Exactly. Non-streaming artist easily getting second week with over 10k is not something you see everyday.

Sure, but 'Thank U, Next' opened with 65k in February 2019. The album era started 3 months earlier and before the album dropped there were already 2 massive number one singles from it. While lead single from 'Positions' was released only a week before the album. So the album came out of nowhere and there wasn't really that much hype and anticipation for it. With the lack of proper album campaign were we really expecting it to do 65k as 'Thank U, Next' or even 50k? I definitely wasn't. But still its lead will probably spend two weeks at number one plus all 14 songs from the album are currently top 60 on Spotify UK. So if we put it into context I think it's not that bad. For me

What I wanted to say is the fact that 'Positions' is not as big as 'Thank U, Next' is not really an argument to prove that it flopped/underperformed because it was never going to be as big.
  4. Somehow I often forget that Don't Be So Hard peaked at number one
  5. With Paul Harvey still being number one on iTunes and only #71 in chart update I wonder if this week it can become the first ever case of sales-only number one missing the official top 100.
  6. Didn't think I'll finish top 20 so number 18 really exceeded my expectations
  7. I love how I went for 2 as an answer, was also thinking about 1 or 0 and then turns out it was 3
  8. I thought nearly everyone will recognise Disclosure as it was the most recent one
  9. Haha no, I've never listened to the album at all  The cover is just quite memorable for me. And I thought for others too as there were some chart hits from that era including 'Work From Home'.

Going back to Ariana: I don't think there's much sense comparing 'Positions' to 'Thank U, Next'. Personally, I felt a long time ago that TUN era is her peak era because of how massive it was. Most artists, even the biggest stars with decades-long careers tend to have this one era that is so successfull that it's simply impossible to beat it or replicate. And that doesn't mean they flop after that. They still have number one singles, platinum albums and so on. Just that one extremely massive era is bigger than anything else and happens once in a lifetime. And that's natural. So I knew that next Ariana album won't be as big as TUN before it was even announced that 'Positions' exist. Simply beacause I couldn't imagine a bigger era than 'Thank U, Next'. Maybe there were people who thought that 'Positions' will outsell 'Thank U, Next' but tbh I don't think there were many of them! So I don't think that comparing 'Positions' to TUN is a way to prove that it flopped. Because going with the same logic I can tell you all a fascinating story about Adele career-ending flop in 2015 when her album sold only 23 million copies which was less than what '21' did. Is your 12 times platinum album a flop beacause the previous one is 17 times platinum? And no, I'm not really Ariana fan or something.
  11. OMG just checked Apple Music chart, Sweet Melody at #8, Diamonds at #9 :w00t:

Yeah, I think it's actually good that they released an album now as they had to somehow close this era, even if the sales might not be too impressive. Now Sam can move on to the next one and have a success with it. They're definitely not over. I just thought Sam might have a little bit higher pre-orders now, even despite the messy campaign for the last few months.
  13. I'm shocked only 8 people got Fifth Harmony cover. It was actually one of the easiest for me.

I was expecting Sam and Ariana to have at least 25k already. Even though their album campaign was destroyed after pandemic began I thought Sam Smith is big enough figure to have decent pre-orders of 'Love Goes'. Also Dizzee Rascal making midweek top 10 is a surprise to me. I thought his relevancy in 2020 is non-existent and album will be a massive flop.
