I heard 'Poison' for the first time, today. It is excellent! The 'Ah-Ah' parts, (backing vocals), remind me of 'Voulez-Vous', by ABBA. It just has to get to No.1. It is far better than 'Heroes', & certainly better than Cheryl Cole's 2 No.1's - 'Fight For This Love', & 'Promise This'.
  2. The final Chart of 2010 will be Dated W/E 8th January 2011. The 8th January Chart will be based on Sales from Sunday 26th December to Saturday 1st January 2011. That Chart will be revealed on Sunday 2nd January - and Dated W/E Saturday 8th January.

I loved 'Mercy', etc., but I think that Duffy sounds like Lulu, (on Helium!), on 'Well Well Well'. It was the wrong choice for a lead Single. Her 2nd Album will struggle, (Sales), as a result - unless there are far better Singles on it, for the future.
  4. 'Heroes' is the 5th Song written, (or co-written), by David Bowie, to go to No.1 in the UK. The 4th was 'Let's Dance', way back in April 1983. The current No.1, is the first Bowie Chart Topper, that he isn't performing on. DAVID BOWIE SONGS THAT WERE UK No.1 HITS (Weeks At No.1 In Brackets) 1) SPACE ODDITY - DAVID BOWIE (2 Weeks) (1975) *** 2) ASHES TO ASHES - DAVID BOWIE (2 Weeks) (1980) 3) UNDER PRESSURE - QUEEN & DAVID BOWIE (2 Weeks) (1981) 4) LET’S DANCE - DAVID BOWIE (3 Weeks) (1983) 5) HEROES - X FACTOR FINALISTS 2010 (1 Week) (2010) NOTES *** = Originally a No.5 Hit in 1969 These are the Bowie Songs that he either wrote, or co-wrote. That’s why I’ve not included ‘Dancing In The Street’, his No.1 with Mick Jagger. (4 Weeks - 1985). That was a Cover of a Martha & The Vandellas Tamla Motown Single. (1964).

    It looks like John Lennon, was the last Act, to have 3 UK Top 10 Singles at the same time. W/E 27th December 1980 to W/E 17th January 1981 (4 Weeks) (Just Like) Starting Over - 2 - 2 - 5 - 5 Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - 4 - 4 - 2 - 3 Imagine - 9 - 9 - 1 - 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Then - with a slightly different 3 Hits the next Week:, W/E 24th January 1981 Imagine - 1 Woman - 3 Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - 9 @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ So, the Chart of W/E 24th January 1981, was the last time that the same Act had 3 simultaneous UK Top 10 Singles.

    SKOB - I think that 'Unchained Melody' must hold the record, for the Song that has been a UK Top 10 Hit the most times. It has been to No.1 FOUR times - not 3. 1) Jimmy Young - No.1 (3 Weeks) - 1955 2) Al Hibbler - No.2 - 1955 3) Les Baxter - No.10 - 1955 4) Righteous Brothers - No.1 (4 Weeks) - 1990 5) Robson & Jerome - No.1 (7 Weeks) - 1995 6) Gareth Gates - No.1 (4 Weeks) - 2002

Mr. Lovett. Thank you for being such an example of politeness. Mr. Cowell's 'Music' speaks for itself. One cannot defend the indefensible. Good of you to try, though. :P

'Progress' will be sold for just £1, at Amazon.uk, from Monday 22nd November onwards. 'The Gift', by Susan Boyle, will also be just £1, from Amazon.uk. They will be £1 each, all next Week. Yes - their £1 Amazon.uk Sales WILL count towards the UK Album Chart. It is how much the Retailer pays, for a CD, that counts - not what the Customer pays. As long as Amazon.uk pay the right amount for each CD - which they are - the Sales of those CD's will count towards The OCC Album Chart. (They could sell them for 1p, if they liked - they'd still count towards the UK Album Chart).

Amazon.uk will be selling 'Progress' for just £1, from Monday 22nd November onwards. The 'Deal' will last all next Week, by the looks of things. They are also going to be Selling 'The Gift', by Susan Boyle, for £1. And - yes - the Sales of both £1 Albums, will count towards the UK Album Chart. The OCC go by how much the Retailer pays for a CD - not how much the Customer pays for it. As long as Amazon pay the correct Price, for the CD's, they can sell them for 1p, if they like. I looked at the Reviews of 'Progress' on Amazon.uk. Quite a large percentage of buyers are only giving it 1 or 2 Stars, out of 5. They say that they don't like it, compared to Take That's previous 2 Albums, & that it is more like a Robbie Album, which Take That join in with, on some of the Tracks. Out of the 88 Reviewers, (so far), 40 have given it 5 Stars, 10 - 2 Stars, & 11 - 3 Stars. But - 10 have given it just 2 Stars, & 17 have awarded just 1 Star. That means that 11 people think it is just 'OK', (3 Stars), & 27 Reviewers don't like it at all - and they say they usually love Take That.

  15. 'X Factor' (Beatles Themed Show) - Saturday 20th November. Here are the 'Beatles' Songs that the 8 Acts will Sing:, http://smurl.name/6l2q Notice that 'Hippy Hippy Shake' is suddenly a Beatles Song. They covered in in 1963. It is actually from 1959. The UK best knows it from the Swinging Blue Jeans No.2 Hit. And, 'Imagine' is now a Beatles Song too.

Just as he did with his Elvis Presley one, a few Weeks ago. Cher tends to add a RAP to nearly every Song she 'Sings'. Katie can't 'Sing' either. Wagner - 'Viva Las Vegas/The Wonder Of You' Listen & weep!

The Take That Album does have the UK's 2nd biggest 1st Day Sales, ever.
  18. I hear that UK 'Bookies' are taking 'Bets', on which Beatles Song, will become their 18th UK No.1 first. And, also taking 'Bets' on The Beatles having the Christmas No.1. I don't think either will happen. '1' alone, has sold over 2,700,000, in the UK, & the Songs on 'Sgt Pepper...', have sold 5 Million, on that Album......

The OCC tell me that 'Be Here Now' definitely sold 424,000 UK copies on Day 1, in 1997. (Thursday August 21st). Alan Jones was told 356,000, which he reported in the 30th August 1997, 'Music Week'. However, there was Sales Data missing, & it came in, (to The OCC), later that Week - 68,000 further Sales, giving the Oasis Album 424,000 1st Day Sales. Yesterday, The OCC mistakenly, (at first), used the lower 1997 1st Day Sale, (356,000), which they 'rounded' down to 350,000. They then realised their mistake, & put out a 2nd Press Release, with the 424,000 1st Day Sale in it. Either way, 'Progress', & its 235,000 1st Day Sale, did not beat the Oasis Album. As 'Be Here Now' sold 424,000 on Day 1, the Take That Album sold 189,000 copies less. We will see how well 'Progress' does outside the UK, & Ireland. If it can't sell at least 2 Million outside the British Isles, (UK/Ireland), then we are looking at just about the biggest UK Group ever, who could not achieve close to the same Sales, & Chart placings, elsewhere. I can't think of any other - not a UK Group with 11 No.1 Singles, & about to have their 6th No.1 Album.

Bert for Lashes - I'm aware that the List is for 1st WEEK'S Sales. I was very tired, when I did the Post saying they were 1st Day's Sales. I've now written it as I would have done, had I actually been concentrating. I admit - it was a pretty stupid/silly error, really.
  21. zeus555 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Yes - the List above shows the 1st WEEK'S UK Sales of each of those Albums. Which means that all of the Sales have to be from those Albums 'Debut Weeks'.

I know 2 Guys at The OCC. I told one of them - today - that I'd checked, & 'Be Here Now' sold 420,000 on Day 1. In the meantime, I then saw that they'd already said 350,000 in a Press Release! I think what has happened is that they've double checked both claims, & seen that it really sold just over 424,000 on Day 1. Somehow, Alan Jones was given a 1st Day Total, of 356,000, in 1997. He gave that Total in the W/E 30th August 1997 'Music Week'. It seems, that it should have been 424,000 - 68,000 more. It could be that the 68,000 are Cassette Sales, & they were missed out, when Alan was given the 356,000 Total. I don't know. (I'll try to find out, tomorrow).
  23. It is still 'only' the 2nd biggest 1st Day Album Sale, in the UK. On Thursday 21st August 1997, 'Be Here Now', by Oasis, sold 356,000 UK copies. In its 1st 3 Days, it sold 696,000. So - the 235,000 1st Day Sales of the Take That Album, is still 121,000 less than the Oasis Album sold, on the first Day.
  24. zeus555 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
De Niro - Some sources say 350,000 1st Day Sales for 'Be Here Now'. Others say 420,000 1st Day Sales. I don't know which is correct. However - both beat the 235,000 1st Day Sales of the Take That Album. My point still stands - the Oasis Album still holds that UK Chart Record. (As The OCC told me a few hours ago. Take That now have the 2nd biggest 1st Day Album Sale in the UK).
  25. zeus555 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I've checked - 'Be Here Now' was released on 21st August 1997 - a Thursday. It sold 420,000 UK copies on Day 1, & 696,000 in 3 Days. It sold over 800,000 in its first Week on Sale. The Oasis Album was also a Global Top 5 Album - reaching No.2 in the USA, & an eventual, (estimated), 8 Million Global Sale. So - how many of the 'Be Here Now' Feats is the Take That Album going to beat, or match? Bearing in mind that, (usually), the UK is by far their only real huge Market. Will Robbie being 'back', make them bigger Globally? Or will it not make that much difference? We will see. The UK Media tend to go on as if Take That are the new Beatles - not Globally, they aren't.
