  1. The following appeared on the Billboard Catalog Album Charts (w/e 7th July, 2012): 'Heart And Soul' selling some 1590 copies. Total sales to date: 566,246 copies. 'Elvis: The Very Best Of Love' selling some 1579 copies. Total sales to date: 277,512 copies. 'The Essential Elvis' selling some 1470 copies. Total sales to date: 451,993 copies. It is a double album and therefore under RIAA rules qualifies for double sales - so for their purposes it has sold 903,986 copies and already been awarded Gold status. Could be in line for a Platinum upgrade - perhaps in August. 'An Afternoon In The Garden' selling some 1356 copies. Total sales to date: 474,368 copies. 'Elvis Country' (Compilation) selling some 1225 copies. Total sales to date: 116,109 copies. Brian :D

  3. Great News. Executives from Sony Music will emcee a free event at the Elvis Week Main Stage on Wednesday, August 15, as they present multiple awards for releases of Elvis' music that have achieved Gold, Platinum or Diamond status based on RIAA record sales. I expect new GOLD Awards for 'An Afternoon In The Garden' and 'Christmas Duets' plus Platinum Presentations for Elvis' first two Albums 'Elvis Presley' and 'Elvis' and the Diamond Award for 'Elvis' Christmas Album' (1970 Version). There could be more. Should bring Elvis' total RIAA album sales tally to at least 135.5 million. Brian B-)
  4. The following appeared on the Billboard Catalog Album Charts (w/e 23rd June, 2012): 'Elvis: The Very Best Of Love' selling some 1855 copies. Total sales to date: 274,015 copies. 'An Afternoon In The Garden' selling some 1541 copies. Total sales to date: 472,390 copies. 'Heart And Soul' selling some 1430 copies. Total sales to date: 562,929 copies. 'The Essential Elvis' selling some 1055 copies. Total sales to date: 411,867 copies. As this is a 2CD album it counts for double sales under RIAA rules and therefore for their purposes has sold 823,734 copies. Brian :)
  5. The following appeared on the Billboard Catalog Album Charts (w/e 16th June, 2012): 'Elvis: The Very Best Of Love' selling some 1790 copies. Total sales to date: 272,160 copies. 'An Afternoon In The Garden' selling some 1643 copies. Total sales to date: 470,849 copies. 'Heart And Soul' selling some 1419 copies. Total sales to date: 561,499 copies. 'Elvis Rock' (Compilation) selling some 1094 copies. Total sales to date: 169,396 copies. 'Elvis Country' (Compilation) selling some 1032 copies. Total sales to date: 110,843 copies. 'Elvis Inspirational' (Compilation) selling some 1008 copies. Total sales to date: 89,153 copies. 'Essential Elvis' selling some 1007 copies. Total sales to date: 350,274 copies (minimum). The last Soundscan figure we have for this album at the end of 2010 was 348,357 copies sold. It is a double album and therefore under RIAA rules qualifies for double sales - so for their purposes it has sold 696,714 copies and already been awarded Gold status. However, it must be remembered we have no record of sales since the end of 2010 (until now) so the total should be considerably higher. One that could be in the frame for a Platinum Award in the not too distant future. 'Elvis Christmas' selling some 14 copies. Total sales to date: 599,531 copies. Brian :)

  7. More on this story: Digital Domain Media Group and CORE Media Group to Create Virtual Elvis Presley June 06, 2012 Digital production company Digital Domain Media Group (NYSE: DDMG) announced today that it has signed an exclusive agreement with CORE Media Group (formerly CKx) to jointly develop, produce and own a series of “virtual” Elvis Presley likenesses for a range of entertainment projects – from shows and appearances to film, TV and multi-platform productions throughout the world. Digital Domain Media Group, the only company whose employees have received an Academy Award for creating a completely believable computer-generated (CG) human, created the CG likeness of Tupac Shakur for Dr. Dre’s recent show at the Coachella Valley Music Festival. CORE Media Group, a portfolio company of Apollo Global Management LLC, is the driving force behind such iconic brands as Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali, “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” “This is a new and exciting way to bring the magic and music of Elvis Presley to life. His lifelong fans will be thrilled all over again and new audiences will discover the electric experience of Elvis the performer,” said Elvis Presley Enterprises President and CEO, Jack Soden. “The high level of quality entertainment that both CORE Media Group and Digital Domain deliver gives us great confidence that these projects will help continue the growth of Elvis’ rich legacy all over the world.” Elvis Presley Enterprises is a division of CORE Media Group. The companies have already begun work on the virtual Elvis Presley likenesses and will announce when and where audiences can expect to see the first virtual Elvis performances. “Elvis is the most iconic, most recognized performer on the planet, and we are thrilled to have been chosen to bring new performances and original shows where fans can have their own, new experiences of Elvis,” said Digital Domain Media Group Chairman and CEO John Textor. “In addition to being a dream project on the creative side, this agreement enables us to participate in the success of any number of potential virtual Elvis appearances.” “As we look for new ways to offer audiences our intellectual property across multiple platforms, this partnership is the perfect fit for CORE Media, and exactly the type of announcement you can expect to see more of from us,” said CORE Media Group President Marc Graboff. “Clearly the team at Digital Domain is at the leading edge of the virtual experience arena, and we are anxious to get working on this exciting project.” With more than 150 albums and singles certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum, Elvis Presley continues to show the world why he's the King. From Broadway plays and live entertainment to books, movies, television, music, and concerts, Elvis sightings occur every day, all over the world. With more than six million fans on Facebook, over 70,000 official app downloads and more than five million unique visitors annually to Elvis.com, he is also now the King of Digital. From Digital Domain’s work on “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” to “TRON: Legacy,” “X-Men: First Class” to Tupac Shakur, the company has spent a decade and tens of millions of dollars in perpetual development perfecting its technology, tools, and techniques to create realistic computer generated humans. I doubt that they can or will as most record companies keep such information confidential. I know Sony does. Point of sale scans and downloads are only part of the equation. A lot of Elvis' sales records have been lost in the mists of time e.g. his HMV sales for openers. I have e-mailed them requesting an official source. Brian

  11. With all the Elvis name dropping in recent years the following made me laugh: By the way, 'Spirit In The Room' is the title of Tom's latest album and is on course for a No.7 entry on the UK album charts on Sunday. Brian :D
  12. When will people realise that NO-ONE overtakes Elvis Presley. He was, and remains, the greatest of all-time. How many people throughout the World could name you a 'Lil Wayne' track or even know who 'Lil Wayne' was? People had to pay real money to buy an Elvis record not the giveaway prices charged today for downloads. Further, Elvis is the most photographed and impersonated person of all-time. I wonder where 'Lil' Wayne will be in the charts some 35 years after his death!!! Brian :D
