & Single and Spy aren't as good as their previous singles, so I wouldn't personally be expecting them to do as well. Hahah yeah I posted the vid for 'Break Down', it's the first song they've released whilst I've been following them so kinda make or break for whether or not I became a fan, it was make though, it's a great song imo. Ah that's good, I'm glad you like it as well. :cheer: Still no big Bang? Are they expected to be making a come back?
  6. Is it ok if I post this here? e_Nz8t3vNo8 I know they're singing in Chinese, but I still see them as k-pop as most of them are Korean and they are a sub unit of a Korean group. Hopefully someone else might enjoy them on here. SJ-M really sold me on SJ, Perfection, Super Girl and now this are all great songs imo, plus I really like Henry & Zhou Mi!
  7. Ok so got around to listening to these, I watched the MV and then a live performance so I could judge them fair. :) Out of the f(x) songs I prefer Electric Shock, it's very catchy, although I really like both. The 'La la la's' in the first song are really good, I love that bit. I found the first two Girls' Generation songs a bit boring but 'The Boys' is really good, I am familiar with that one and I definitely like it, it's a bit like a chant, the last one is alright too. I think I've heard others by then that I liked better though, I really like the one with 'Taxi' in it... 'Mr Taxi'? i also am one of the few that like their new one, I do think it's all over the place but I find it really catchy and like all the different elements to it. Ahh I see, it's a bit weird that two off them didn't file a lawsuit. It's always sad when groups split to me, I really don't like it. But hopefully everything is settled now and it's nice that some good came out of it in the end. I know what you mean, it's hard to judge when you don't know the full story. Presumably JYJ are happy with the outcome and that HoMin are also happy now too, that's all that really matters. Girls Generation are definitely growing on me. :)
  8. Woohooo! It's doing really well! Is that double platinum in Australia? This has apparently been confirmed as their debut single in the US as well as a lot of European countries which is really exciting! I'm really happy people have took to it.
  9. Oooh what happened with TVXQ? I think that might be why I was confused as was 'Keep Your Head Down' originally with 5 members? I think I saw the video a few times and thought they were a 5 piece group but when you said TVXQ there and the only option left was the two males it kinda threw me. I was watching another SMTown last night, the Seoul one I think it was and Girls Generation were much better on it than the Tokyo one. I will definitely give them a chance I'm not up for writing anyone off so early. Will give those songs a listen later today and get back to you. :)
  10. Hahah I had a feeling you wouldn't be a big Super Junior fan. :P I see what you mean, but I wouldn't say they were copies of 'Sorry, Sorry' just keeping the same style, their latest two singles were quite different and some of their albums track (the ones I've heard anyways) vary quite a lot, 'Butterfly' is one of my faves from them and I don't think it sounds like their usual stuff. Exactly! It's just insane, I used to think UK/European/US boybands, especially from the 90's and early 00's were really cool... k-pop has basically crushed my childhood because now when I look back live performances just look so messy and lame compared. I actually LOVED the SMTown thing I watched, it was awesome, at the start I was a bit <_<  but as it went on I really warmed to it and thought it was incredible by the end. I'm not sure on all of the acts names because some of them weren't written in English and shamefully I didn't understand. I did think SHINee were amazing though, I had heard their name a lot when I watched k-pop stuff and had heard a few of their songs, but live they are amazing, they really have such a great energy around them, they were really impressive. All the guys were actually, I think one of the other boybands were Exo? They were really cool too. If TVXQ were the two guys, they were my highlight after SJ-M, they were awesome! I wasn't impressed with the girls so much, F(x) were alright, but I've heard so much about Girls Generation and when watching it I just didn't get it. Maybe it wasn't their best performance and it's unfair to dismiss anyone after just seeing them once, but they were the weakest out of the line up imo. Gonna try and watch some more shows like that though, it was really good! Maybe there isn't that much samples, but they just really stand out to me when there are some because I know the originals so well. It happens though unfortunately, it's just a shame when k-pop does it, because original k-pop is so amazing it doesn't need too.
  11. I'm kinda new to k-pop so don't really know that much about everyone, but have fallen in love with the genre. It's very cheesy, but when they get it right, boy do they get it right! I'm probably alone on here with this (as they tend not to by popular on forums), but I adore Super Junior, I avoided boybands for ages as I was a big girl group lover, but decided to branch out and they're my fave artist from the ones I've seen. Currently watching SMTown Live in Tokyo from this year to get a general grasp. So far the boybands are slaying the girl groups but I'm less than half way through so that could change. My fave thing about k-pop: the dancing, it looks wicked, the bigger the group the better it tends to look too! It really puts UK groups to shame in that aspect. Worst Thing about K-Pop: The samples/covers... there seems to be tonnes of it and I know that's not unusual, but they do it to recent songs so it's really obvious. It kinda bugs me as the original k-pop songs are always so catchy. Blah anyway... pointless post. But just wanted to join in the k-pop appreciation.
  12. ^^ That's great! I hope it can, 'Wings' is infinitely better than 'Cannonball' so deserves too! I believe it's just about 2k off going Gold so should do that by Sunday which is really cool!
  13. Have they recorded a music video for either of these songs? I love both and I'm not even a JLS fan, it feels like a wasted opportunity almost like their record label wants them to flop. <_<
  14. I love this song, not as much as 'Standing In The Dark' but there's a completely different feel about this one, it kinda wants me to see them live, it's the kinda song you can imagine being amazing in a stadium with a huge live audience. I hope this can do well, I'm a bit worried how a post album single will do for them as they tend to do well first week and they drop like a stone, but their fanbase already own this... anyway, hopefully it will do well.
  15. I hope they don't split, I'm not really a fan but 'Hold Me Down' is their best song since 'Beat Again' for me and I think the way this release has been handled is shockingly bad ad unfair on them. I'd like to see them change management & labels if it's possible as I feel a lot of the fault lies in them. TBH I kind of forget about JLS when it comes to current boybands, you really don't hear about them anymore.
  16. I certainly don't think it'll go to #1. Airplay was very slow with Wings and has been quite poor for DNA, I don't think they'll back this enough and I think sales will be spread out too much to go #1. I hope I'm wrong but I'm just keeping everything crossed for #10 or higher. It's much more about sales than chart position with post album releases though and more importantly I hope it helps the album to keep selling after the new year.
  17. I wonder why so far away, I don't really think it's need 7 weeks from now to build, there was quite a lot of hype about it the week before the album was released and it did chart that week too, capitalizing on that buzz and releasing it quickly would have made more sense to me. I'm a bit worried people will be over this by the time of it's release and it'll end up getting spread out sales rather than concentrated high peak (I presume they'll be aiming for a top 10 at the least).
  18. Love the artwork for this! It's not my fave on the album but I do think it's the best single choice, I really hope it does well for them, I really hope radio back this as they didn't really with DNA and were very slow to actually back Wings.
  19. Wow Spirit sold 3 million, that's huge, I hadn't realised it was that big! I'd Forgotten about Journey South & G4, shame it's not an all time list though and maybe a top 40. It would be very interesting that's for sure.
  20. I said between 150-200k although the charity factor may bump it over 200k. Cannonball was such a bad match for Little Mix so in a way I'd be surprised if it doesn't sell more, but then viewing figures are down by quite a bit.
  21. They did an interview backstage with key103 the other day and Jesy basically let slip that they're planning to go to the US in 2013. I'm sort of conflicted, I don't feel like their fanbase is big and loyal enough in the UK to leave for ages which the US will request, but then they could be like Cher Lloyd and do even better over there than here. I can see Wings doing well over there though, I really hope it does.
  22. They said they hope to release a deluxe version on with the tracks they recorded with Barlow. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a39...luxe-album.html They've never confirmed that it definitely will happen though, I personally hope it doesn't.
  23. 1. Higher 2. Headlines! 3. Mollie 4. Headlines! 5. 1. Una 2. Rochelle 3. Vanessa 4. Frankie 5. Mollie 6. // 7. Beggin' Live Lounge
  24. Yeah their singles rarely trouble the charts sadly, I'd be surprised if they even release it on iTunes separately, the aim will be to sell the album for sure. I hope it does, because I actually prefer this album to their debut now, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoyed their first, it's a progression in sound but is still very true to what they are so good at.
  25. The first guy (Marvin?) sounded really bad there and like Jark said it was a boring performance, I thought they were just standing there because the pro's were going to come on and dance around them like what normally happens on SCD, but they didn't. Shame it's their best song for me, but the live performance almost put me off.
