  1. Sony is a really dodgy label. Just a few months back, they made the headlines for paying their artists like shit with streaming and sales royalties. With X Factor cases, Samantha Jade (2012 winner) was supposed to have her album released, but that went nowhere (as of now). She released one top ten single and the next two singles which basically were not big hits to Sony's expectations. I know she has legal issues with her old management company, but didn't think it would drag out that long. Dami (2013 winner) released a song, but people weren't too aware of it. Bella (2012 Top 4) released two songs and it's a shame that they didn't make an impact at all (especially Forgot You). However, this is Sony - the label with a history of screwing their artists over (I know other major labels have that stigma too, but Sony really takes the cake here), so it's no surprise that Sony Australia are shady also. If anything X Factor has one leg on The Voice Australia though is that, the alumni from X Factor got some sort of music release. I don't recall any of The Voice winners or finalists releasing anything outside covers. I don't think Universal (The Voice label) are that confident about promoting The Voice contestants beyond the show as well. I only hear of them doing showcases and cover concerts from time to time.
  2. The ONLY song I like from Justice Crew is Everybody. All their other songs are bloody awful, especially that f***ing Best Night and Que Sera. Que Sera is easily one of the worst songs I've heard not only this year but in the last five years. The fact that that song is number 1 for a while really puzzles me. Then again, Australia also has Ricki-Lee and she makes such generic, terrible songs. Raining Diamonds was alright though and Come and Get In Trouble With Me was okay until she acted really extra and desperate in the music video.
  3. Summer has been doing extremely well!!!! Charli XCX is finally getting attention with Boom Clap. Happy is finally below 100m, thank goodness.
  4. Or Maroon 5 with Payphone which was blocked by Gotye and Carly Rae Jepsen in 2012. Though if there is any pattern, Maroon 5 managed to be number 1 for their next single One More Night (9 weeks) and Miley managed a number 1 single on Hot 100 with Wrecking Ball (3 weeks, non-consecutive). So, if Ariana comes with a stronger follow-up, maybe she will be able to do that. Another interesting fact, New Zealand gave Miley her first ever official number 1 with We Can't Stop while Ariana also got her career-first number 1 in NZ with Problem. Fancy also was in the top position in NZ before US Billboard, giving Charli XCX her first number 1 single in that country (when counting featured artist credits), though she did have a number 1 before in other countries for I Love It (also as featured). Iggy managed her two first number 1 singles there back-to-back as featured (Problem) then lead solo (Fancy).
  5. Iggy is still comfortably leading in streams and I think she will continue to have higher AI for a few more weeks. So even if sales slow down, Fancy will still be at number 1 regardless for at least a few more weeks. Happy that Boom Clap is making an impact on Hot 100!!!! Looks like Jlo's First Love has officially tanked since it didn't make past Bubbling Under. I wonder if her latest radio gains would change that, but very doubtful. Tove Lo is doing well in the US also. The biggest surprise would have to be MKTO's Classic making Top 20. I like that song, but it's over a year old now, having already peaked in Top 10/20 in NZ and Australia.
  6. YES at Iggy getting radio number 1 now!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :cheer: :cheer: As for Chandelier, I think the song is dire and dragging. Considering she performed on Ellen a while back, you'd think it would get some kind of a boost. Jennifer Lopez is finally getting bigger updates after being steady for quite sometime now. And, Birthday is finally off the radar now as it's starting to come down. Kinda amusing how Birthday managed a large radio support when the sales and streaming has been virtually sub-par. Maroon 5 is still enjoying the radio deal boost although that really doesn't translate to sales for them. I remember when Taylor Swift released WANEGBT through a radio deal, she managed to debut with a massive 600k+ sales in its first week. In Maroon 5's case, they are number 6, being behind 5SOS, Sam Smith, Magic and Ed Sheeran songs. At this case, it would even be a miracle for them to sell 150k+ in their opening week. As for their Hot 100 debut, would they even manage a Top 20 or 30, if the iTunes sales are continuing at this rate?
  7. Come on Iggy!!!! Get that radio number 1!!!!! She will most likely number 1 on Hot 100 again this week. As for next week, it should be interesting. Surprised at Maroon 5's update debut. Must be some radio deal going on for this week. Big debut update then drastic drop the next before the re-climb. It isn't doing much on iTunes though, only at number 9. Some people at Pulse are now predicting that Problem might not make number 1 on Hot 100 at all now, especially since Rude climbed so much. Sam is also ahead of her in iTunes now.
  8. Horrendous, forgettable song. No wonder why Shakira's world cup song is far better and more popular. (with that being said, Shakira's album version of La La La is much better than the World Cup one)

Grey's is number 5 on 18-49!!!! That is surprising and impressive, given that they finished their tenth season. Despite ABC coming fourth as a network, they have a sizable amount of shows which finished inside the Top 20. Family guy really skews young and towards their finale, they got 2.0 ratings out of a 4m+ total viewers. I'm curious, were season's average measured in Live +7 numbers (ie. including DVR playback) while the last few weeks of May would have been Live + Same Day?
  10. Wow at Summer approaching 100m!!!! Will they finally make Top 10 on Hot 100?
  11. Thrilled that Royksopp and Robyn will debut in the Top 10!!!! As for Mariah, I saw it coming really. It should be interesting how far she will drop-off in sales for the album's second week.
  12. :D :D :D :D :D :D
  13. YAAASSS at Iggy for hitting the number one spot!!! It is one of my favourite songs of 2014!!!! Also great that she has Top 2 songs this week as she is a featured artist on Problem!!!! Both songs were up chart points as well (Fancy up 46% and Problem up 25% - Fancy beat Problem by 28% chart points). Next week should be interesting with Problem video coming out.
  14. 72,000 for the first week.
  15. When Memoirs came out, I literally forgot that it did. Obsessed did alright for Mariah, but her later singles were just nowhere really. Same can be said for E=MC2 era too. Touch My Body did well, but her later singles were forgotten. I think Mariah is at a point where reaching Top 20 in singles is a hit for her. As for her new album, it can go either way. Sam Smith is her album opening week competition.
  16. Hideaway hasn't made an appearance yet, which is quite surprising too. I do start to notice though that NZ charts tend to embrace the on-air/on-sale more so than the other countries. Hence, Ariana debuted at number one being the most recent example. Other than that, whatever song is a hit internationally (ie. Waves and Sigma - which weirdly is credited as "Ultimate Dance" and the song is titled "Nobody to Love, In The Style of Sigma"), NZ quickly picks up on it and charts it. Heck, Tove Lo is number 3 this week!!! Milky Chance just started debuting also.
  17. Milky Chance is number 1 again with Stolen Dance. It's a great song. The sales, however, are shockingly low. Just over 6900 in sales this week!!!! Michael Jackson is number 1 in albums but it has more hopeful sales at 34k. Disclosure & Eliza are number 10 in singles chart but with 2700 sales!!!! What the hell happened in singles? Are fnac and Virgin Music broken? Is iTunes the only working download site? Four songs in Top 20 have rounded sales of 2000!!! People are talking about how the UK might add streaming, but I think France needs to add it on their charts more than the UK does right now. France has Youtube, Dailymotion, wat.tv, Virgin, Deezer, NRJ and many streaming providers. Then again, knowing how long SNEP took to merge download sales to official singles, I won't be hoping for much.
  18. NZ singles charts are always interesting, no matter which way you look at it. It's the first country that Miley had her number 1 single last year with We Can't Stop (her first official number 1 ever). Cheryl's Call My Name managed Top 20 and a Gold certification. Katy Perry slays like crazy there with nine number 1 singles. Random songs gets opportunities at Top 40 a la Bonnie McKee and Andy Grammer. I'm just surprised they haven't started a streaming chart yet.
  19. +5 · The Common Linnets · 'Calm After The Storm' +4 · Sigma · 'Nobody To Love' +3 · Calvin Harris · 'Summer' +2 · Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX · 'Fancy' +1 · Rita Ora · 'I Will Never Let You Down' -1 · Mr. Probz · 'Waves' -2 · Paloma Faith · 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' -3 · Kiesza· 'Hideaway' -4 · Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake · 'Love Never Felt So Good' -5 · John Legend · 'All Of Me'
  20. Now number 1 in NZ singles chart!!!!! Source: http://nztop40.co.nz/
  21. Holy crap!!! Then again, I'm not surprised since French singles chart in general is like the US charts, as there are not much movement and songs stay in the Top 20 for 15-20 weeks on average. Happy also broke record in NZ for having the most weeks at number 1 ever, with 15 weeks. I think the song will fall off the top spot there since Ariana and Iggy's Problem is far ahead on iTunes.

Maybe. Northern Star did extremely well. It is interesting to see that Mel C has been doing better in Germany and Switzerland as her albums consistently reached Top 20 there.

That might be true. Though, Victoria was really keen on releasing This Groove/Let Your Head Go as she loved recording and making music videos for both songs. Achieving number 3 and almost 70k in sales was a pretty good effort, but I think she was starting to transit to fashion by then. When the label went bankrupt, I think it allowed her to pursue fashion even more. In regards to solo Spice, I think Geri has the highest sales out of all of them in the UK. Internationally, I think Mel C is the most successful, especially in Germany and Austria. Mel C's 2005 track First Day of My Life was really huge in Germany and she still tours with her solo materials, even though The Sea (her latest album) didn't sell much. Emma also had a decent run even though I only loved What Took You So Long and Maybe. I think Mel B is more successful as a judge on talent shows than her solo music career overall.

Surprised that This Groove/Let Your Head Go sold really low. Then again, this was around the time when sales were starting to drop dramatically. Gutted that she didn't release anymore but as least she went out with a great double single release.
