  1. Calm your implants, it's done pretty bad for Maroon 5 standards.

It's not even top 10 in the US no more, only sold 500k in the US since it's release in June and hasn't touched the top 10 in any country, besides 10 of them.

This is in contrast with their other lead singles that did do well Makes Me Wonder, Moves Like Jagger and Payphone

Overuse of the world "flop" there don't you think though? It's still holding strong on US radio and only recently dropped out of top 10 in US after being there for just under 2 months. Not "Moves like Jagger" or "Payphone" standards but you can't have that same stonking success with every single. I'd say it will peak around #6 or #7 in our chart.

  2. Shocked that Maroon 5 are releasing OA/OS, they're not a big enough name to get a No.1 on name alone but probably would if it was held back!

What's the source for this? I've not seen anywhere that suggests the UK release date is tomorrow. It is for the US but not for UK anyway. They're also now on Interscope which tend to hold back releases for US artists in the UK like they did for OneRepublic "Love Runs Out" (Ryan Tedder wrote some of "Maps" as well).

  3. I still don't understand why it's doing SO badly. After how well the previous singles did, I would've assumed it would atleast go Top 20. It's doing quite well worldwide.

    **

Mario's 'Let Me Love You' is one song I never thought I'd see high up on iTunes

It's not doing well because it doesn't have a proper music video I think. They released a 7 minute long video I think that just had fan footage on it. The video itself is barely on any music channels and I think that has affected it hugely. I remember when 'One More Night' was released and the same with 'Payphone', those videos got played a lot whereas the music channels haven't took a liking to this track which I think is down to it having, quite frankly, a shitty video. The video itself looking at the video airplay charts the past few weeks just hasn't been getting played.

Although, I do think it may have been the wrong choice as third single but that's another debate. I thought there were better tracks suited to be third single on the album.

  4. But it's had really low sales and should have sold a lot more than 100,000 for an album that's spent so long in the top 3 and for an artist whose last two singles have been massive.

You need your head seeing to if you think Maroon 5's latest album is 'flopping' as you call it. Album sales are down across the board. If the climate was better the album would sell more and still probably be around the same position. The market has shrunk currently but will no doubt improve as we move into Q4 which traditionally is better for album sales.

As big a Maroon 5 fan that I am, Linkin Park have #1 all but wrapped up in my opinion. They've been ahead on pre-orders on most online retailers. In general Linkin Park can still shift the units I feel just to sneak ahead of Maroon 5. Maroon 5 will most likely be at #2, although I predict top 3 just because they don't seem to sell as much albums as they have done in the past. The MLJ argument with HAO is a mute point. MLJ was tacked on as a re-issue and wasn't publicised much, apart from being included in the 2 for £10 offer at HMV for example.
  6. Absolutely zero discussion on this album? Suprised to be honest, considering this went #1. The album is pretty solid throughout, albeit a very safe sounding album for Keane. It's not taking any form of risks like Perfect Symmetry did which I thought was a much better album. Soverign Light Cafe is the standout track for me.
  7. lol, okay...?

I know Keane are generally album sellers, what did I say that was so wrong exactly? (other than the fact Strangeland would only be their 4th No.1 album, since Night Train is technically an EP, but still)

I disagree with the fact the album will drop massively next week. I can see it holding up at an acceptable level. I can't see it selling massively either though unless they can turnaround their relevance in the singles market which hasn't happened so far with lead single "Silenced by the Night".

  8. 1. Strangeland (Deluxe Version) - Keane

    4. Standing At the Sky's Edge - Richard Hawley

    7. Strangeland - Keane

    8. In the Belly of the Brazen Bull - The Cribs

    12. Strange Clouds - B.o.B

    13. Bajan Style - Cover Drive

    36. Strangeland (Deluxe Version) - Keane

    37. Bajan Style (Deluxe Version) - Cover Drive

    53. LoveBlood - King Charles

    61. Dr. Dee - Damon Albarn

    76. Like Comedy - The Proclaimers

    77. Signs & Signifiers - JD McPherson

    87. Everything in Colour - Ben Cantelon

    109. LoveBlood (Deluxe Version) - King Charles

    113. Neck of the Woods - Silversun Pickups

    114. Hello Land! - Guillemots

    145. A Kiss Before You Go (Deluxe Version) - Katzenjammer

    167. Like Comedy - The Proclaimers

    181. Iron Lungs - Polar

So at the moment, we could be looking at 4/5 new entries in the Top 10, and more importantly, Keane getting a FIFTH #1 ALBUM! (before they fall about 10/15 places next week of course)

You quite clearly don't know what you're talking about. Keane are generally album sellers nowadays with the recent exception of Night Train which was an EP anyway and still went #1.

I've said top 10, I really couldn't see them getting another big hit but its progress in the USA so far is sadly hinting that they could. Seriously, who decided it was suddenly okay for this awful band to be successful again? :(

(Not heard the song but I don't see how I'd like it as Adam's voice is the main reason I hate them so much - 'This Love' being on The Voice the other day showed that it was actually a quite good song, just rendered unbearable by that voice. It's only tolerable in small doses as on 'Heard 'Em Say' and 'Stereo Hearts').

How about the general music buying public decided? Seriously, I love the input you put into this site Bre, but your constant dissaproval of anything Maroon 5 gets really annoying. I'm a bit of a lurker on these forums. I generally post every now and then and yes I am biased in that I like Maroon 5. It was even more annoying back when MLJ was doing really well throughout the whole of late last year. It's ok not to like a track or even a band and even to state that but the numerous occasions you do it, it just becomes tedious and like I say I love the input you put into these forums. I have my dislikes and likes and it's obvious you do as well. Sorry if I'm coming across as too strong here, it's just something I constantly see a lot from you on these forums and it's the only negative thing I have to say about you.

Awful band in your opinion I suppose. One of my favourite bands, if not, my favourite. I've been listening to them since I was 14 and I've grown up with them. They have a lot of wonderful gems on their albums that people never hear and just mainly judge on the singles they put out.

As for the song, I love it! It seems more "Stereo Hearts" than anything like MLJ to be perfectly honest.

  10. Confirmed that Disconnected will be the first single released in the UK. I have high hopes for this album!

Disconnected isn't the first single in the UK. It's already been confirmed by Keane themselves that Silenced by the Night will be the lead single in the UK. It had its first UK radio play last week on Fearne Cotton's Radio 1 show.

Here's a radio rip of "Disconnected". There were original murmurings that "Disconnected" would be the first single in the UK whilst "Silenced by the Night" would be the first single in the US. They've already shot the video for "Disconnected". "Disconnected" is the first single in Germany by the sounds of it and will probably be the second single in the UK.

  12. No, everything is much closer because of 1D. Earlier in the day someone calculated it with another method that showed Pixie having a 28% lead IIRC but it could have fallen since then.

Hit the nail on the head there. I still think it will be close between the Saturdays and Pixie.

  13. I think it has had a lot of support. I mean, I know Radio 2 and Heart FM aren't playing it, but Capital, one of the most important radio stations for the charts, has been playing it a lot. And Radio 1 have surely played it aswell. And then add to the fact that on the Internety EVERYBODY talks about her non-stop seemingly, so people who use the web will know the song aswell. Not sure about MTV though. Perhaps people just don't like the song?

I think it's good though. It has a very catchy melody at least. And I'd like to see will.i.am back in the charts aswell, even though he didn't make this beat.

No idea where you're getting this from. They can't be playing it that much considering it isn't even in the top 100 on radio airplay.

  14. Yes, but he posted that yesterday!

    Up to #3 already!! :o

Is there anything else out this week? I read on the schedule that Natalia Kills is. She should go top 10, since I've heard the song a lot on the radio, not to mention, for people who use the Internet, she's unavoidable.

Natalia Kills isn't even in the top 100 on airplay. I very much doubt that will go top 10.

  15. I think they've lost their chance now. They always seem to be selling slightly less than MLJ. Predictions:

    1. Maroon 5

    2. Adele

    3. Foster the People

    4. LMFAO

    5. Lady Gaga

    6. Nicki Minaj

    7. Cobra Starship

    8. Bad Meets Evil

    9. Rihanna

    10. Katy Perry

I'm probably way off though.

Gym Class Heroes will be around 5-7, how can you forget that track :P

  16. Collide #7 :o This has had an itunes run similar to an OA/OS single, with a peak, then falling fast. She should be able to get some good sales though with more promo and airplay

Snow Patrol at #13... This isn't going top 10 then i guess :(

Off topic: MLJ back to #1 on US iTunes, SLY down to #2

She'll be top 5 roughly on TV airplay tomorrow and just outside top 40 on radio airplay I think. It's radio airplay that is a bit dissapointing.

  17. :cheer:

Since they don't seem to have any new material in the offing, I wonder if this will be repromoted after Moves Like Jagger has done it's thing?

They'll have to shoot a new video if they're going to do that. I think one of the reasons it didn't do as well when it was released last year was the ridiculous censoring of the video. It had to go through so many edits before it could finally be shown on UK tv. Go search on youtube for the UK edit of the video. It's quite frankly a joke.

I still don't think it would have gone top 10 without the video fiasco but it could have done better than top 30.

  18. Maybe it could climb a bit officially by the weekend then. It is now top 10 on iTunes.

Possibly, I wouldn't think by much if I'm being honest.

I walked into HMV yesterday and I saw the new revised version on the shelves. I think it could be top 20 next week if it continues climbing. Earlier in the week the repackaged version on Play.com was being dispatched within 3-5 days which would indicate they perhaps didn't have that many copies. It's changed now back to dispatch within 24 hours. It's climbing up the HMV music chart and Play.com bestseller chart, as I keep checking. No sign of it on Amazon despite the revised version being on there.

  19. Because I love Gym Class Heroes and hate Adam Levine. 'Stereo Hearts' would be up there with the other 3 if it didn't have Adam's annoying voice dragging it down (yes T Boy, I am bashing Maroon 5 again, I apologise but this is in direct response to someone else's comment which I'd like to respond to but can't without saying this again). Unless the song is poor by their standards I'll like it more than SH. I did say 'almost certainly' instead of 'definitely' because I'm allowing for the possibility it will be poor by their standards. I just doubt that as I've absolutely loved everything I've heard by them so far and 'Billionaire' which may as well be a GCH song.

This is correct but I'm not biased enough to hate Stereo Hearts just because of its feature - it would just be far better if it had a less annoying featured vocalist is all. I do still like it. :P

It's ok. It was just the way you said it in the sense it was pretty much fact. A better expression would have been almost certainly in your opinion or something like that compared to Stereo Hearts. I can see the understanding where you don't like a track from a favourite artist so you have high hopes for the follow up.

Speaking of when Stereo Hearts is released, the same week Matt Cardle and Kelly Clarkson are out. I particularly don't like Matt Cardle's new track which is surprising because it is written by Gary Barlow. It may grow on me but I cannot see that style of music as a lead single (not counting 'When We Collid') doing anything amazing for him. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes #1 but I'm hoping for a Joe McElderry like debut.
