Gaslight have a pretty loyal fanbase but I expect it will be very front end loaded so will drop over the course of the week - hope I'm wrong though. Edit: meant to reply to the other post not my own d'oh

great to see Brian Fallon's album in the top 10 - hope it can stay there - it's a fabulous album
  3. I love Gaslight - all of their previous 3 albums are great - although the last 2 are a step up on the first one. Handwritten is, in my view, a step up again on anything they have done. i really hope they crack through into the big league with this album because they are the best rock band around at the moment. another great track off the album

I'm a huge fan of Gaslight - personally think they are one of the best bands around and I'd love to see them get the success they deserve with Handwritten (which is fantastic). The album is holding up on itunes which may be a sign that they can hold on for the week - I don't expect it to be number 2 but a top 10 album would be incredible for them - and may encourage them to come over and do more dates!!
  5. I have avoided the leaks and even not watched Jimmy Fallon until I got my hands on the album. It arrived this morning (got to love Play.com) and it is fantastic - best thing he's done for 10 years
  6. No I don'k think so. I've had it on repeat all day and I'm loving it. Of course it's not his best but when you best is Thunder Road you can fall a long long way and still kick the shit out of most of today's artists. It's already stirring up political controversy in the US and from what I hear the rest of the album is even more political / angry. Not a huge fan of WOAD but for me this looks like it's back to the sort of standard of Magic and The Rising - so I'm one very happy Bruce fan. Roll on March 5th and then June!!!
  7. do you have a date for the springsteen album - i'd heard 5th march on twitter?
  8. top 100 and 3 pages of comments and no-one has mentioned Nils Lofgren - how you can have a top 100 without even mentioning him I just don't get

there is no single version released, just the Alias remixes (which are surprisingly good considering I generally hate dance music) so presumably the chart position is a combination of people downloading the song from the album plus the remixes. I'm surprised it is charting though - if indeed it is also most people seem to be downloading it from amazon as it is easier to find there

I'll be very interested to see how this does tbh - I'm definitely in the "donate direct" camp and XF has taken such a slating this year perhaps it isn't the nailed on certainty million seller it once was
  11. I don't think there's any doubt he will make more albums - it's all he is interested in doing and he has a big enough following to allow that to happen. The only real question is whether he will stay with a major label or go independent. The signs are good that he'll be able to stay with Columbia but tbh there are advantages in taking another route so I'm not too concerned either way.
  12. that's not bad at all - just needs to keep racking the sales up to xmas and over the tour and he'll do fine

I wonder why Westlife have gone with a song written by a major competitor? Very odd - I know why Matt did - he was told to and had no choice by don't get Westlife at all.

isn't it? :o but I'm glad I asked cos it's been driving me mad for weeks try to work out the maths and just when I think I've got it, it doesn't work - but that explains it if it's not actual maths
  15. will Young? thanks

I thought I did, the first number being last week's number the second being the movement; added together giving the actual position. Is that right? What's confused me is Matt Cardle is down as 30+2 - should that be 20+2 or has it fallen 12 places and should be 30+12 or have a totally got the wrong end of the stick?

can someone explain the numbers in the artists updates for me the x+y sorry but I don't understand it Surely 1D will storm the no 1 position WMYB sold 150K units in the first week - can't see how a song what's been out a month can beat them (unfortunately) even if it is Rhianna. Also do you have sales to last week for Will Young and James Morrison
  18. My favourites are Letters and Pull Me Under - but pretty much love 'em all BUT it's a grower you have to listen to it a few times to all the songs to get under your skin. RFYL is definitely the worst song on the album and that seems to be pretty much universally accepted by fans
  19. can any of you explain how sales are counted for chart purposes. Starlight isn't out until 5th December but obviously you can download it now from Letters if you want (and judging by the itunes popularity bars people are) Do these sales get lost or are they counted somehow in the single sales once it's eligible to chart - god this makes me feel old
  20. personally think Starlight will give it a boost. The sales so far are pretty good on the back of what is frankly a poor opening single. Tour ticket sales seem to have gone well and if he can keep selling through xmas he must get close to platinum. Curious to see if sales were good following chattyman - performance of Letters was amazing
  21. Live session for MTV if anyone is interested http://www.mtv.co.uk/music/live-sessions
  22. does anyone have the mid week sales figures? - I have tried but I just don't understand this forum
  23. really shows the fall off in album sales in recent years though - almost any of those completely blow out of the water everyone but Adele this year.
  24. I'd be embarrassed to admit how often I've played it; but equally besotted. My top 5 are 1 Letters 2 Amazing 3 Faithless 4 Pull Me Under 5 Starlight ..............probably

Blondie was a band not a person!! I liked T'Pau went to see them a few times - she had a hell of a belt - but they just ran out of steam after making a couple of pretty good albums.
