iTunes Chart: July 2010 (III)
I'm really liking Dynamite. I thought it was average when I first heard it, but after multiple listens it clicked with me. I'd much rather Alex got to #1 though.

As far as I know, they don't have non-rap edits. Bad Boys has a middle 8, which some stations play instead of the rap (same with All Night Long). Some songs (like California Gurls and Start Without You - I think) have no middle 8 and just a rap in the middle.

Bad Boys has a non-rap edit. I've heard it on my local station, and it's the version Alex sings live. :)

Rap doesn't just appeal to black people, you know. I'm a casual rap fan, for example. A lot of "chavs" in this country probably only bought songs like Empire State of Mind, Love the Way You Lie, Airplanes, etc. for the rap. Whereas some people bought it for the female singing the chorus. A song with a rap section simply adds to its target appeal, because some will like the singer and some will like the rapper. How could that make it sell less? Urban stations only play urban music. Rap is urban. White people listen to urban music too, you know.

La Roux - Tigerlily
I think this is the second US single.

Taking the rap out would not be a smart move. Adding a rap to a song makes people more likely to buy it, because it gives it a wider crossover appeal. Anyway, the reason most songs these days have a rap is because of American radio.

Alexandra Burke 'Start Without You' [1st/next single]
SyCo have messed some things up, but they've handled Alex's career quite well so far. Bad Boys was handled perfectly, Broken Heels was for the most part, and All Night Long went on to be a top 5 hit. I think some people just like to blame SyCo for everything. Yes, they got the lead single for Echo wrong - but that doesn't make them completely incompetent. There were no lead singles on Echo, apart from Can't Breathe, which was recorded too late to be the lead single. I never would have chosen Happy as the lead single, but everything else on the album probably would have had the same fate as it.

SyCo need to move the release date forward, because Taio is definitely going to be #1. Dynamite has much more hype than Start Without You has.

That video on the Sun's website is so sweet. Her version of Fallin' is really nice. Thanks for posting the link to the performance. She's such a natural on stage.

Even if this does chart at #1, it looks like it will have a similar/worse chart run than Once by Diana Vickers, which can only be a good thing. I'm so glad the public have proven that we won't just buy anything, regardless of quality.

It will be a travesty if this song makes it to #1. Airplanes, California Gurls and Love the Way You Lie are all far more deserving (and My First Kiss, to a lesser extent).

'Teenage Dream' • Second Album Discussion
I can't believe this album isn't coming out until late August! Although I suppose releasing it on the back of California Gurls would be a mistake... I didn't get One of the Boys, but I think I'll be buying this. :)

Alexandra Burke - Perfect
This is one of my favourite Alex songs. It's stunning. Bruno Mars's version is quite good as well.
