  1. I think the Song is pretty average. However, it will be No.1. There is already huge hype over it. UK Radio will play it to death - as they always do with anything connected with Robbie - no matter how ordinary the Song may sound. It will definitely be No.1. Giving Robbie his 7th No.1 'Solo' Hit, & Gary his 3rd. Take That's next Single will be their 12th UK No.1 - if only due to the hype of Robbie re-joining them. Basically - these Singles will be No.1, irrespective of whether they are any good..... Also - it is a Myth that Robbie's Solo Career is in a mess, & he had to crawl back to Take That. They are bigger than him, (now), in the UK & Ireland - only. He's far bigger than Take That every- where else. (Bar the USA - where neither Act means much). A fact that the UK Media is totally ignorant of. It prefers to pretend that Robbie was in decline, & Take That are huge everywhere.....

Regarding 'I Gotta Feeling' reaching 60 consecutive Top 75 Weeks:, GROUPS (Single - Most Consecutive Chart Weeks) The 2 previous 'Record Holders', by Groups were:, A) 'Chasing Cars' - Snow Patrol (2006) - 48 Weeks B) 'Relax' - Frankie Goes To Hollywood (1984) - 48 Weeks So - when the BEP's Single reached 49 Weeks - 11 Weeks ago - it broke the Chart Record for a Group.

Someone has pointed out to me, that I missed Metallica, out of my List of Heavy Metal Bands With The Most UK No.1 Albums. They've had 3. I've now added them to my original Post.

    As Iron Maiden have their 4th UK No.1 Album, here are some Chart Facts on them:, MOST UK No.1 ALBUMS BY HEAVY METAL BANDS 1) LED ZEPPELIN - 8 2) IRON MAIDEN - 4 3)=DEEP PURPLE - 3 3)=AC/DC - 3 3)=METALLICA - 3 So Iron Maiden become only the 2nd Heavy Metal Band to have more than 3 No.1 Albums - by - finally - getting their 4th. BANDS - LONGEST SPAN OF UK No.1 ALBUMS 1) ROLLING STONES - (1964 - 2010) - 46 Years 2) BEATLES - (1963 - 2000) - 37 Years 3) AC/DC - (1980 - 2010) - 30 Years 4) IRON MAIDEN - (1982 - 2010) - 28 Years @@@ @@@ - Until their 2010 No.1, Iron Maiden's No.1 Albums Span was 'only' 1982 - 1992 - 10 Years - now, they have a 28 Year 'Span', & move up to 4th place - as regards Bands/Groups. BANDS - THE SECOND LONGEST GAP BETWEEN UK No.1 ALBUMS 1) AC/DC - 'BACK IN BLACK' to 'BLACK ICE' - (1980 - 2008) - 28 Years 2) IRON MAIDEN - 'FEAR OF THE DARK' to 'THE FINAL FRONTIER' - (1992 - 2010) - 18 Years BANDS - MOST UK TOP 10 ALBUMS Only counting each Album once. For example, 'Sgt Pepper...', by The Beatles, was No.1 in the 1960's, No.3 in 1987, No.6 in 1992, & No.5 in 2009. It is counted as one Beatles Top 10 Album - not 4. 1) ROLLING STONES - 35 2) BEATLES - 26 3)=QUEEN - 23 3)=IRON MAIDEN - 23 So, Iron Maiden join Queen, in the Top 3, of Groups with the Most UK Top 10 Albums - as well as being the Heavy Metal Group with the most.....

    1) 'I Gotta Feeling', by Black Eyed Peas, is at No.57 in the Chart. It becomes the 1st ever Hit to spend as many as 60 Weeks in a row in the Top 75 - all of them in the Top 60, in this case. The previous 'Record Holders', for the most consecutive Chart Weeks were, 'Release Me' - Engelbert Humperdinck - 56 Weeks (1967 - 1968), & 'Stranger On The Shore' - Mr. Acker Bilk - 55 Weeks (1961 - 1962). They both only had a Top 50 to Chart in - so their Totals would have been higher, had it been a Top 75, in those days. 2) By spending a 3rd Week at No.2 with Eminem, on 'Love The Way You Lie', Rihanna, reaches 13 No.2 Weeks, from her, (so far), 7 No.2 Singles. This is equal with Madonna, who has also spent 13 Weeks at No.2, from her No.2 Hits - although, she's had 12! Only 'Crazy For You' (1991 Remix), managed more than 1 Week at No.2, for her. As regards Female Singers, only Kylie Minogue has spent longer at No.2, (with No.2 Hits), than Madonna, & Rihanna. MOST WEEKS AT No.2 - WITH NUMBER 2 SINGLES (NOT counting any No.2 Positions by rising or falling Number 1 Hits) (NUMBER OF No.2 SINGLES IN BRACKETS) (To W/E 28th August 2010) 1) ELVIS PRESLEY - 27 (8 Weeks from 2005 Re-Issues) (8 No.2’s from 2005 Re-Issues) (17) *** 2) CLIFF RICHARD - 23 (11) 3) KYLIE MINOGUE - 20 (1 Week with Robbie Williams) (1 No.2 with Robbie Williams) (11) 4) PAT BOONE - 17 (4) 5)=SWEET - 13 (5) 5)=MADONNA - 13 (1 Week with Britney Spears) (1 No.2 with Britney Spears) (12) 5)=RIHANNA - 13 (1 Week with T.I., & 3 Weeks with Eminem) (1 No.2 with T.I., & 1 with Eminem) (7) *** = Elvis Presley 'only' has 9 No.2 Singles, if you do not count his 8 2005 No.2 Hits. (After all - they had previously all been to No.1, & are counted in his 21 No.1 Hits. Then again, he had 3 No.1's in 2005 too, & many people count them as his 19th, 20th, & 21st No.1 Hits - even though they were already counted in his 18 No.1 Hits, before 2005).
  6. Matt Aloud - As many Crop Circles are extremely sophisticated in design, & many appear over-night, it is extremely naive to put them all down to being made by 2 Guys with a plank etc. I haven't a clue what makes them, but it is as daft to come up with your simple explanation, as it is to claim that 'Aliens' are making them all. Also - I keep hearing 'facts' about how the Universe is so huge that 'Aliens' would never be able to get here. Illogical nonsense. Firstly it depends how long such 'Aliens' can live, how fast their Craft are, & WHEN they began to explore the Universe. Secondly, they may have found ways to travel through Space that Humanity has no concept of. Thirdly, many people have encountered Beings who claim to be 'Aliens'. To dismiss them all as liars, or deluded, is rather bizarre - many clearly encountered something that we cannot explain. It may not be 'Extraterrestrials'. It may be something that claims to be. For example, Air Ships were seen all over New Zealand in the late 1800's - before Humanity actually invented them. (And over the USA & UK at about the same time). The World is not as straight-forward, & explanable, as far too many people seem to think. There are many things that we cannot explain.
  7. Both ABBA's 'Dancing Queen', & The Archies 'Sugar Sugar', have now reached a UK Million Sale - with Downloads added in. The Archies Hit came out in 1969, but only reached a UK Million Sale earlier this Year. There may actually be 102 to 105 UK Million Sellers by now - so, obviously we will only learn about the ones that make up the Top 100.
  8. Yes it did. In the November 2002, 'All Time Top 100 UK Singles' Chart, it was at No.56 - 1,140,000 Sales. It is estimated that it is now in about 60th place. Whether Radio 2 will play it on Bank Holiday Monday, (30th August), is another matter.
  9. On Bank Holiday Monday, (30th August), BBC Radio 2 will be counting down the UK's Top 100 Million Selling Singles. Based on Sales from November 1952 to W/E 7th August 2010. (The OCC have compiled the Chart, for the BBC). The Sales include Downloads, & this has enabled several old Hits to pass the Million mark. For example 'Sugar Sugar', by The Archies, & 'Dancing Queen', by ABBA. In November 2002 - when the UK's All Time Top 100 Singles were first revealed - 'only' the Top 76 were Million Sellers. Now the entire Top 100 have sold a Million. The Radio 2 Top 100 will be revealed between 10am & 5pm. LINK:, http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/...html#mon_radio2 The BBC Link says that 1 Song is in the Top 100 three times. I guess it is 'Unchained Melody'. The Righteous Brothers version must have reached a Million Sales, due to Downloads. With the Robson & Jerome, (1995), & Gareth Gates, (2002), versions being much higher in the Top 100. The BBC 'blurb' says:, "Across the day all will be revealed: which song features not just twice, but three times; which song has rung up the greatest number of entries; and whether the Gibb brothers feature in the chart as Radio 2 celebrates its Bee Gees Bank Holiday". @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ I'm a bit confused - wouldn't the Song that is in the Top 100 three times, & the Song that has the most entries, be the same Song? The BBC 'blurb' makes it sound like 2 different Stats. As far as I know, the Bee Gees have no UK Million Selling Singles - even with Downloads being added in. EXCEPT for 'Tragedy', by Steps, which was a cover of the Bee Gees self-written 1979 No.1. The Steps Single was released in 1998, and went to No.1 in 1999 - eventually selling a UK MIllion. It was a Double 'A' Side with 'Heartbeat'. ================================ Top 10 remains unchanged, special mention for climbing the "chart" should go to Eye of the Tiger, Angels Three Lions (although they must have included sales of 1998 version) 1 (=) Something About the Way You Look Tonight / Candle in the Wind 1997 - Elton John (1997) 2 (=) Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid 20 (1984) 3 (=) Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen (1975/1991) 4 (=) Mull of Kintyre / Girls' School - Wings (1977) 5 (=) Rivers of Babylon / Brown Girl in the Ring - Boney M (1978) 6 (=) You're the One That I Want - John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John (1978) 7 (=) Relax - Frankie Goes to Hollywood (1984) 8 (=) She Loves You - The Beatles (1963) 9 (=) Unchained Melody / White Cliffs of Dover - Robson & Jerome (1995) 10 (=) Mary's Boy Child ~ Oh My Lord - Boney M (1978) 11 (+1) Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around (1994) 12 (+1) I Just Called to Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder (1984) 13 (-2) Anything Is Possible / Evergreen -Will Young (2002) 14 (+1) Barbie Girl - Aqua (1997) 15 (-1) I Want to Hold Your Hand - The Beatles (1963) 16 (=) Believe - Cher (1998) 17 (+1) (Everything I Do) I Do It for You - Bryan Adams (1991) 18 (+8) Last Christmas / Everything She Wants - Wham! 10. It will be a No.1 Hit. However, I saw their video, & don't think that any of them can really sing very well. The song is rather weak, too. So, they are really going to be successful due to their looks. Such Acts come & go, & make no lasting impact on anything really.....(Brother Beyond, A1, Worlds Apart, 911, etc, etc.).

Here is a Link - to Wikipedia - showing each Year's Best Selling Single, since Mid November 1952 - when the UK Singles Chart began. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-...es_by_year_(UK)
  12. The disadvantage being that Elvis has not been able to record New material since 1977. Every Hit he has, can only be Re-issues or Re-mixes. Every Hit Album that he has, can only be Compilations of his old material. Cliff can do New stuff, & has done since Elvis died. A big advantage.
  13. But, Cliff had 5 1950's Top 10 Hits, too - between 1958 & 1959. So, he's the only Act to have had Top 10 Hits, in every Decade, from the 1950's to 'The Noughties'. Elvis Presley managed Top 10 Hits in the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, & 'The Noughties'. But, he had none in the 1990's. Then again, he had a huge disadvantage - compared to Cliff - he Died in 1977!
  14. Laddergoat, & Bray - Thanks for telling me about Usher. I've added him to my Original Post. Peteseaton - U2 are already in my List. I only wanted to show Acts with 3, (or more), No.1 Decades - which is why I left out Cher, & ABBA etc. Spice Girls had 2 Decades too - 1990's, & 'The Noughties'. As did The Shadows - 1950's No.1's with Cliff Richard, & 1960's ones both alone, & with Cliff. Take That, & Robbie Williams, have 2 Decades of No.1's too - 1990's, & 'The Noughties'. Then there is Michael Jackson - 1980's, & 1990's. The Beatles had 17 No.1's, but all were confined to just one Decade - 1960's.
  15. ACTS WITH UK No.1 SINGLES IN 3 - OR MORE - DECADES 1) CLIFF RICHARD - 5 Decades - (1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s) 2)=ELVIS PRESLEY - 4 Decades - (1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, ‘The Noughties’) 2)=QUEEN - 4 Decades - (1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, ‘The Noughties’) 4)=BEE GEES - 3 Decades - (1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s) 4)=ELTON JOHN - 3 Decades - (1970’s, 1990’s, ‘The Noughties’) 4)=BLONDIE - 3 Decades - (1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s) 4)=MADONNA - 3 Decades - (1980’s, 1990’s, ‘The Noughties’) 4)=U2 - 3 Decades - (1980’s, 1990’s, ‘The Noughties’) 4)=KYLIE MINOGUE - 3 Decades - (1980’s, 1990’s, ‘The Noughties’) 4)=USHER - 3 Decades - (1990's, 'The Noughties', 2010) I’m only counting Acts who are credited on a Hit. Hence, why Paul McCartney is not in the List. His 1960’s No.1’s were in The Beatles. ’Mull Of Kintyre’, (1977), was as part of Wings. He’s only had one Solo No.1 - ‘Pipes Of Peace’, in January 1984. He also had 2 1980’s No.1’s as part of a Duo, & as part of a Multi Act Group. He was also on the original ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’, by Band Aid, in 1984, & on the 2004 re-make, in Band Aid 20. Diana Ross had a No.1 in The Supremes, in 1964 - ‘Baby Love’. They did not become Diana Ross & The Supremes until 1967. In 1974, ‘Baby Love’, was a No.12 Hit, as a Re-issue. It was credited to Diana Ross & The Supremes - but, it wasn’t in 1964, when it went to No.1. So, Diana can only be credited with her 1971 No.1, (‘I’m Still Waiting’) , & her 1986 No.1, (‘Chain Reaction’). She was also on ‘We Are The World’, the 1985 No.1, with the Multi Act Group, USA For Africa. Please let me know if I missed out any Acts.
  16. I've added U2, Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Morrissey, Bon Jovi, & Oasis to my Original Post. Thanks to 2 Guys at UKMIX, for pointing them out. One of them - Woz1234, also pointed out that Tom Jones has had No.1 Albums in 4 Decades, not 3. 'Reload' went to No.1 in both 1999 & 2000. Paul Simon also had No.1 Albums in 4 Decades - his 1960's one - 'Bookends' (1968) - in Simon & Garfunkel.
  17. Thanks for Fleetwood Mac, & AC/DC, Suedehead2..... I've added them to my Original Post.
  18. It has been announced, (by The OCC?), that Kylie Minogue's current No.1 Album makes her the first FEMALE SOLO Act, to have had No.1 Albums in 4 different Decades. As usual, this has been misinterpreted by many 'Media People'. They think it means that Kylie is the first & ONLY Solo Act to achieve the feat. (That no Male Solo Act has ever managed it). Indeed, in some Internet Forums, people think it means that Kylie is the FIRST Act to manage it - that no Group, or Solo Male, ever has done so before. Which is why Gordon 'Misnomer' Smart, has got the Article below, in his Column in 'The Sun' today:, FAB FOUR FOR KYLIE by Gordon Smart "KYLIE MINOGUE has become the first solo artist in UK chart history to have four No1 albums in different decades. It came as a big surprise to me, too. The popstrel has clocked up chart-topping albums in the Eighties, Nineties, Noughties and now this new decade. Her eleventh studio album Aphrodite hit No1 on Sunday, entering the charts 22 years after her first, Kylie, hit the top spot. She also scored a No1 with Kylie's Greatest Hits in 1992 and 2001's Fever". @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ ACTS WITH No.1 UK ALBUMS IN 4 DECADES Here are the Acts who have had No.1 Albums in 4, (or more), different Decades:, 1) ROLLING STONES - 5 Decades - (1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, & 2010) Their 2010 No.1 Album, 'Exile On Main Street', is a Re-master of their 1972 No.1, of course. BUT - it is still a No.1 Album, in a different Decade. 2)=ELVIS PRESLEY - 4 Decades - (1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 'The Noughties') 2)=CLIFF RICHARD - 4 Decades - (1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's) 2=BEATLES - 4 Decades - (1960's, 1970's, 1990's, 2000's) 2)=TOM JONES - 4 Decades - (1960's, 1970's, 1990's, 'The Noughties') 2)=PAUL SIMON - 4 Decades - (1960's, 1970,'s, 1980's, 1990's) 2)=ABBA - 4 Decades - (1970's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's) 2)=KYLIE MINOGUE - 4 Decades - (1980’s, 1990’s, ‘The Noughties’, & 2010) Except for the Rolling Stones, & Paul Simon, ALL of the above Acts have at least 1 'Hits' Album, that is counted towards their 'Decades'. Paul Simon's 1960's No.1 was with Simon & Garfunkel - but, his name is credited. ABBA's 2008 No.1 - 'Gold' - was the same Album as their 1990's No.1, but it was still a No.1 Album in 2 Decades. No-one said that the No.1 Albums have to be different - just the Decades! MADONNA, & BARBRA STREISAND, are the only other 2 Solo Females to have had No.1 Albums, in more than 2 different Decades - 3 Decades each. Barbra, in the 1970's, 1980's, & 'The Noughties'. Madonna in the 1980's, 1990's, & 'The Noughties'. Madonna's next Studio Album, should see her become the 2nd Solo Female to have 4 Decades of No.1 Albums. OTHER ACTS - No.1 ALBUMS IN 3 DECADES Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Queen, Police, Bruce Springsteen, & George Michael, have also had No.1 Albums in 3 different Decades. (PLUS - Fleetwood Mac, & AC/DC - Thanks Suedehead2! And U2 - Thanks - Adyhodges, at UKMIX. And Diana Ross, Morrissey, Bon Jovi, & Oasis - Thanks Woz1234, at UKMIX. Especially thanks to him, for pointing out that Tom Jones & Paul Simon, have had No.1 Albums in 4 Decades - not 3. I'm only counting Acts who are credited by name, which is why I count Diana Ross, but not Paul Weller). NOTE - Do let me know if I've missed out any Acts.

Kylie's No.1 Album, 'Aphrodite', is the first No.1 Album, to be named after a God, since 1975. Aphrodite' was the Ancient Greek Goddess of Love. Her Roman name was Venus. In 1975, Wings went to No.1 twice, (2 'Runs' of 1 Week), with 'Venus And Mars'. The Album was probably named after the Planets, but the Planets were named after the Roman Gods - Mars being the Roman God of War. The Wings Album was the 156th No.1, & 'Aphrodite' is the 902nd, so it has taken 746 No.1 Albums, to see another Album named after a God. NOTE - There was also 'Night Flight To Venus' by Boney M - the 200th No.1 Album. But, I'm only looking at No.1 Albums that soley have the names of Gods in their Titles. Before the Kylie Album, the last No.1 Album to be named after someone from Greek Mythology, was 'Medusa', by Annie Lennox - the 521st No.1, in 1995. Medusa was one of the 3 Gorgon Sisters, who had snakes in her hair, & turned all who looked into her eyes into stone. SINGLES - There have been 1134 No.1 Singles, & only 2 have had Ancient Gods names in their Titles. First there was, 'Diana', by Paul Anka, (1957) - the 63rd No.1. Diana being the Roman Goddess of the Moon & the Hunt. (Greek name, Artemis). The 2nd was the 126th No.1 - 'Kon-Tiki' - The Shadows. (1961). Named after Thor Heyerdahl's Raft, which he sailed from South America, to the South Sea Islands, in 1947. (He was a Norwegian). He named the Raft after Kon-Tiki Viracocha - the Creator God of the Inca Empire of South America - destroyed in the 1500's. (Some say Kon-Tiki was the Incas Sun God, but their Sun God was called Inti). There have been no No.1 Singles called 'Aphrodite', or 'Venus', in the UK. However, Dutch Group, Shocking Blue took 'Venus' to No.8, in 1970, & Bananarama took a Cover of that Song to No.8, in 1986. Both versions were No.1 in the USA. Don Pablo's Animals had a No.4 UK Hit with an up-date of it, in 1990. Frankie Avalon took a different 'Venus', to No.1, in the USA, in 1959. But, it only got to No.16 here in the UK. A UK Cover, by Dickie Valentine, reached No.20, at around the same time. UK ALBUM CHART THE FEMALE SOLO ACTS WITH THE MOST No.1 ALBUMS (To W/E 17th July 2010) (Weeks AT No.1 in Brackets) 1) MADONNA - 11 (29W) 2) BARBRA STREISAND - 6 (19W) 3)=CELINE DION - 5 (18W) 3)=KYLIE MINOGUE - 5 (11W) 5) DIANA ROSS - 4 (16W) @@@ @@@ = Her Total includes 2 as Diana Ross & The Supremes (10W), & 1 as Diana Ross & The Supremes & The Temptations (4W) OTHER BIG SOLO FEMALE CHART ACTS & THEIR UK No.1 ALBUMS Mariah Carey has ‘only’ had 2 UK No.1 Albums, (7W). Britney Spears has had 5 No.1 Singles, but has yet to have a No.1 Album. She’s had 4 No.2 Albums. Whitney Houston has had 2 No.1 Albums (8W). However, some people say that she should be credited with 3. She sang on 6 of the 12 Tracks on ‘The Bodyguard’ Soundtrack (1992). It was not allowed into the main UK Album Chart, but was No.1 for 11 Weeks in the Compilation Chart. For 9 of those Weeks it also outsold the No.1 Album in the main Album Chart. Whitney would have 3 No.1 Albums, & 17 No.1 Weeks, had ‘The Bodyguard’ been allowed into the main Chart - assuming that one regards it as a Whitney Album, to begin with, of course. Norah Jones has had 3 No.1 Albums (7W). As has Eva Cassidy (5W). Kate Bush has had 3 No.1 Albums (6W). She’s the only British Solo Female to have had as many as 3 No.1 Albums. Annie Lennox has been on 5 No.1 Albums, but 3 were in The Eurythmics, (13W), & 2 were Solo (3W). Dido, & Cher, have each had 2 No.1 Albums. Despite’ only’ 2 each, they spent 17 Weeks, & 13 Weeks, respectively, at No.1 - more than Kylie has managed with 5 No.1’s. Alanis Morissette, & Shania Twain, have ‘only’ had 1 No.1 Album each, but those Albums were No.1 for an impressive 11 Weeks. I do believe that Kylie’s one of only 2 Solo Australian Females to have UK No.1 Albums. The other is Natalie Imbruglia, who went to No.1, for 1 Week, in April 2005, with ‘Counting Down The Days’. By coincidence, both Kylie & Natalie became famous via the Australian Soap Opera, ‘Neighbours’. NOTE - Some would argue that Olivia Newton-John is Australian, & she was No.1, (13 Weeks), with the ‘Grease’ Soundtrack, in 1978. However, she was born in Cambridge, in the UK. And, ‘Grease’ was not a Solo Album, anyhow. She’s never been higher than No.8, in the Album Chart, on her own - ‘Olivia’s Greatest Hits Vol.2’. (1982). She reached No.2, (with the Electric Light Orchestra), on the ‘Xanadu’ Soundtrack, in 1980. Kylie's Sister, Dannii, has had 9 Top 10 Hits, to Kylie's 33. She's had 1 No.2 Single, to Kylie's 11. She's never had a No.1 Single - Kylie has had 7. And she's never been higher than No.8 in the Album Chart - which she managed in both 1991 & 2003. 'Kylie', (AKA 'Kylie - The Album'), was the first Album by a Solo Female to reach 2 Million UK Sales. That fact was revealed by Alan Jones, in 1989. It overtook 'True Blue', by Madonna, which had sold about 1,850,000 by the end of 1987 - and about 1,970,000 to date. However,'Whitney', (1987), by Whitney Houston, & 'Tracy Chapman', by Tracy Chapman, (1988), passed the Sales of 'Kylie', in the end. But, she still was the first Solo Female to have a 2 Million Selling UK Album.

22. Dannyboy - I wasn't dismissing your Top 500's. I realise that you put a lot of work into them. It takes a big effort to work out such Lists/Charts. Your No.2's Top 500 was very interesting. As will be your No.1's Top 500. I was just pointing out that such Lists can in no way reflect Sales. I realise that Downloads show which Hits keep on Selling, but Elvis, Cliff, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, ABBA, & Queen etc., would have spent far longer on the Singles Chart, had there been Downloads in the 1950's, 1960's, & 1970's. So, several 2006 to 2010 No.1 Hits - & the Acts who have them - have a big advantage - as will be reflected in the higher Positions in your Top 500 No.1 Hits.
  23. OK - so your Top 500 will be based on the Top 75. I misunderstood. You will find that your No.1's List is dominated by several 1950's Hits, & even more from about 2006 onwards. In the 1950's less Singles were released, so many No.1's stayed in the Top 10 etc. for ages. Since about 2006, Downloads mean that Hits no longer need to be in the Shops, to carry on Charting - which is why so many of them spend a long time in the Top 75. As a result, a No.1's List will make it look like both the 1950's, & the past 5 Years, (or so), have had many of the biggest Hits of all time. This is not the case - but long Chart Runs distort Points Lists. 'Back For Good', by Take That, was a far bigger UK Seller than their 'Patience' & 'Shine' No.1's. But, 'Back For Good', 'only' Charted for 13 Weeks, & 'Patience', (40 Weeks), & 'Shine', (42 Weeks), Charted for far longer - so they will be in your 500 No.1's List, & it is touch & go, if 'Back For Good' will make it at all. I've already seen a List of the 'All Time' UK Hits, based on Points, & it is 100% obvious that Downloads have made many Number 1's, from recent Years, score far more Points, than Million Sellers, from the 1960's, 1970's, & 1980's etc. Points Lists are fun, but they can never replace Sales Lists for accuracy.....
  24. 'Frank', by Amy Winehouse, (2003), spent 110 Weeks in the Top 75, & never got higher than No.13. 'The Slim Shady LP', by Eminem, (1999), never got higher than No.10, & that spent 114 Weeks in the Top 75. So, they must be 2 of the biggest UK Sellers, to never reach the Top 5.
  25. You may as well just base the 500 No.1's Chart on the Top 75. The OCC + Virgin still 'only' use the Top 75 for Chart Facts & Feats, & Statistics. The OCC have the Top 100 Charts on their Site, but they definitely still just use the Top 75 for the Acts with Most Chart Weeks, & Singles, (or Albums), with the Most Chart Weeks. That is what the 'Hit Singles' Book, (November 2010), is based on - the Top 75.There will be no Data in it, for Positions 76 to 100.
