  1. I love Gaslight - all of their previous 3 albums are great - although the last 2 are a step up on the first one. Handwritten is, in my view, a step up again on anything they have done. i really hope they crack through into the big league with this album because they are the best rock band around at the moment. another great track off the album
  2. I have avoided the leaks and even not watched Jimmy Fallon until I got my hands on the album. It arrived this morning (got to love Play.com) and it is fantastic - best thing he's done for 10 years
  3. No I don'k think so. I've had it on repeat all day and I'm loving it. Of course it's not his best but when you best is Thunder Road you can fall a long long way and still kick the shit out of most of today's artists. It's already stirring up political controversy in the US and from what I hear the rest of the album is even more political / angry. Not a huge fan of WOAD but for me this looks like it's back to the sort of standard of Magic and The Rising - so I'm one very happy Bruce fan. Roll on March 5th and then June!!!
  4. do you have a date for the springsteen album - i'd heard 5th march on twitter?
  5. top 100 and 3 pages of comments and no-one has mentioned Nils Lofgren - how you can have a top 100 without even mentioning him I just don't get
  6. I don't think there's any doubt he will make more albums - it's all he is interested in doing and he has a big enough following to allow that to happen. The only real question is whether he will stay with a major label or go independent. The signs are good that he'll be able to stay with Columbia but tbh there are advantages in taking another route so I'm not too concerned either way.
  7. that's not bad at all - just needs to keep racking the sales up to xmas and over the tour and he'll do fine
  8. will Young? thanks
  9. My favourites are Letters and Pull Me Under - but pretty much love 'em all BUT it's a grower you have to listen to it a few times to all the songs to get under your skin. RFYL is definitely the worst song on the album and that seems to be pretty much universally accepted by fans
  10. can any of you explain how sales are counted for chart purposes. Starlight isn't out until 5th December but obviously you can download it now from Letters if you want (and judging by the itunes popularity bars people are) Do these sales get lost or are they counted somehow in the single sales once it's eligible to chart - god this makes me feel old
  11. personally think Starlight will give it a boost. The sales so far are pretty good on the back of what is frankly a poor opening single. Tour ticket sales seem to have gone well and if he can keep selling through xmas he must get close to platinum. Curious to see if sales were good following chattyman - performance of Letters was amazing
  12. Live session for MTV if anyone is interested http://www.mtv.co.uk/music/live-sessions
  13. does anyone have the mid week sales figures? - I have tried but I just don't understand this forum
  14. really shows the fall off in album sales in recent years though - almost any of those completely blow out of the water everyone but Adele this year.
  15. I'd be embarrassed to admit how often I've played it; but equally besotted. My top 5 are 1 Letters 2 Amazing 3 Faithless 4 Pull Me Under 5 Starlight ..............probably

Blondie was a band not a person!! I liked T'Pau went to see them a few times - she had a hell of a belt - but they just ran out of steam after making a couple of pretty good albums.
  17. Personally I think that Amazing, Pull Me Under, Stars & Lovers, Starlight and Letters would make better singles. If he wanted to release a ballad, again there is Faithless, Slowly, Walking on Water. All for Nothing and Reflections which are better ballads. So that's pretty much the whole album - I even prefer WWC to RFYL - the only one I'm not sold on at all is Beat of a Breaking Heart
  18. I hope you going to go an buy it B-)
  19. :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:
  20. do it - it's unbelievable you shouldn't have to deny yourself any longer :w00t: so long as you do buy it regardless
  21. I've got it and it's just incredible - the songs I hadn't heard of and loved; liked Amazing and Faithless as better in full and I didn't think that was possible - just f***ing unbelievable
  22. I really hated All For Nothing at first - but once I'd heard it live I totally changed my mind. Either these people are incompetent or I am really coming around to it being deliberate - an Barlow song to meet contractual requirements and then get on with the real album. Either that or the really believe that just the name Barlow will make it number 1 which to be honest brings me back to incompetent (or perhaps deluded)
  23. I'm waiting for my postie - I have all bases covered with signed from Play and deluxe from HMV so I should get one of them!! Video shoot yesterday for Starlight and the band are in the video whoop - Lorenzo (guitarist) tweeted he felt like a movie star  so excited - can't wait to here what everyone thinks - I know I'm gonna love it cos I've heard so much of it already but can't wait to listen to full versions of Amazing, Faithless which are my 2 faves from the previews and of course Starlight which I understand was on the radio last night and is mega
  24. you're spot on with this which I think is why they are rushing ahead with Starlight even before RFYL has charted. Personally I think the album would have had a better push of with Sparks than RFYL and they gave that away free. Still it's early days and the big sales weeks are still to come. if Starlight can get some traction I still have high hopes for the sales in the lead up to xmas - I think all of my relatives will be getting it whether they want it or not LOL
  25. it's like the argument they use about "if he was any good he'd have been picked up before" without any understanding (or caring) at how hard it is for a band to get signed in the current climate. At the end of the day though, he doesn't fit with the XF and never did (I still don't know how he won LOL) and they know that and they hate him for it but even more bizarre they hate the fact that he admits it too. It's nuts! I've said for some time that all I wanted was for him to produce the album we hoped for from him (which he has) and for it to sell enough to allow him to make another one. Suggestions at the moment are that he'll achieve this and anything else is icing - though a UK tour is important too I'm also hoping he might get the chance to support one of Columbia's artists on a US tour as well (but maybe not until 2013)
