  1. In The OCC 'Feature' about 'ABBA Gold' reaching 900 UK Top 100 Weeks... They have given it 5,450,000 Total UK Sales. https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/a...um-ever__27036/ However, in a 22nd April 'Feature' they gave it 5,580,000 Sales. (Including W/E 25th April Chart). https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/a...-ranked__26063/ So, they have now removed around 130,000 of its Sales. Nor have they added in any of its Sales in the 15 Charts from W/E 2nd May to W/E 8th August. It sells around 2,000 UK copies - often a bit more - every Week. It will sell around 2,000 copies this Week - W/E 15th August Chart. On W/E 6th September 2008 Alan Jones gave it 4,312,090 UK Sales. Does anyone know how many UK copies it sold from W/E 13th September 2008 to the final Week of 2008? Was the last 2008 Chart that of W/E 3rd January 2009? It sold 410,119 UK copies in all of 2008. It was the 19th Best Seller of the Year...

RonnieV -- Thanks for telling me that I'd missed out Nirvana. I've now added it to the List. I've heard that 'Legend' is 2 Weeks too few before. It is very hard to get The OCC to correct things, so I doubt if they will ever give 'Legend' its 2 missing Weeks. I see that on W/E 6th January 1996 they have 'ABBA Gold' at No.80. Other sources say that it was at No.85 that Week...

  7. The OCC 'Best Selling Albums' List is just repeating 'Facts' from past OCC Lists. July 2016 is the real 'Date' for many of the Sales in yesterday's OCC List. They still have 'Greatest Hits 1' by Queen, on 6.1 Million Sales. It actually got its 21st Platinum Award last December - 6,300,000 Sales. Then you have to add in its 2019, (so far), Sales. They keep giving 'ABBA Gold' 5,200,000 UK Sales - no matter how many copies it sells each Year. That got its 18th Platinum Award last December - 5,400,000. Then it needs its 2019 Sales included. Anyhow, I - and others - get its UK Sales to be over 5,700,000, by now. By carefully adding its Yearly UK Sales since 1992. Or you can use Alan Jones Totals for it, in July 2008, and add in its Sales since then. If you do that, you - again - get over 5,700,000 UK Sales for it. Yesterday's OCC Article said that Oasis's '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' is 'approaching' 4,700,000 UK Sales. It actually reached 4,940,000 UK Sales last October, and then you have to add in its Sales since then. So, yesterday's OCC List is way out of date. I don't see why they keep re-publishing it, when they don't up-date the Sales in it... The Wikipedia List is more current. Not fully up-to-date - but far more accurate than The OCC List: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-..._United_Kingdom

Although Eric has done a Table/Graph for U2, he has forgotten to include them in his List of the World's Top 494 Acts. Which is 495 Acts, when U2 are included. Using Eric's Points System, U2 have 8,513 points. That is enough to put them in 11th place - pushing Elton John down to 12th place. I've Emailed Eric about this and he says that he will include U2 ASAP...

Eric has also used a points System, to work out the World's Top 494 Singles Acts - based on the Peaks of their Hit Singles in each Country. Some Acts are rather low in the List, such as Queen, (No.33), Coldplay, (No.39), and Bruce Springsteen, (No.90). This is because they were far bigger as Global Album Chart Acts. They'd be much higher, if it were a List based on the World's Album Charts... THE WORLD'S BIGGEST SINGLES ACTS -- LINK: NOTE -- Eric's Top 494 Acts List is only based on those Acts that he's chosen to work on - so far. There will be some Acts - that he's yet to work on - who would be on the List. http://artisteschartsventes.blogspot.com/p/top-artists.html

Jay1982 -- Thanks for pointing out that I missed one of Kylie's 26 Top 5 Singles. I've now added it in and she is in =6th place with Rihanna. Charis -- A French Guy called Eric has a Worldwide Hit Singles Site. He has made a Table/Graph for each Act, and you can see all of their Hit Singles Peak Positions, in a lot of Countries. You just 'Click-On' the Act on the right hand side, to see all of their Global Hit Singles. In the Graphs he also tells you how many World No.1's they had, and Top 5's, Top 10's etc. He uses the Main/Official Singles Chart for each Country. However, he's used the wrong Singles Chart for Canada. He has 'Dancing Queen' as a No.2 Hit there. In the Main Singles Chart, it was No.1 for 2 Weeks. So ABBA should have 132 Global No.1 Singles, in their Graph - not 131...Beneath each Act's Graph/Table he has put their Hits in more obscure Charts, such as those of: Turkey, Israel, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Portugal, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico etc. LINK: http://artisteschartsventes.blogspot.com/

Just 'Click-On' the Artists on the right-hand side, to see their Global Hit Singles and their Peaks... He uses the wrong Singles Chart for Canada, which is why he says that 'Dancing Queen' reached No.2 there. In the 'Official' Canadian Singles Charts it was a No.1 Hit - for 2 Weeks. So ABBA should have 132 Global No.1 Singles - not 131.

Simon -- My brothers watch 'Pointless'. I do not. I'm glad that I don't. On Friday 8th June 2018, the 2nd Host - Richard Osman - 'Tweeted', that 'ABBA Gold' had spent "22 Years or 1,159 Weeks in the Top 75". He totally misunderstood that they were its Top 200 Weeks!. (He had 'rounded' the Years total up. 1,159 divided by 52 = just over 21.7 Years). It won't even reach 600 Top 75 Weeks until next Week - W/E 7th March. Unfortunately, 426 people Re-Tweeted his grossly inaccurate 'Tweet'. I contacted his Secretary about it, but she just ignored me and Richard Osman's silly 'Tweet' is still there...

ACTS REPLACING THEMSELVES AT No.1 – PLUS – THE No.1 ALBUM If we count The Shadows in 1963, this UK Chart Feat has only been achieved by 4 Acts. It has really been achieved 6 times, as The Shadows managed it 3 times, in 1963. Ariana Grande is the 1st Female to manage it. Madonna came close on W/E 17th August 1985. She had the No.1, (‘Into The Groove’), and No.2, ‘Holiday’), Singles, and she also had the No.2 Album, with ‘Like A Virgin’. Her Album was held at No.2, that Week, by ‘Now That’s What I Call Music 5’. Ariana has the obvious advantage, that Compilation Albums are no longer allowed into the Artist Album Chart. Ariana is the 1st Act since John Lennon to achieve it – February 1981 – 38 Years. Ariana is the 1st living Act to achieve it, since The Beatles, in December 1963 – which is a huge gap of 55 Years and 2 Months! Ariana is also the 1st Act to achieve it with New Entries, in the Singles or Albums Charts. SCOTT -- I was counting Beyonce's Career starting in 1997 with Destiny's Child. That's 22 Years ago. Which may be long enough for Radio One etc. to see her as an 'Old' Act. I personally do not agree with splitting Acts into 'Relevant' and 'Irrelevant'. I think that Music should be judged on merit and not on how young or old the Artist singing it is. Unfortunately, we have Radio One etc., that only really judges an Act on how 'relevant' it is. I regard such a judgement as a joke. I recall Nick Grimshaw, declaring that Robbie Williams was 'irrelevant', in 2012. Based purely on his Career starting in the early 1990's. Nick said that Robbie was 'Too old' for Radio One. Really, DJ's with such a biased mentality should not be on the Radio...
  18. zeus555 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Like Radio One, The BRITS are a bit obsessed with the idea of an Act being 'Relevant'. Therefore, it would not surprise me if Ariana Grande, was the next International Female to get the 'Lifetime Achievement' Award. As regards the next International Male Artist to get it, we may see Justin Bieber or Justin Timberlake get it. Perhaps Drake... The BRITS 'Committee' may just go for Artists who are having Hits in the present day, rather than rewarding Artists who have achieved a lot over several Decades, but are seen as 'Old' or 'Irrelevant' in this Decade... Which would leave out Madonna, Kylie, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Diana Ross, ABBA, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and many other 'Old' International Acts...
  19. zeus555 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
The 'Official' reason why Pink has been given the Award is because The BRITS have opened the 'Outstanding Contribution' Award to International Acts. However, I think that the fact that she has a New Album due, ('Hurts 2B Human'), and Single, ('Walk Me Home'), is why she has been chosen to be the 1st 'International' Female to get it. The BRITS wanted someone big, who would turn up to perform and that is why Pink has been given the Award. Madonna's New material is not ready, and Kylie's New material was last Year. ABBA have spent longer at No.1 in the UK than any Act since The Beatles split, (Post-1970), and they have never even had a BRIT Award. They were nominated for Best International Album at the very 1st Awards in 1977. They were called The Britannia Awards then. As they were the 1st, they were given for all of UK Chart History. ABBA's 'Arrival' lost to 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon & Garfunkel in the Best International Album category. The other 2 Nominees were 'Tapestry' by Carole King and 'Songs In The Key Of Life' by Stevie Wonder. That is the 1st - and last - time that ABBA ever got a BRITS Nomination. Other Acts were given the 'Outstanding Contribution' Award more than once. The Beatles got it in both 1977 and 1983. Robbie Williams, David Bowie and Elton John have been given 'Special' BRITS Awards more than once, to celebrate their Careers. As a contrast, I don't think that Take That have had the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award even once. (Sometimes the Award has been called the 'Lifetime Achievement' Award and it has been called the 'Icon' Award, at other times). Although 2 of U2 were born in the UK, they are regarded as an Irish Group. So, they were the 1st, (and last), Non-UK Group to get the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award, in 2001. Bob Geldof got the Award in 2005, and he too is Irish. Let's face it, he didn't get the Award for his 2 UK No.1's with the Boomtown Rats. He got it for his Charity work with Band Aid and Live Aid... Now that the 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' Award has been given to Pink, we can expect to see it given to other 'International' Acts, in the future. Such as Madonna, Kyle Minogue, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder etc., etc. (I can't see it being given to ABBA, as they will not all turn up tp accept the Award. They certainly will not perform. So, ABBA are probably out of the question, for the Award...).

In case anyone doesn't know - Pink is to get The BRIT Award for 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' Award at The BRITS. She is the first Non-UK Female to get it and the first Solo Female to do so. It means that she has been awarded it, when even Madonna never was...
