LEWIS CAPALDI's NEW UK CHART RECORDS... This Week - W/E 12th November Charts - Lewis Capaldi takes 2 UK Chart Records from Ed Sheeran. A).. 'Someone You Loved', (2018), is at No.59 this Week. It is its 96th Consecutive Week, in the UK Top 100. It beats the 95 Consecutive Top 100 Weeks of Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud', (2014). However, all 96 Top 100 Weeks, of 'Someone You Loved' have been in the Top 75. In the matter of 'Thinking Out Loud', 81 Weeks were in the Top 75, with 73 of them Consecutive Top 75 Weeks. B).. Lewis's 1st Album - 'Divinely Inspired, To A Hellish Extent', (2019), reaches 77 Consecutive Top 10 Weeks. That beats the 76 Consecutive Top 10 Weeks of 'Divide'. It means that Lewis is now the Solo Artist, with the 'Most Consecutive Top 10 Weeks', in the UK Album Chart. Only 7 Albums, have had more Consecutive Top 10 Weeks, than the Lewis Capaldi Album. 4 of them are Film Soundtrack Albums. 1 is a Broadway Stage Cast Album. 1 is a BBC TV Cast Album. The only Artist Album, in front of Lewis, is 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', by Simon and Garfunkel. (1970). That Album had 92 Consecutive Top 10 Weeks and a huge 135 Top 10 Weeks over-all... THE 6 SOLO ARTIST ALBUMS WITH THE MOST UK CONSECUTIVE TOP 10 WEEKS 01).. As Ariana Grande has now had her 3rd UK 'Double Top', I've done much work on the Female Solo Acts who have achieved it. Not many have and only a tiny number have done it more than once. THE SOLO FEMALES WHO HAVE HAD THE ‘DOUBLE TOP’ IN THE UK CHARTS Since the UK Album Chart began, on W/E 28th July 1956, only 16 Solo Females have achieved it. The first was not achieved until November 1980 - Barbra Streisand. I’m aware, that the UK Singles Chart, began much earlier than the Albums Chart – W/E 15th November 1952. But, you could not have a UK ‘Double Top’, if the Album Chart had yet to begin. Just 5 of the 16 Solo Females have managed it more than once. Madonna is the only Solo Female – so far – to reach 4 ‘Double Tops’. Adele has spent a massive 37 Weeks, at No.1, in the UK Album Chart, with her 3 No.1 Albums. It is a surprise, (for many People), that she has ‘only’ had 2 No.1 Singles, with 8 No.1 Weeks on top, between them. That’s why she’s ‘only’ had 2 ‘Double Tops’, for a Total of 5 Weeks. That was way back in 2011. Both with the same Single, (‘Someone Like You’), and Album, (‘21’). 08/11/1980 (1) Barbra Streisand - Woman In Love // Guilty 12/07/1986 (3) Madonna - Papa Don't Preach // True Blue 13/06/1987 (1) Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) // Whitney 01/04/1989 (2) Madonna - Like A Prayer // Like A Prayer (Album) 26/02/1994 (3) Mariah Carey - Without You // Music Box 04/02/1995 (5) Celine Dion - Think Twice // The Colour Of My Love 13/10/2001 (2) Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head // Fever 12/07/2003 (3) Beyonce - Crazy In Love // Dangerously In Love 26/11/2005 (2) Madonna - Hung Up // Confessions On A Dancefloor 16/06/2007 (1) Rihanna - Umbrella (Featuring Jay-Z) // Good Girl Gone Bad 24/11/2007 (4) Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love // Spirit 15/03/2008 (2) Duffy - Mercy // Rockferry 10/05/2008 (1) Madonna - 4 Minutes (Featuring Justin Timberlake) // Hard Candy 21/02/2009 (1) Lily Allen - The Fear // It’s Not Me It’s You 11/04/2009 (1) Lady GaGa - Poker Face // The Fame 07/11/2009 (1) Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love // 3 Words 27/03/2010 (1) Lady GaGa - Telephone (Featuring Beyonce) // The Fame 15/01/2011 (1) Rihanna - What’s My Name? They only credit the Single to her, even though she Sings on 27 of the 34 Songs, on the Film Soundtrack Album.

The Suedehead Chart Commentary
As Queen's 'Live Around The World' is their 10th UK No.1 Album and their first since November 1995, I've created 4 Chart Trivia Lists, that reflect that... THE BEATLES -- The OCC give The Beatles 16 No.1 Albums. This is because they regard the Reissue of 'Abbey Road', (2019), as their 16th No.1. They don't count the Reissue of 'Sgt Pepper', (2017), as their 16th No.1. As both Reissues had Bonus Tracks, they were not the same as the 'Sgt Pepper' that was No.1 in 1967 & 1968, and the 'Abbey Road' that was No.1 in 1969 and 1970. I've decided to count them as The Beatles 16th & 17th No.1 Albums. I realise that this is very controversial and that some 'Chart Fans' do not count them as 'New' Beatles No.1's. They say that they are still on 15 No.1 Albums. The OCC also count the Rolling Stones Reissues of 'Exile On Main Street' (2010), and 'Goat's Head Soup', (2020), as 'New' No.1's for that Group, due to both having Tracks, that were not on the original 1972 and 1973 Albums. So, The OCC credits them with 13 No.1 Albums - which is why I've also given them 13. (Again, I'm aware, that giving them 13 No.1 Albums, is controversial and that some 'Chart Fans' do not count the 2010 and 2020 Reissues as 'New' No.1's. They give the Group 11 No.1 Albums). As The OCC count both Rolling Stones Reissues as 'New' No.1's, they really should count the 2017 'Sgt Pepper' as a 17th No.1 for the Beatles - to be consistent... @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ A)… ACTS WITH THE LONGEST ‘SPANS’ OF UK No.1 ALBUMS NOTE -- A ‘Span’ is from the Act’s First No.1 Album Week to their Last No.1 Album Week Years // Months 01)... 60.00 – Elvis Presley – (W/E 10th November 1956 to W/E 3rd November 2016) 02)... 56.05 – The Beatles – (W/E 11th May 1963 to W/E 10th October 2019) 03)... 56.04 – Rolling Stones – (W/E 2nd May 1964 to W/E 17th September 2020) 04)... 55.03 – Bob Dylan – (W/E 17th April 1965 to W/E 2nd July 2020) 05)... 48.04 – Rod Stewart – (W/E 2nd October 1971 to W/E 2nd January 2020) 06)... 44.11 – Queen -- (W/E 27th December 1975 to W/E 15th October 2020) 07)... 44.03 – Paul Simon – (W/E 18th March 1972 to W/E 16th June 2016) 08)... 44.01 – Pink Floyd – (W/E 24th October 1970 to W/E 22nd November 2014) 09)... 42.09 – David Bowie – (W/E 5th May 1973 to W/E 11th February 2016) 10)... 40.05 – Electric Light Orchestra – (W/E 16th June 1979 to W/E 14th November 2019) @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ B)... 50 incredible Official Chart facts about Queen
Regarding The OCC's Friday July 17th Article, about 50 Queen Chart Facts: The Article gives Queen's 'Greatest Hits' 6,370,000 UK Sales. However, in 2006, The OCC allowed 626,000 Sales, to be added to it from 2 other Queen releases. (560,000 - 'The Platinum Collection' - 2000, 66,000 - 'Greatest Hits I & II - 1994). If you remove, those 'Enhanced Sales', it has really sold around 5,744,000. It would still be the UK's Best Selling Album. However, 'ABBA Gold' is 2nd, with an estimated 5,726,000 UK Sales. There are really only about 18,000 UK Sales, between them. (To W/E 23rd July 2020). The OCC never mention, that 626,000 UK Sales, of the 1981 Queen 'Greatest Hits' Album, are from 2 other Queen releases... Note -- For 'ABBA Gold', I'm using the estimated 5,721,000 Sales from this Thread - Sunday July 5th. Then, I've added in a combined Total of 5,000 UK Sales, for these Weeks - W/E 16th July and W/E 23rd July. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...20&start=20 The OCC say that, Queen's 'Greatest Hits II', has sold 4,070,000, in the UK. That makes it the UK's 10th Best Selling Album. If you remove its 'Enhanced Sales', then that 1991 Album has 3,440,000 UK Sales. Which makes it fall to 16th place, in the List of the UK's Top 60 Best Selling Albums... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-..._United_Kingdom The fact, that 'Greatest Hits I' and 'Greatest Hits II', were given 626,000 'Enhanced Sales', (each), in 2006, was confirmed by Alan Jones, in 'Music Week', in September 2009. ('Greatest Hits III' - 1999, was also given 560,000 Sales from 'The Platinum Collection')...

I've compiled 2 Chart Trivia Lists, due to Paul Weller having his 5th UK No.1 Solo Album, with 'On Sunset'. It is only his 5th Week at No.1, in the UK Album Chart - out of 5 No.1's. It does not sound very many. However, The Jam only had 1 UK No.1 Album - 'The Gift' (1982) - and that was No.1 for just 1 Week. No.1 Single & No.1 Album by 1 act in the same week
I've checked if The OCC ever credited 'Shallow' and 'A Star Is Born' as a 3rd UK 'Double Top' for Lady GaGa. They did. On Sunday 28th October 2018, they did an Article announcing Lady GaGa's 3rd Double Top - and Bradley Cooper's 1st. It was written by Justin Myers. He left The OCC last December. Now, The OCC is only crediting the Single to Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper, and not the Album. So, they now give her 2 UK 'Double Top's - not 3. Here is the Article: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/l...mber-1-__24565/

No.1 Single & No.1 Album by 1 act in the same week
The OCC don't regard this as the 3rd Lady GaGa 'Double Top': 01/11/2018 (1) Lady GaGa (& Bradley Cooper) - Shallow // A Star Is Born (Motion Picture Cast Album) They see the Album as just a Soundtrack and don't credit it to Lady GaGa. (Or to Bradley Cooper). Lady GaGa has vocals on 27 of the 34 Tracks. Yet, The OCC do count the 'Grease' Soundtrack as being by Olivia-Newton-John and John Travolta, even though they each only perform on 5 of its 24 Tracks! If The OCC count John & Olivia + 'Grease' as a 'Double Top', then they may as well count the Bee Gees + 'Saturday Night Fever' as a 'Double Top'. The Bee Gees performed 6 of the 17 Tracks on 'Saturday Night Fever', and wrote 8 of them. The Bee Gees and John & Olivia would be back to back 'Double Top's in 1978: 06/05/1978 (1) Bee Gees – Saturday Night Fever (Soundtrack) // Night Fever 07/10/1978 (6) John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John - Grease (Soundtrack) // Summer Nights Yes, Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper are not credited on the Cover of the 'A Star Is Born' Soundtrack, but John & Olivia are not credited on the Cover of the 'Grease' Soundtrack, and The OCC regard it as their Album. I think that The OCC are doing Lady GaGa a disservice. The Bee Gees are not credited on the Cover of 'Saturday Night Fever'. Nor is Madonna, named/credited on the Cover of 'Evita', but The OCC count it towards her 12 UK No.1 Albums...

No.1 Single & No.1 Album by 1 act in the same week
The OCC count Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta, as having the 'Double Top', for 6 Weeks, in 1978. That is with 'Summer Nights' and 'Grease'. If we count that, we may as well also count 6th May 1978, when the Bee Gees were No.1 with 'Night Fever', at the same time as 'Saturday Night Fever'. &&& = As with ‘Grease’, it is up to you if you count this as a ‘Double Top’, for the Bee Gees. The ‘Saturday Night Fever’ Soundtrack has 17 Tracks, The Bee Gees wrote 8 of them and Sang 6 of them. In the UK, it is regarded as a Film Soundtrack, by Various Artists and its 18 No.1 Weeks are not credited to the Bee Gees. In the USA, ‘Billboard’ count it as a Bee Gees Album and they credit them with its 24 No.1 Weeks, in 1978. ‘Billboard’ also credit Whitney Houston, with the 20 No.1 Weeks, from ‘The Bodyguard’ Soundtrack, (1992/1993), even though she only performs 6 of the 13 Tracks. In the UK, that Soundtrack Album, had to go into the Compilation Chart, as it is seen as a Film Soundtrack, by Various Artists, here. It had 11 No.1 Weeks, in that Chart. In the Main Chart, it would have been No.1 for about 9 Weeks. @@@ = Again, it is up to your discretion, whether you regard this as a ‘Double Top’ for John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. There are 24 Tracks on the ‘Grease’ Soundtrack Album, but John & Olivia only Sang 5 Tracks each! Olivia Sang on ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’, ‘Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee (Reprise)’, ‘You’re The One That I Want’ and ‘We Go Together’. John Sang on ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘Sandy’, ‘You’re The One That I Want’, and 'We Go Together’. So, they each, were not on 19 of the 24 'Grease' Tracks – at all. NOTE = Madonna did not Sing on all of the Tracks on the ‘Evita’ Soundtrack, (1996), but it is still counted as being one of her 12 UK No.1 Albums. The 'Evita' Soundtrack has 31 Tracks and Madonna Sang on over 20 of them…

They only get credited to Cliff Richard. If they were also credited to The Shadows, then they would have managed the ‘Double Top’ on 7 occasions, for 13 Weeks. Their 7 ‘Runs’ would put them in 2 place – with Elvis Presley. But, his 22 ‘Double Top’ Weeks, would easily beat their 13 ‘Double Top’ Weeks…

The Suedehead Chart Commentary
NOT SINCE DORIS DAY IN JUNE 1954... I've checked this Chart Trivia over and over again, so I'm certain that it is right. 'Dance Monkey's 9th UK Week at No.1, is the longest' Run', by a Solo Female, with a New Song, since W/E 26th June 1954, when 'Secret Love' was No.1 for its 9th & final Week. That is a 'Gap' of 65 Years and 6 Months... NEW SONGS BY FEMALE SOLO ARTISTS -- THE MOST UK NO.1 WEEKS 01)=SECRET LOVE - DORIS DAY - (1954) - 9 Weeks (Non Consecutive - 1 + 8) 01)=DANCE MONKEY – TONES AND I - (2019) - 9 Weeks 03)=THINK TWICE - CELINE DION - (1994 - No.1 in 1995) - 7 Weeks 03)=BELIEVE - CHER - (1998) - 7 Weeks 03)=BLEEDING LOVE - LEONA LEWIS - (2007) - 7 Weeks A)... If the List included Cover Versions, then this is still the Solo Female 'Most No.1 Weeks' Record Holder: I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU - WHITNEY HOUSTON - (1992) - 10 Weeks NOTE -- However, that was not a New Song. It was written by Dolly Parton, in 1973, and released on Record in March 1974. So the Whitney version was a 1992 Cover... B)... OCC: Songs from movies that became No.1s
'Unchained Melody' is a UK No.1 connected with 2 Films - not one. It was originally in the 1955 Film 'Unchained'. Numerous Artists had UK & USA Hits with it that Year. It was a 1955 No.1 here for Jimmy Young. (3 Weeks). For some reason, The OCC tend not to look very much at 1950's & 1960's UK Chart Feats & Facts. Which is why the earliest No.1's, in their 'Movie No.1's' List, are from 1978...

YTD T40 Albums (with estimated sales)
Guys -- I realise that it can be annoying, that certain 'Hits' and 'Best Of' Albums are seemingly forever in the UK Top 100. However, if you look, they are not just in the Streaming Chart. They also stay in the Download and Physical Album Charts, Week, after Week, after Week. ABBA were doing very well with 'Hits' Albums way before Streaming, which is reflected in their 4 UK No.1 'Hits' Albums - 'Greatest Hits', (1976), 'Greatest Hits Vol.2', (1979 & 1980), 'The Singles - The First Ten Years', (1982), and 'ABBA Gold', (1992, 1999 - 3 times, and 2008). As far as I'm aware, Streaming only became a component of the UK Album Chart in March 2015. Queen, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac, have had big UK 'Hits' Albums for Decades. Long before Streaming was ever heard of. As have The Beatles and Rod Stewart. Also, I always collect Charts so that I can compare those from different Decades. I've just checked and having a lot of 'Hits' Albums in the Top 40 of the Year, is nothing 'New'. I looked at the Top 40 Best Sellers for 1975, 1976 and 1977 and those Year End UK Charts were full of 'Hits' Albums. So, it is not unique that the Top 40 Albums of 2019 has a lot of Compilations in it. It may well be due to Streaming now, but it was down to Physical Sales in past Decades, and the results were often the same - numerous 'Best Of's' in the Year End Top 40... 5 of the Top 10 Albums of 1975 were Compilations. 6 of the UK's Top 10 Albums of 1976 were Compilations. 5 of the Top 10 Albums of 1977 were Compilations. Only 1 of the Top 10 Albums of 2019 is a Compilation - the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' OST. So, this Year has hardly been dominated by 'Hits' Albums, to the extent of many Years in previous Decades...

OCC: ABBA's Gold is the longest running Top 100 album
Bristolmans & DanG -- The continuing UK Chart success of 'ABBA Gold' is not just down to Streaming. It is in the Sales Chart too, and the Downloads and Physical Charts. 'Greatest Hits', (One), by Queen does well in the other UK Charts too, as does Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' and Bob Marley & The Wailers 'Legend'. As a huge ABBA Fan, I'm looking forward to announcing their next 'All Time' UK Chart Record - soon. It depends how long it takes 'ABBA Gold' to get there...The Weeks needed are not too many at all. ABBA's success carries on because Melodies never die. Some Acts have hardly any Melodies and ABBA are full of them... Which is why 'ABBA Gold' is also in the Irish, Swiss, and Austrian Charts every Week, and why it re-enters other Countries Charts, now and then too - such as Germany's...

OCC: ABBA's Gold is the longest running Top 100 album
'ABBA Gold' was not in the Year End Top 100 of 2014. The OCC only published a Top 100 for that Year. However, in 2016, The OCC told me that it was 103rd for 2014, with 70,300 Sales. Here is some UK Sales Data for 'ABBA Gold'. A)... Alan Jones' Total from W/E 3rd October 1992 to W/E 6th September 2008 = 4,312,090 We then just need its Sales from W/E 13th September 2008 to the final Chart of 2008 - W/E 3rd January 2009 (?) It sold 410,119 copies in all of 2008 and was the UK's 19th Best Seller for that Year. B)... 2009 -- 54th for the Year = 248,500 Sales 2010 -- 90th for the Year = 150,900 Sales 2011 -- 130th for the Year = 95,400 Sales 2012 -- 140th for the Year = 81,300 Sales 2013 -- 119th for the Year = 77,250 Sales 2014 -- 103rd for the Year = 70,300 Sales 2015 -- 79th for the Year = 84,000 Sales 2016 -- 72nd for the Year = 88,500 Sales 2017 -- 77th for the Year = 91,000 Sales 2018 -- 20th for the Year = 173,500 Sales C)... 2019 -- To W/E 8th August = 28th for the Year -- 74,750 Sales D)...
