  1. Isn't this the 'Beneath Your Beautiful' Video? It has been on YouTube since 5th October, & it has over 3 Million views. bqIxCtEveG8
  2. The 4,300,000 UK Singles Sales, of Girls Aloud, are enough to be about the 36th Best Selling Singles Group.
  3. The Official Top 20 biggest selling groups of all time revealed! 03/11/2012 By Dan Lane To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart, we reveal The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time! In just over a week we’ll be blowing out the candles on a very big birthday cake to celebrate 60th glittering years of the Official Singles Chart. To whet your appetites for the big day, we’ve already revealed the Official Top 10 biggest selling male artists and biggest selling female singles artists of all time, and to today we reveal The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time! The Beatles top the chart with a combined singles sales total of 22.1 million singles. This makes John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr not only the biggest selling group in the history of the Official Singles Chart, but with a 400,000 lead over Elvis Presley, it also the biggest selling act of all time, too. To date The Beatles have enjoyed 31 Top 40 hits (including 17 Official Number 1 singles). Their first hit was Love Me Do which peaked at Number 17 in 1962 (it would eventually climb up to Number 4 in 1982 after being re-issued to celebrate its 20th anniversary). The Beatles' biggest selling track, however, is their fifth single, She Loves You, which peaked at Number 1 in 1963. The UK’s second biggest selling singles group of all time is Queen. The quartet have a combined sales total of 12.8 million singles, and their biggest selling track is of course Bohemian Rhapsody. Taken from the band’s fourth album, 1975’s A Night At The Opera, Bohemian Rhapsody reached the top of the Official Singles Chart on November 2 of that year giving the band their first ever Number 1 single. It would occupy the top spot for nine weeks and sold over a million copies. Following the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in November 1991, Bohemian Rhapsody would return to the top of the Official Singles Chart. In its five week stand, it sold nearly a million copies again, making it the only single to become an Official Christmas Number 1 on two separate occasions and claim the top spot in four different calendar years (1975, 1976, 1991 and 1992). The band’s Greatest Hits album is the UK’s biggest selling album of all time. ABBA are at Number 3 with a combined sales total of 11.3 million copies. The Swedish group, who disbanded in 1982, enjoyed 25 Top 40 hits (including nine Number 1s). Their biggest selling track is 1976’s Dancing Queen. The Top 5 is completed by The Rolling Stones (Number 4) who have a combined sales total of 10.1 million singles, and Oasis (9.079 million combined single sales) who have leapfrogged Take That (9.078 million) to take fifth place. The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time are as follows: ARTIST//COMBINED SALES TOTAL//BIGGEST SELLING SINGLE 1) BEATLES - 22.1 MILLION - SHE LOVES YOU 2) QUEEN - 12.8 MILLION - BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY 3) ABBA - 11.3 MILLION - DANCING QUEEN 4) ROLLING STONES - 10.1 MILLION - (I CAN'T GET NO) SATISFACTION 5) OASIS - 9.079 MILLION - WONDERWALL 6) TAKE THAT - 9.078 MILLION - BACK FOR GOOD 7) SPICE GIRLS - 8.0 MILLION - WANNABE 8) BEE GEES - 7.6 MILLION - HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE 9) U2 - 7.5 MILLION - WITH OR WITHOUT YOU 10) STATUS QUO - 7.2 MILLION - ROCKIN' ALL OVER THE WORLD 11) BOYZONE - 7.1 MILLION - NO MATTER WHAT 12) BLONDIE - 7.037 MILLION - HEART OF GLASS 13) BLACK EYED PEAS - 7.034 MILLION - I GOTTA FEELING 14) BONEY M - 6.859 MILLION - RIVERS OF BABYLON / BROWN GIRL IN THE RING 15) SLADE - 6.856 MILLION - MERRY XMAS EVERYBODY 16) WESTLIFE - 6.830 MILLION - UPTOWN GIRL 17) UB40 - 6.6 MILLION - RED RED WINE 18) MADNESS - 6.15 MILLION - BAGGY TROUSERS 19) POLICE - 6.1 MILLION - DON'T STAND SO CLOSE TO ME 20) WHAM! - 5.9 MILLION - LAST CHRISTMAS / EVERYTHING SHE WANTS © 2012 The Official Charts Company. I too would like to see ABBA's 'Happy New Year' as the Christmas No.1. They almost made it a Single in December 1980, but, changed their minds, when they realised that 'Super Trouper' would still be in numerous Top 10's. I'd have released it anyhow - there is no harm in an Act having 2 Top 10 Hits, at the same time. (After all, John Lennon was about to have 3 Top 10 Hits at the same time).
  5. The OCC have now done an 'Article' about the Book, on their Site. Apparently, all 123 Million Sellers are discussed, in the Book:, http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/c...n-sellers-1666/
  6. Girls Aloud are very big in the UK & Ireland, but they mean little elsewhere. They've had 2 Top 10 Hits in Belgium, & 1 in both Sweden & The Netherlands, & that's it for GA Top 10 Hits outside the British Isles. (None made the Top 5 in those Countries, & they have only ever had Top 10 Albums in the UK & Ireland). Even in the UK, their 20 Top 10 Hits have only been in the Top 10 for 60 Weeks. Which is just an average of 3 Weeks per Top 10 Hit. They are only 74th= in the List of Acts with the most Top 10 Singles Weeks. And their 10 Weeks at No.1 here, (8 with Singles & 2 with Albums), are only enough to make them 129th= in the List of Acts with the most UK Weeks at No.1. (Spice Girls are 14th, with 40 Weeks at No.1 - 22 with Singles, & 18 with Albums). Spice Girls sold far more Records, & made a much bigger International impact.....
  7. Last Week, The OCC announced that Girls Aloud have sold over 4.3 Million Singles, in the UK. The OCC points out that those Sales make them the UK's biggest selling Girl Group of the 21st Century - but, they have not really had a lot of rivals, in that category. LINK:, http://goo.gl/TnsxP I estimate that 4.3 Million is enough for Girls Aloud to be about 70th, in the List of the UK's Best Selling Singles Acts - am I right? It is 3.6 Million less than the Spice Girls, who are in 20th place, with around 7.9 Million UK Singles Sales.
  8. So, Robbie Williams is 11th, & Shakin' Stevens 12th. 11) ROBBIE WILLIAMS - 7.6 Million 12) SHAKIN' STEVENS - 7.3 Million I believe that David Guetta is 13th, but I don't know his Sales. Tom Jones is 14th, with 6,300,000 Singles Sales, & Phil Collins is 15th with 5,850,000 Sales.
  9. Today, The OCC has revealed the UK's Top 10 Best Selling Male Solo Artists - based on their Singles Sales. Their Total Sales are also shown:, LINK:, http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/t...-revealed-1651/
  10. 'Somebody That I Used To Know' has sold approximately 1,262,5000 UK copies, to date - W/E 20th October. 'Call Me Maybe' has sold approximately 1,069,500, to date. The 'Top 100 Singles' Book, from 2002, was so full of mistakes, that I gave up making a Note of them, when I'd found all the errors in the 'write-ups' on Million Sellers 1 to 50, in it. I've never seen so many mistakes in a Book, before.

Leona will certainly be No.1 on Sunday. In my view, she is the best talent to ever come from 'The X Factor'. 'Sugar', on ther Deluxe Edition of 'Glassheart', is the best thing that I've heard from her in a long time. It builds & builds, into an epic finale.
  12. Prince, (1993) , was the last living Artist to have 3 simultaneous Top 10 Albums, with Albums released at the same time. Where all 3 Albums were credited to that Artist. 14. With Jeff Lynne on 3 of the Top 10 Albums, I wondered when it was last achieved by a living Act:, I guess that Prince was the last living Artist to be on 3 Top 10 Albums, in the same Chart - and to have at least one of them credited to them:, PRINCE W/E 25th September 1993 No.4 - THE HITS/THE B-SIDES *** No.5 - THE HITS 1 *** No.6 - THE HITS 2 *** *** = All 3 were New Entries that Week Paul McCartney, & Ringo Starr, also managed it, in September 2009 - but, as part of The Beatles, so none of them were actually credited to them:, THE BEATLES (THE FIRST GROUP TO MANAGE MORE THAN 3) W/E 19th September 2009 No.5 - SERGEANT PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND No.6 - ABBEY ROAD No.7 - REVOLVER No.10 - RUBBER SOUL So, Jeff Lynne is at No.7, No.8, & No.10 - with the No.8 Album being a Solo one, using ELO's name. He's re-recorded 12 of their Tracks, & he does every instrument & vocal, on that Album. So, it is not an ELO 'Hits' Album. It is a Jeff Lynne Solo Album, using the Group's name.

Other Swedish Acts to have UK No.1 Singles, were Europe, with 'The Final Countdown', (1986), & Rednex, with 'Cotton Eye Joe', in 1995. Roxette never had any UK No.1 Singles, despite having more than any Swedish Act in the USA - 4. Their highest placed UK Single was, 'It Must Have Been Love', which was a No.3 Hit, in 1990. I guess that Prince was the last living Artist to be on 3 Top 10 Albums, in the same Chart - and to have at least one of them credited to them:, PRINCE W/E 25th September 1993 No.4 - THE HITS/THE B-SIDES *** No.5 - THE HITS 1 *** No.6 - THE HITS 2 *** *** = All 3 were New Entries that Week Paul McCartney, & Ringo Starr, also managed it, in September 2009 - but, as part of The Beatles, so none of them were actually credited to them:, THE BEATLES (THE FIRST GROUP TO MANAGE MORE THAN 3) W/E 19th September 2009 No.5 - SERGEANT PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND No.6 - ABBEY ROAD No.7 - REVOLVER No.10 - RUBBER SOUL So, Jeff Lynne is at No.7, No.8, & No.10 - with the No.8 Album being a Solo one, using ELO's name. 17. The Media have claimed that 'Live While We're Young' is the highest Hot 100 entry ever, by a UK Act. That is wrong. It is the highest entry by a UK Group. Elton John entered at No.1, with 'Candle In The Wind '97', in 1997. The Elton John Hit sold almost 3,500,000 USA copies, in its first 6 days. So, that shows how wrong the other Media claim is - that the One Direction Single, is the fastest selling USA Hit ever, by a non-USA Act. The 1D Hit sold 341,000 in its first Week - and the Elton John Hit sold 10 times that, in its first 6 days.....
  18. The Immaculate Collection, by Madonna, is in 31st place - as these replies, on The OCC Site, show:, Official UK Charts Hi Nikita Bukin , Madonna's Immaculate Collection is at Number 31 in the UK's all-time biggest selling CDs list. As you will see in the article's notes, the artist totals are based on those CDs that appear in the Top 30 only, not entire career totals. For example the Robbie Williams's figure is the sum of his 3 CDs in the Top 30, not all CDs sold across his career. So yes, Madonna has had some fantastic CD sales here in the UK, she just narrowly missed out on a placing in the all-time best sellers list. Official UK Charts Hi Kristofer Fredriksson, Madonna's Immaculate Collection would be at Number 31 in this list if it extended beyond a Top 30. As Immaculate Collection was released in 1990, a slightly higher proportion of its sales will have been on cassette and vinyl, hence why it is a little lower in this list than people might have expected.

If the Adele Single were by anyone else, it would not be getting such hype & Sales. It is the best Bond Theme in several Years, but, it is hardly in the same league as 'Goldfinger', & at times, it seems to be almost about to turn into 'Diamonds Are Forever'. 'Surrender', the end credits Song, for the 1997 Bond Film, 'Tomorrow Never Dies', was a far more classic Bond Theme. It was sung by KD Lang. It was originally going to be the main Theme, but they gave that to Sheryl Crow, in the end - with a far weaker Theme. 'Surrender' - KD Lang (End Credit Theme from 'Tomorrow Never Dies' - 1997). Miss. Lang's Bond Theme is far more epic than Adele's.....

ABBA Gold has been announced as the UK's Best Selling CD - ever. For more details - of the UK's Top 30 Best Selling CD's, go to this Link:, http://www.officialcharts.com/features/cel...of-the-cd-1616/ The Graph is interactive - just click on it, for details of the Acts etc. Although the Graph says 'Gold' has sold 3,657,687 on CD, & The BPI & The OCC Press Release, says it has sold 4,040,000 - 4,038,000, to be precise. So, 380,313 of its Sales are not in the Graph. (The Press Release Total is the correct one, as it is based on Gold being the first CD to reach 4 Million UK Sales). Ironically, 'Gold' fell out of the Top 200 last Week, for the first time since W/E 26th April 2008. It fell from No.188, in last Weeks Chart - W/E 29th September. I'm not sure if it re-entered the Top 200, in the latest UK Album Chart. VINYL & CASSETTE - The CD News means that either 'Greatest Hits', by Queen, (1981), or 'Sgt Pepper....', by The Beatles, (1967), is the biggest UK Seller, on Vinyl & Cassette. 25. Since the 'Download Era' began, all Chart Lists based on Points are dominated by Hits from the past 5 or 6 Years. That means that Adele, Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Kings Of Leon, & Take That, (from 2006 onwards), will all have more than one Hit, that is very high in this Top 1000. There will be hardly any Hits - at all - from the 1970's, & 1980's, in the final Top 100, in this Top 1000. (Maybe just 10 or 12 Hits from those 2 Decades, in the final Top 100, with a few from the 1990's. The bulk of the final Top 100 will be from 2006 to 2012, & the 1950's - & some from the 1960's). It is the same if you use Points to work out the 'All Time Hits' in The Netherlands, Germany, France, Australia, USA etc. Always Hits from about 2006 onwards dominate the final Top 100.
