Previous part of that sentence is your opinion. It's my favourite song of theirs since Cupid's Chokehold. I'm not sure how you can say their second single will be better with so much certainty. If you hope it is (and you probably will think it is because you don't like the featured singer) you should say that but unless you have any actual facts to back that up (even then it will only be an opinion) that sentence is conjecture.
  2. If One Direction don't get #1 I'll eat my hat. In which case I would have to go out and buy a hat for the specific purpose of eating it because I do not own a hat.

It's released the week Matt Cardle releases his single isn't it? I'm surprised nobody picked up on Stereo Hearts on the 'predict upcoming hits' thread that was opened a few days ago. Cover version might be up there because it's the VIP track of the week on the music stations so it is pretty much being played every day quite regularly. Heard it on CapitalFM a few times the past week actually.

They were hovering around the low 20's for the most of this week. I think it's only today they've climbed up to #11 which is a sharp increase. I would suspect it is the physical sales that is keeping it from climbing high in the mids. It is actually out as I've checked a few retailers.

Maroon 5's re-released album "Hands All Over" is now up to #11 on the iTunes album chart. Not bad considering. Maybe people are rediscovering the band and taking an interest now with the success of MLJ.

What I'm saying is you could argue if MLJ was released any other week it would have gone #1, especially on a quiet week if we apply the same theory with The Saturdays to what you just said. For the record, I don't think MLJ will ever get to #1. Last week was the best opportunity just narrowly missing out to Example. I can see MLJ overtaking Pixie possibly towards the end of the week but it won't get #1 officially.

You could easily say the same for MLJ but it doesn't work that way.

It worked for MLJ so you do have a point.

I would expect it to increase sales but not beat its peak last year. It's giving Maroon 5 that bit more exposure now thanks to MLJ. I suspect people are just becoming aware of the album now with the recent chart success. I might buy it myself. I never bought the album physically and MLJ is a great addition to it. I love the album. Only a handful of tracks I skip. My favourite is "Just a Feeling".

I honestly don't see why anyone thinks Maroon 5 will be #1 this week. Last week was its best chance, especially with the difference being less than 300 copies between it getting to #1. I know it has increased its sales week on week but the best I can see this week for MLJ is #2 again. More likely another week at #3 I think.

Just seen Maroon 5 Hands All Over at #18 on the album chart. Figured it's the re-released version with MLJ on it. By the looks of Play and HMV etc it looks like it has been physically been re-released as well with MLJ on it.

I think it's the combination of the two. No one can deny the impact X Factor has on the charts these days, even if the performance wasn't as good as hyped.

It was a joke just in case you didn't catch it :P

Who does NOT own this song? Honestly, I would have guessed about 3, 4, maybe 5 people at a stretch in the UK didn't own this song :D
  15. Gym Class Heroes feat Adam Levine - Stereo Hearts Finally! Started seeing this on the music channels. CapitalFM have also played this a couple of times this week. Love it. It's top 10 on the billboard hot 100 this week as well. Out of curiousity where did you get this release date from? I've been looking for the date everywhere!

Haha! That might be the best post I've seen all week :D
  17. I think this "Dave Taylor" does it to try and be funny. The majority of the time it just fails.

And Maroon 5 of course?

Nice to see MLJ at #1 but I can't see it lasting past Sunday with Pixie Lott amongst others being released then. Peak of #2 should be enough for this Sunday. Hope I'm proved wrong.

    Sorry! Bad habit :P

I wasn't trying to create an argument at all. Sorry about that. I did mention if you look back at my post that it doesn't make your opinion any less valid, so I don't have any "double standards" :s. It's just most people do express their like or dislike for a song but just not on so many occasions. I express my like for song maybe once, twice at the most. I'll join in with discussions on the song but I don't continually keep saying I like the song. There is nothing wrong with anyone thinking a song is terrible or the worst #1 since whoever it's just it can grait at people (and particularly the baiting of T-boy which wasn't fair) when it is said like for instance "MLJ will be the worst #1 since "insert song name here"" and continually saying stuff like **** off MLJ/Maroon 5 etc. Nothing wrong with starting or ending those sentences with "I feel", "in my opinion" but sometimes it's said in a way that is portrayed as fact. Maybe that was what T-boy was referring to, without putting words in his/her mouth.

We get it!!! You don't like Maroon 5 MLJ. Crying out loud lol!! MLJ the worst #1 since "Beautiful Girls"? Don't speak rubbish. Don't take offence to this and I get you don't like the track as you have mentioned on numerous occasions but from the consensus on this forum, most people like the song. Not that your opinion is any less valid on that point :)

I think you'll end up being right unfortunately :( At least it will have that longevity. I would prefer that over peaking at #1 and then freefalling down the chart.

The figures I quoted were from the 1990's to 2000's. I've never been able to find any more recent data concerning recent years. You might be right. Will have to do some digging on that one. Either way I think it would be fair to say the UK and the US are the most influential? The crossover appeal of UK and US artists into other markets is one you don't see with any other country for example. Edit: You're right Darren, found the article you were referring to - http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?storyCo...p;sectioncode=1 By the way, I wasn't talking about Lady Gaga with Y&I :P

Fair point which is why I mentioned UK being the second largest in the western world (I tend to get South Korea mixed with Japan for some reason). Japan isn't in the western world nor do they have much influence. The big markets are still the UK and the US. Actually the UK has a market share in the world of 6.4% - 9.1%, whilst Germany has only a 5.3% - 6.4% market share which would make UK the second largest.
