The OCC regard the 'Night Train' EP as Keane's 4th No.1 Album, (as do I), because it was No.1 in the UK Album Chart. There has not been a seperate Chart for EP's since 1967. Some people are saying that 'Night Train' should not count as a No.1 Album, because it is an EP. That's like saying that Erasure never had a UK No.1 Single, because their only No.1 in the Singles Chart was an EP. ('ABBA-Esque', in 1992). Had 'Prospekt's March', by Coldplay, been No.1 in the 2008 Album Chart, they would be credited with 6 No.1 Albums - not 5. It only reached No.38, & with their 'Live 2003' LP, only getting to No.46, that same Year, it means that Coldplay cannot be credited with having 5 No.1 Albums in a row. Or No.1's with their first 5 Album Chart Hits. The Beatles got their first 7 Album Chart Hits to No.1, & Robbie Williams & Keane, did so with their first 5 Album Chart Hits. The fact that Keane's 2010 No.1, was an EP, does not alter that fact.....
  2. So, Keane have their 5th UK No.1 Album, from 5 releases. Only 3 Acts have had 5, (or More), No.1 Albums out of their first Album Chart releases. ACTS WITH 5 (OR MORE) No.1 ALBUMS OUT OF 5 (OR MORE) UK RELEASES As far as I can see, (after extensive checking), Keane are only the 3rd Act to manage 5, (or more), UK No.1 Albums, with their first UK releases. And are only the 2nd Group to achieve it. 1) THE BEATLES - They had UK No.1's with their first 7 Albums. (1963 to 1966). The 'Run' was broken by, 'A Collection Of Beatle's Oldies', which 'only' got to No.7, in late 1966. 2) ROBBIE WILLIAMS - His Solo Career began with 5 No.1 Albums, from 1998 to 2002. Although the first, ('Life Thru A Lens'), was a 1997 Album, it did not get to No.1 until 1998. The 'Run' was broken when 'Live At Knebworth' got to No.2, in 2003. 3) KEANE - Their 5 No.1's out of 5 releases, are from 2004 to 2012. Their 4th No.1, was 2010's 'Night Train'. It was really an 8 Track EP, but - it was still a No.1 Hit in the Album Chart. 4) ARCTIC MONKEY's - If their 5th Album is a UK No.1, they too will have had 5 No.1 Albums out of 5 releases. (So far, it is 4 out of 4 - from 2006 to 2011). WHY SO FEW? - Because most Acts do not start their UK Hit Albums with a No.1. Many of those who do manage a No.1, with their 1st Album, do not sustain their popularity long enough, to manage 4 more, from their 2nd to 5th releases. Hence why it is such a rare occurance....

Suedehead2 - In your Chart Commentary, you say that Coldplay have reached No.1 with their first 5 Studio Albums. Whilst this is true, they have not reached No.1 with their first 5 Album Chart Hits. Their 'Live 2003' Album, only reached No.46 in 2008, & their 'Prospekt's March' EP, got no higher than No.38, in 2010. Suedehead2 - I've tried to Sign In/Register to Post about the mistakes that I've found, but, it won't let me Sign In - or Register. Nothing happens each time I try. That's why I asked if anyone here could point out the errors, (that I've found), instead of me.
  5. PLEASE TELL THE CHART STATS OWNER:, 1) If you Click-On the 1970's No.1 Singles, (on his Site), he says that 'Merry Christmas Everybody', by Slade, was the Single with the most Weeks at No.1, in that Decade. He gives it 15 No.1 Weeks - as he also does in the List of 1973/1974 No.1's. It actually spent 5 Weeks at No.1. A 'glich' in his Programe has counted each of its 5 Weeks, 3 times - giving it 15 Weeks at No.1. 2) The real 'Most Weeks At No.1 Singles' of the 1970's, were:, A) 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - Queen (1975/1976) = 9 Weeks at No.1 B) 'Mull Of Kintyre/Girls School' - Wings (1977/1978) = 9 Weeks at No.1 C) 'You're The One That I Want' - John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John (1978) = 9 Weeks at No.1 3) For the 1960's, he says that the 8 No.1 Weeks, of 'Wonderful Land', by The Shadows, were the most Weeks at No.1, for a Single in that Decade. But, it was equal with 2 other 8 Week 1960's No.1's, that he's not mentioned:, A) 'It's Now Or Never' - Elvis Presley - 8 Weeks (1960) B) 'Sugar Sugar' - The Archies - 8 Weeks (1969) I tried to find a way to contact him, but I couldn't, so I'm hoping that someone here can do so.

    SOME CHART TRIVIA (W/E 21st APRIL 2012) 1) We have 2 Canadian Artists, at No.1 & No.2, in the UK Singles Chart, this Week - Carly Rae Jepsen, (No.1), & Justin Bieber, (No.2). It is the first time that it has ever happened - in the UK Singles Chart. 2) It has happened twice before, in the UK Album Chart:, CANADIAN ARTISTS at No.1 & No.2 IN THE UK ALBUM CHART (IN THE SAME WEEK) A) W/E 22nd June 1996 - 18 Til I Die - Bryan Adams - No.1, & Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette - No.2 B) W/E 6th April 2002 - A New Day Has Come - Celine Dion - No.1, & Silver Side Up - Nickelback - No.2 @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ 3) It is also the first time that a Single has reached the UK Top 10 with Boyfriend in any part of the Title. 4) However, by an odd coincidence, almost exactly 5 Years ago, a Canadian Female Artist, was at No.2, with Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne. She was at No.2 on W/E 7th April & W/E 14th April 2007, & at No.3 exactly 5 Years ago - W/E 21st April 2007. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Adele's 21 Album is No.1 for the 7th time, & for the 22nd Week. It is also its 64th Top 10 Week. The only other Artist Album, to return to No.1, (same Chart Run), after so long, is Bridge Over Troubled Water, by Simon & Garfunkel. That returned to No.1, for the 8th time, & 33rd No.1 Week, no less than 82 Weeks into its Chart Run - W/E 11th September 1971. All 82 Weeks had been inside the Top 10. UK ALBUMS WITH 5 - OR MORE - RUNS AT NUMBER 1 (To W/E 21st April 2012) (Total Weeks at No.1 in Brackets) (The Year, (in Brackets), is the Year of release - which is not necessarily the Year in which an Album first Charted) 12 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 THE SOUND OF MUSIC - FILM SOUNDTRACK (1965) - Runs = 1965 - 1968 (70) 11 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 THE KING AND I - FILM SOUNDTRACK (1956) - Runs = 1956 - 1958 (48) 9 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 SOUTH PACIFIC - FILM SOUNDTRACK (1958) - Runs = 1958 - 1961 (115) 8 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER - SIMON & GARFUNKEL (1970) - Runs = 1970 - 1971 (33) 7 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 WEST SIDE STORY - FILM SOUNDTRACK (1962) - Runs = 1962 - 1963 (13) 21 - ADELE (2011) - Runs = 2011 - 2012 (22) 6 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 TALK ON CORNERS - THE CORRS (1997) - Runs = 1998 - 1999 (10) 5 RUNS AT NUMBER 1 THE BLACK AND WHITE MINSTREL SHOW - GEORGE MITCHELL MINSTRELS (1960) - Runs = 1961 - 1962 (9) BEST OF THE SEEKERS - THE SEEKERS (1968) - Runs = 1969 (6) STARS - SIMPLY RED (1991) - Runs = 1991 - 1992 (12) GOLD - ABBA (1992) - Runs = 1992 - 2008 (8) BAT OUT OF HELL II - BACK INTO HELL - MEAT LOAF (1993) - Runs = 1993 (11) SPICE - SPICE GIRLS (1996) - Runs = 1996 - 1997 (15) @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
  8. THE NATION'S FAVOURITE NUMBER 1 SINGLE As it is the 60th Anniversary of the UK Singles Chart, a huge Poll has begun, to find the Country's 'Favourite Number 1 Single'. There have been 1,192 UK No.1 Singles, since November 1952. A 'Panel Of Experts' have made a short-list of 60 of those No.1's. & you can Vote for them. Each Voter can choose 10 of the 60 No.1 Hits. http://www.itv.com/nationsfavouritenumberone/ http://www.mirror.co.uk/lifestyle/going-ou...60-years-794406 http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/t...ne-single-1337/ Later this Year, the results will be revealed in a 3 Part TV Series, on ITV1 & ITV1+1. They might be planning to reveal the order of the entire Top 60, for it to be spread over 3 Shows. AN HONOUR FOR THE BEATLES, ABBA, & MADONNA The Beatles, ABBA, & Madonna, are the only 3 Acts, to have had 2 of their No.1 Hits chosen to be Voted on. The Beatles get 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', (1963), & 'Hey Jude', (1968), & ABBA get 'Dancing Queen', (1976), & 'The Winner Takes It All', (1980). Madonna gets 'Like A Prayer', (1989), & 'Vogue', (1990). So, The Beatles are the only Act with 2 No.1's chosen from the same Decade, & ABBA & Madonna, are the only Acts with 2 No.1's chosen from different Decades.

  10. There is to be a 'New' Global ABBA Compilation in May. The odd thing, that I find, is that neither 'Our Last Summer', nor 'Slipping Through My Fingers', are on it. Both of which many people heard for the first time in the 'Mamma Mia!' Film, & many of them liked those Songs. So, there is still not an ABBA Compilation, that matches the ABBA Songs in the 'Mamma Mia!' Film.....(I'm not fully sure if they match all of the Songs in the Stage Musical - I've never seen it). The Cover Photo was originally made for the 'Dancing Queen' Single, in 1976. http://www.abbasite.com/the-essential-collection/ The Set is to be released in 3 ways:, A) A 2 CD + DVD Edition (Limited Edition. This will only be available for a certain time) B) A 2 CD Edition C) A DVD Edition (In the UK, The OCC will, combine the Sales of A & B, for Album Chart purposes. Presumably, that is how it is done by other Countries Chart Compilers, too). THE ESSENTIAL COLLECTION - ABBA (MAY 2012) What the ABBA Site says about it:, All the hits and more featured on 2 CDs and 1 DVD. May 21, 2012 is the release date for The Essential Collection, a brand new collection of ABBA hits and other classic tracks. The release will come in three different configurations: a double-CD, a DVD, and a Limited Edition package featuring the two CDs, the DVD and an illustrated 28-page booklet. The DVD features all official ABBA promo clips in remastered form, including two previously unreleased videos: ‘Conociéndome, Conociéndote’ and ‘Gracias por la música’ (Spanish versions of ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’ and ‘Thank You For The Music’, respectively). I was going to add my choices - but, I've forgotten them all! :D
  12. Someone said, (elsewhere), that the sound in the background - at the start - sounds like he is, 'Slapping a Whale'.
  13. Well - He's not as attractive as Justin Bieber, (who is?), but, this is going to be a much bigger UK Hit than 'Boyfriend', by Justin. I think that it is a great Pop Track, & I don't go by whether such Tracks are by Boys, Girls, or Groups. I go by how catchy the Song is. 'Can't Say No', will be No.1 here - 'Boyfriend' won't.
  14. WHERE DO YOU THINK THIS WILL CHART? (It is released on April 16th) I heard this the other day, for the first time. I think that it will be a UK No.1. What do you think? Conor Maynard was discovered after he sent numerous clips of himself, to YouTube, singing covers of Hits, & Album Tracks. He is 19, but looks 15 or 16. MTV are backing him, & this Song has loads of hooks, & he has a good voice. (Well I think so, anyhow). It is on the A Playlist at Radio 1. He is English - from Brighton. He's being compared to both Justin Timberlake, & Justin Bieber, but I like this Song, far more than any Hit by those Guys, & certainly more than Mr. Bieber's latest Single, 'Boyfriend', which is nowhere near as catchy as this:, 'CAN'T SAY NO' - CONOR MAYNARD (Notice that in the Club scene, there is a Cartoon Condom on the back wall - with glasses on!).
  15. Apparently, Adele is saying that she has not had time to start writing her 3rd Album, yet. She will certainly not be releasing an Album in 2012. However - she is going to release a Single - brand New Track - later in 2012. There are rumours that she has been chosen to Sing the Theme to the next James Bond Film - 'Skyfall'. The Film is out in October. If it is true, then we can expect the Adele Single to be called 'Skyfall', & to be released in September or in October. We will see.....
  16. 18. Yes, on BBC Radio 2, on Monday 9th April, (4pm to 7pm), Tony Blackburn is counting down the UK's Top 40 Best Selling Albums. (July 1956 to March 2012). It is The OCC's first Top 40 up-date since Mid June 2009 - which went up to the Chart of W/E 20th June 2009. 3 Acts will definitely have 2 Albums in - Queen, The Beatles, & Dido. (Which looks odd now, as she is nowhere near as popular as she was, when she had those 2 Hit Albums). Coldplay may well also have 2 Albums in the Top 40. There will only be 1 Film Soundtrack in the Top 40. Surprisingly it will not be 'South Pacific', 'The Sound Of Music', 'Saturday Nigh Fever', Grease', or 'The Bodyguard. It will be 'Dirty Dancing'.
  19. Adele's '21' has now outsold Dire Straits 'Brothers In Arms' Album, in the UK. So it is now the 6th Best Selling Album in the UK, & the 4th Best Selling Studio Album. To Midnight last Night, its UK Sales were over 4,158,000. It is now just 114,000 Sales behind Michael Jackson's 'Thriller', which is the 5th Best Seller. Drake was not on 'All Of The Lights'. He was going to be on it, but, in the end he wasn't. I've checked this over & over. He was not on that Single. I've even seen an interview, where he is asked if he minded not being included on it, & he said that he was OK about the matter.

The Chart Stats Site misses out loads of old Album Chart Positions. 1) It has 'ABBA Gold' on 503 Top 100 Weeks. It should be 647 Weeks. So, it has 'lost' over 2.5 Years of its Top 100 Weeks - 144 Weeks. 2) It has 'Greatest Hits', by Queen, on 496 Top 100 Weeks. It should be 635 Weeks, so - again - over 2.5 Years are missing. 139 Weeks, in Queen's case.....
  23. From the OCC website: The Official Charts Company can reveal today that Adele’s 21 has overtaken Pink Floyd’s 1973 epic, The Dark Side Of The Moon, in the UK’s all-time biggest selling albums chart. The news comes just three weeks after the London-born singer’s 2011 second album overtook sales of Michael Jackson’s Bad. 21 has now sold over 4,142,000 copies in the UK, making it the seventh biggest-selling album of all-time. However, with just 12,000 sales separating 21 from the Number 6 album, Dire Straits’ 1985 long player Brothers In Arms, Adele could easily overtake the British rockers by the end of this week. "As every week goes by, another record seems to tumble in front of Adele," comments the Official Charts Company's Managing Director, Martin Talbot. "Now, her 21 album has overtaken The Dark Side Of The Moon in the all-time biggest sellers list - and by the end of the week, it may well have overtaken Brothers In Arms, too. Then she will have Michael Jackson's Thriller in her sights. It has been an extraordinary 12 months or so for Adele, and it looks set to become even more extraordinary as the days and weeks go by." The biggest selling albums of all-time Top 10 now stands as follows: 01) GREATEST HITS – QUEEN - 5,864,000 - (1981) 02) SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND – THE BEATLES - 5,045,000 - (1967) 03) GOLD: GREATEST HITS – ABBA - 4,992,000 - (1992) 04) (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? – OASIS - 4,520,000 - (1995) 05) THRILLER - MICHAEL JACKSON - 4,272,000 - (1982) 06) BROTHERS IN ARMS - DIRE STRAITS - 4,154,000 - (1985) 07) 21 – ADELE - 4,142,000 - (2011) 08) THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON - PINK FLOYD - 4,116,000 - (1973) 09) BAD - MICHAEL JACKSON - 3,960,000 - (1987) 10) GREATEST HITS II – QUEEN - 3,888,000 - (1991)
