I was shocked it was #1 last week, to be honest. Streaming really dented Blank Space as it was also #1 on iTunes for quite a while back then. Since the ratio is 175:1 for stream/sales, it does give very dominantly sold tracks more chance to chart higher. That being said, streaming is getting more stronger now.

Heroes debuted at number 25 for Global Top 50 with 858k plays (EDIT: daily chart). That's impressive. I love this song but underestimated how it will actually perform on the charts because of streaming. So, I'm glad the song is doing well for him and doing better than I initially predicted.

Bad Blood is way ahead of the number 2 single on iTunes right now. Guy is number 6 and Måns is number 25. Bad Blood has a good chance of hitting number 1, if it keeps selling at that pace on iTunes. The streaming ratio in Australia is larger than UK, isn't it (ie. 150:1)? I know NZ has a larger ratio to stream/sales (175:1).

After the Billboard Awards last night, Taylor Swift's Bad Blood is a contender for number 1 for the Hot 100 in the chart after the next one. Already outselling SYA convincingly on iTunes and over 15 million views on Youtube already in just a day. Interesting how a music video premiere on an award show have made much more of an impact than any of the performances on the night!!!! Now that Bad Blood will slay, I really hope she releases New Romantics. Yes, it's in bonus tracks but the song is very good and it deserves a single and a video!!!!

They have been dropping on iTunes during the week. Unless they make record-breaking debuts on Youtube this week, they are going to drop for next week's charts. The real test for them is probably when they perform on Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, making effect on the charts the week after.

I'm not that surprised by the longevity of Riptide, to be honest. That song has been played many times on the radio during the song's chart peak and it's also the official song for Medibank (a health insurance company) commercials, which no doubt helped prolong the chart run.
