  1. Dave, 'Dance Little Lady Dance' was Tina Charles 3rd Solo Hit of 1976, not her 2nd. After 'I Love To Love', she had a No.31 hit with 'Love Me Like A Lover'. I haven't a clue if it Charted in the Radio Luxembourg Chart. (In a Magazine Interview, a few Years back, Tina claimed that 'I Love To Love' sold 29 Million copies Globally! LOL! It wasn't even a USA Hit, & I doubt if it even sold 4 Million copies).
  2. The 'Mother' has no chance of 'redemption', in my view. She watched as the Baby Boy was tortured. She watched as his 2 Year old Sister was raped. (She has admitted these things). No matter how scared you are, you do not watch Babies being tortured & raped, & do nothing except smoke, leave the room, cover your ears, go on The Internet, seeking sex chats on Face Book, & so on. It is well documented that she did those things. She helped hide Baby P's Torture, by covering the wounds on his face with chocolate. She deliberately did that to stop Social Workers seeing that he'd been punched in the face. She is as bad as the 2 'Men' who beat the Child. I'm not a 'Barbarian', but I cannot forgive how she neglected her duties as a Mother, & how - by hiding the Baby's wounds - she made sure that the stupid 'Authorities' would remain clueless - and that the 2 'Men' would carry on terrorising a little Baby Boy, who could hardly talk, could not fight back, had harmed no-one, & must have been in pain, & fear every Second of every Day, for the last few Months of his Life. I'd have rather given my life, than allow such abuse & cruelty to go on - & she just helped to cover up the Baby's wounds. It is well documented what torture that Baby went through - the Media took it from Coroners Reports, what the 3 'People' admitted' in Statements, & what a 15 Year old Girl witnessed, whilst she was staying at the House, as the 'Lover' of the Step Dad's Brother. She admitted that she was too scared to tell the Police what was going on. 15 or not, she SHOULD have told the Police. Too many people are scared by Savages in this Country - scared of doing the right thing. Too many people are so Barbaric, that they no longer even know what the 'right thing' is. Like those Yobs who set a Female Swedish Teacher's hair on fire, on a Train the other day - in THIS Country, & the 2 Boys who held a 5 Year Old Girl down - who has Cancer - the other Day, & tried to set her face on fire with an Aerosol Can, & matches or a lighter. Yes! These things happen in THIS Country - every Day - and the World knows - it can read our 'Papers on The Internet. At least Americans have Sentences to fit these Crimes - we don't! Baby P was so tortured - and so let down by 'The Authorities' - that it is a wonder that all the Stars in the Sky did not turn red - as they wept tears of blood. It was as if all the pain & torture on Earth were visited on one 17 Month Old Baby. I can never, ever forgive his 'Mother', or the 2 'Men' who put him through that. Why should we care if the 'Mother' is 'Redeemed'? She showed no care, or mercy to the Baby - so why should we be 'Civilised', & care a damn, that she becomes a 'Better Person'? Just keep her locked up - and throw away the key. She has given up her right to mix in Society. And the 2 'Men' are 100% evil, cruel, cowardly, worthless, pieces of excrement, & I hope that their Souls suffer for Eternity for what they did to Baby P, & his Sister.....Both 'Men' are Sub-Human Slime......
  3. I've added a 2nd & 3rd Paragraph to my Post -below - so that all can see everything that Baby P went through..... The Mother used to go into the Garden - smoking - while Baby P was being tortured. She said that she could not stand to hear the Baby's screams. She didn't do a thing about any of it. The Step Dad trained his Rottweiler to open its jaws wide, & he'd then put the Baby's head in the Dogs mouth. He then encouraged the Dog to bite down on the Baby's head. The Coroner found the Dog's teeth marks on the Baby's head. Basically the Step Dad was just constantly thinking of new ways to torture the Baby - Baby P - Peter Connolly. So he trained the Rottweiler to attack the Baby. He also sliced off the tips of some of the Baby's fingers - using a Stanley Knife. It is better that these things are known - so that all can see what they did to that Baby. Even though it makes me want to vomit. Even though I see his face when I go to sleep every Night, & feel haunted by his pain, & his fate. A Woman in the USA has very recently been given 99 Years in Jail, for cutting her Baby Boy's genitals off - whilst she was off her head on Drugs. But, the 3 Savages who tortured Baby P, get next to nothing, for what they did to that little Baby. He was 17 Months old when he Died, & he'd been tortured for at least the last 3 to 5 Months of his short life. He never knew love - just torture & pain. Even Satan would not want such vile, Sub-Human creatures in Hell. I want all 3 of them to be cast down so far, that even Satan has to look down, to see where they are - using a telescope. And I hope that if there is an Heaven, that Baby P is being loved & looked after, as if he is the most precious Baby in the entire Universe. I am not Religious, but I can only find comfort in this matter, by the thought that Baby P is in a better place - & that his 3 tormentors have a fate worse than Hell waiting for them, when they die. The Baby was made to do 'Sieg Heils' by his Step Dad - or he got beaten up. If his Step Dad clicked his fingers, the Baby had to get into a pose, where he was sat on the floor with his head touching the ground. He was not allowed to lift his head again until his Step Dad clicked his fingers. He was made to stay in that pose for 20 Minutes at a time - sometimes longer. The Step Dad also lay him on his back, naked, & would punch the Baby in the testicles - over and over. He would sit him on a Computer Chair, & whirl it around - punching the Baby, as it turned. The Baby would fall off, & be put back on the Chair, for more torture. The Baby's ribs were broken, & his finger nails were pulled out with Pliers. His toe nails were also tortured. The Baby would scream & scream & scream, & not one of those 3 'People' gave a damn. His real Father had custody of him, every Weekend or so. The last time the Father saw him, he delivered him back to the 'Mother', & the Baby screamed 'Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!', because he did not want to go back. He knew that as soon as that evil Bitch got him indoors, he'd be beaten & tortured again - and that even his real Father did not seem to care. Baby P would scream - in terror - everytime the Step Dad came into the Room. One of the 2 Brothers in the House, broke the Baby's back. The Coroner said that the Baby had either been put over someones knee, & had his back bent like a twig - or he'd had his back slammed down on something like a Bannister on the Stairs. (So, even had he lived he'd have never been able to walk again). He was finally killed, when one of the 'Men' punched him in the face so hard that one of his teeth was knocked down his throat. He slowly Died - in his Cot - that Night. There was blood over his clothes. Someone had also swung him about - by his Ears - so that one of them was hanging off. I do not like violence, but I cannot bear what they did to that Baby, & I think that all 3 of them deserve to Die - slowly. It is even said that the Step Dad filmed himself torturing the Baby, via his Mobile, & that he's buried the 'phone in some Woods - hoping that no-one ever sees what he filmed. There are not enough tears on Earth to weep enough for Baby P - and not enough pain in the World for the 3 'People' behind it, to endure.

  5. From the 'Bizarre' Page, in today's UK Newspaper, 'The Sun':, (See the Comments beneath his Article). http://smurl.name/9hv6 IS MADONNA A MA-GONER? By Gordon Smart COULD this be the beginning of the end of MADONNA's reign as the Queen Of Pop? The powers that be at Radio 1 have snubbed Madge by failing to playlist her new single Celebration. The track, which sees the pop-skeleton collaborate with dance legend PAUL OAKENFOLD, has not made the A, B or C list for the UK's most popular and influential station. And after some digging through chart history, that's the first time one of her singles has not made the playlist. Madonna can console herself in the knowledge that at least Radio 2 have found a place for the song and have been playing it for the past two weeks. This has been coming for a while. Her Madgesty's last album, Hard Candy, didn't do as well as expected. Probably because it was rubbish. I'm also sick of the sight of her parading around in her undercrackers. On September 29 Madge will release her latest Greatest Hits compilation, also called Celebration. I think I'll celebrate when she finally puts her feet up and calls it a day.

B-rye, you said this was misleading:, 'David Whitfield - "Answer Me" First reached #1 for 1wk Interrupted for 8wks by Frankie Laine with "Answer Me" Returned to #1 for 1wk ^I think this info is misleading though. Frankie spent 8 weeks at #1 after David, and David was joint #1 in one of those 8 weeks. I think'. I don't think it is misleading. David Whitfield's 'Answer Me', reached No.1 in the Chart of W/E 7th November 1953. It was there for 1 Week. Then, 'Answer Me' by Frankie Laine, went to No.1 on W/E 14th November 1953. On W/E 12th December 1953, 'Answer Me', by David Whitfield, returned to No.1 for 1 Week. It was tied at No.1 with the Frankie Laine version - which was on its 5th Week at No.1. (It spent 3 more there). There is nothing misleading about it - the David Whitfield Single returned to No.1. The fact that it was equal No.1, with Frankie Laine, when it did so, does not alter that fact. Also, it was not interupted for 8 Weeks, by the Frankie Laine version. It was for 4 Weeks. The David Whitfield Hit did this, in its 2 Runs at No.1:, 1 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 5 - 1 The Black Eyed Peas will be one of only 3 Acts, to have 2 Singles that returned to No.1. The other 2 are Cliff Richard & The Shadows, in both 1960 & 1963. But, BEP's will be the 1st Act to do it twice in a Calendar Year. The closest any any previous Acts have come to managing it, were in 1953 & 1957. In 1953 Frankie Laine returned to No.1, twice, with 'I Believe', & Guy Mitchell did the same in 1957, with 'Singing The Blues'. But, BEP's are the first Act to manage it with different Singles.....

This is no surprise - Ireland has about 4.2 Million people. The UK has about 61 Million people.....

It is very hard to write a Chart Commentary, & NOT add opinons. I couldn't do it. Suedehead2, I don't mind you expressing your views - at all. After all, it is your Thread. However, Barry Manilow isn't so bad. I like a lot of his Songs. Some of his best ones did nothing in, the UK - 'Weekend In New England', (1976), 'Somewhere In The Night', (1978). 'Can't Smile Without You', (1977), & 'Copacabana', (1978), weren't bad either. He was/is good at his genre of Music - Romantic Songs - mainly slow Ballads. I'm not a Heavy Metal Fan, (for example), but that does not mean that I can't appreciate Groups who do that sort of Music. MOST WEEKS AT NUMBER 1 - UK ALBUMS ACTS Where there is a 'Tie' - as in 9th place - I've put the Acts in the order that they first Charted in the UK - and Michael Jackson first entered the UK Singles Chart, with the Jackson Five, in January 1970 - a Year before Elton John. (To W/E 8th August 2009) 1) THE BEATLES - 174 2) ELVIS PRESLEY - 63 3) ABBA - 57 4) THE ROLLING STONES - 44 5) THE SHADOWS - 42 (Includes 21 Weeks with Cliff Richard) 6) SIMON & GARFUNKEL - 40 7) CLIFF RICHARD - 30 8) THE CARPENTERS - 29 9)=MICHAEL JACKSON - 28 (Including 3 Weeks as Michael Jackson Plus The Jackson Five - In 1983) 9)=ELTON JOHN - 28 9)=MADONNA - 28 9)=ROBBIE WILLIAMS - 28 13) ROD STEWART - 27 14) SIMPLY RED - 26 15) PHIL COLLINS - 25 16) BOB DYLAN - 24 17)=DAVID BOWIE - 22 17)=DIRE STRAITS - 22 19)=QUEEN - 21 19)=TAKE THAT - 21 21) OASIS - 20

Thanks, Thisispop. I'm asking for a very good reason - to do with September. I'll give more details, when I know them. I'll make sure that it is known that you provided the above Data, & that you got it from a Beatles Forum. By the way, (as you have pointed out), the Totals of the Top 3* Albums, are their exact UK Sales, to January 3rd this Year. So, someone must have got those 3 from a Contact at the OCC. (The Virgin 'Hit Albums' Book only gives their 'Rounded' Totals, to that Date). *** = Actually, the Sale for '1' is a little too high. It was on 2,800,463 UK Sales by 3rd January. so, The Beatles Forum has given it just under 5,000 too many Sales, to that date.

THE BEATLES TOP 10 BEST SELLING UK ALBUMS? Does anyone have any idea what the Top 10 Beatles Albums might be - for the UK? The Top 10 over all, (ie. including Compilations), & the Top 10 Studio Albums? I'd be very greatful if anyone could help.....

I estimated 460,000 Sales for it. (Maybe 430,000 to 460,000 using a 'Sliding Scale' method).

Thanks Dave. Several Singles in my Top 100 - the lower half mainly - have estimated Sales. 'Im The Leader Of The Gang' may well have too high a Sale, & 'Blockbuster' may be too low - I don't know. As it is 'my' List, I don't really want to try to replicate the January 1980 'Record Business' Top 100. If we all saw their List, we may not agree with where every Single is in that. These Lists are not an exact science. In the Year End 1978 Chart, 'Night Fever' was 6th for the Year, & 'The Smurf Song', (yeuk!), was 5th. That was the BMRB List for 1978, of course. But, the Bee Gees Single is lower in both my Top 100 of the 1970's, & in the BMRB's. Robbie, we cannot really gauge if a Single sold enough to go Gold or Silver, by whether or not it has a BPI Sales Award. 'Waterloo' by ABBA, sold over 300,000 in 1974, & it never did get Awarded a Silver Disk. (The 'Waterloo' Album got one - for over 60,000 Sales - but not the Single). And, in 1980, 'The Winner Takes It All', by ABBA, sold around 565,000 & that never got a Silver, (250,000+), or Gold, (500,000+), Disk. It was up to Epic Records to apply for them, & it never got around to doing so for those 1974 & 1980 ABBA No.1's.....So, Evelyn 'Champagne' King, & her 'Shame' Hit, could well have sold over 250,000. It spent 23 Weeks on the Chart, despite getting no higher than No.39. Had the 'Top Singles Of 1978', been decided on by Weeks On Chart, it would have been about the 4th Biggest Single of that Year..... :o

Dave, wasn't the 1970's Best Selling Singles Chart, (January 1st 1980/Capital Radio), the Top 40 for the Decade, rather than the Top 100? You said that Alan Freeman said that 12 Singles in the Chart were from 1970 to 1974, & the other 28 were from 1975 to 1979 - that makes it a Top 40. 'My' 1970's Top 40 also has 12 Singles in it from 1970 to 1974, & that makes the other 28 from 1975 to 1979. And the BMRB 1970's Top 40 has 11 Singles from 1970 to 1974 in it, & the other 29 from 1975 to 1979.

The OCC told me recently, that by the end of June, 'Dancing Queen' had sold 85,000 on Download in the UK. That Alan Jones estimates 920,000 Sales for it, (1976 + 1992), & added to the Downloads, that makes 1,005,000 Sales - so far. Although some say that it had sold 935,000 to 940,000 in 1976 & 1992, & as many as 120,000 on Download, which would be 1,055,000 to 1,060,000 Sales.
  16. Well, JLS think The Beatles were a Boy Band! They also said - Interview in the UK Press - that they'd like to sell half as many Records as The Beatles! ('To dream, the impossible dream.....')

Suedehead2 - It is Michael Jackson's 26th Week at No.1, in the UK Album Chart. He was on 22 No.1 Weeks by W/E 3rd January. In the past 4 Weeks he's been No.1 with Number Ones' - 1 Week, & 'The Essential' - 3 Weeks. 26 No.1 Weeks makes him 13th= - with Simply Red - in the 'Most UK No.1 Album Weeks' List..... By the way - the New Seekers Album is only their 3rd to reach the Top 20, in their Chart Career. Their first Top 20 Album was in 1972, & their 2nd was way back in March 1974 - a few Weeks before ABBA hit the Singles Chart, with 'Waterloo'.....

THE UK's TOP 100 BEST SELLING SINGLES OF THE 1970's NOTE - I've long since realised that this Top 100 is not very accurate, as regards several of the Hits in it. I over-estimated the Sales of T. Rex Hits, for a start. Unfortunately someone took this Top 100 & added it to Wikipedia, as their Page on the UK's Best Selling Singles of the 1970's. I had nothing to do with this, (inaccurate), Top 100 being added to Wikipedia. Nor do I know who added it. I did not even know that this Top 100 was on Wikipedia until an extremely rude fellow was very nasty towards me about it on the Haven Chart Site. I had long since forgotten about this Top 100, when I realised that it was not good enough. So, I denied that the Wikipedia List was anything to do with me. Not because I was lying, but because I truly had forgotten all about it. (I've since come up with 1970's Top 100's that are far better). (As compiled by me - using Sales Data gathered by I, & several other Guys in recent Years) *** = Indicates a Hit that was not a No.1. They are mainly No.2 Hits - unless otherwise stated Some of these Singles were Re-Issued Hits - after the 1970's. I've only counted their 1970's Sales. This includes the the 1979 Sales of No.54 - 'Another Brick In The Wall', by Pink Floyd. It has sold about 995,000 altogether, but about 230,000 of them were in 1980. 19. 'Dancing Queen's Sales are far too low. I know someone at The OCC. He told me only last Week, that 'Dancing Queen' has sold about 920,000 on Vinyl, (1976), & CD, (1992). Those are Alan Jones estimates. (I estimate more like 940,000 for it). Anyhow, you have to add in the 85,000, that it has sold on Download, in recent Years. That gives it 1,005,000 Sales - by Alan's estimates - and a No.71 place in the Top 100. So the ABBA Single is 26 places too low. (It would be No.65 in the List, by my estimates - but, Alan's will do). NOTE - IF there is a 2010 Virgin 'Hit Singles' Book, it is almost certain that it will have an up-date of the Top 100 Best Selling Singles in it.

The 6 Albums that took the longest to Peak are:, 1) 'OFF THE WALL' - MICHAEL JACKSON - No.5 in October 1979 - Peaked at No.3, in the Chart of W/E 18th July 2009. It has taken it 29 Years, & 9 Months to reach its Peak. (In its 3rd Year & 9th Month on the actual Chart). 2) 'THE STONE ROSES' - THE STONE ROSES - This was released in May 1989, & first Charted on W/E 13th May, that Year. It did not Peak until W/E 10th July 2004 - in its 87th Chart Week. It Peaked at No.9 that Week. This was 15 Years & 2 Months after its release - making it 2nd only to 'Off the Wall', as the Album that took the longest to Peak in the UK. 3) 'THE ESSENTIAL' - MICHAEL JACKSON - No.2 in the Chart of W/E 30th July 2005. It Peaked at No.1, in the Chart of W/E 11th July 2009 - just under 4 Years later. 4)='My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows' - Tyrannosaurus Rex . Released in July 1968, this initially reached No.15, in the Chart of W/E 24th July 1968. In 1972, it was re-released as a Double Album - with their 2nd Album - and it reached No.1, in the Chart of W/E 6th May 1972 - 3 Years & 10 Months later. 4)= 'BAT OUT OF HELL', by MEAT LOAF. It Entered the Chart on W/E 11th March 1978, & it did not reach its Peak - No.9 - until W/E 23rd August 1981 - 176 Chart Weeks later. So, it reached No.9 in its 3rd Year, & 5th Month on the Chart. The Album was released on October 21st 1977 - so time-wise, it took 3 Years & 10 Months to reach its Peak. 6) 'Prophets, Seers & Sages – The Angels of the Ages' - Tyrannosaurus Rex. This was released in October 1968, & it failed to Chart. In May 1972, it went to No.1, when re-issued, as a Double Album, with the Tyrannosaurus Rex Album at 4). . So, it took 3 Years & 7 Months to reach its Peak.

Vidcapper, 'Off The Wall' is now - 'Officially' - the Album that took the longest to reach its Peak. It Peaked at No.5, in its 5th Chart Week:, 29/09/1979 - 25-26-11- 10-*5* Before MJ died, it had spent 189 Weeks on the Chart. It is now up to 192 Weeks, & in that 192nd Week, it has reached a New Peak - No.3. Until now, the Album that took longest to reach its Peak, was 'Bat Out Of Hell', by Meat Loaf. That Entered the Chart on W/E 11th March 1978, & it did not reach its Peak - No.9 - until W/E 23rd August 1981 - 176 Chart Weeks later. If we just go by time - rather than whether an Album was on the Chart - then, 'Off The Wall' has taken almost 30 Years to reach its Peak, & the Meat Loaf Album only took 3 Years, 5 Months, & 2 Weeks, to reach its Peak.....

Suedehead2, the Benny Andersson Band Album is not a Solo Album. He has Helen Sjoholm, & Tommy Korberg - plus several other people, with him. In Sweden, they are called Benny Andersson's Orkester, & they've had 4 Hit Albums in Swedish. Benny & Bjorn have written loads of stuff in recent Years, it's just that the UK only notices him/them, when such things get released here - in English. As regards Michael Jackson, he sets 2 UK Album records this Week:, 1) Last Week, he became the first Act to have more than 3 Albums in the Top 10, at the same time. He had 5 in. This Week, he beats that - 6 in. 2) Before him, 10 Acts had 3 Albums in the Top 10 at once - the last 3 were David Bowie, (6 Weeks in 1973), Elvis Presley - 1 Week in 1977, & Prince - 1 Week in 1993. 3) MJ also has 9 Albums in the Top 20 - beating the W/E 26th September 1964 Record of Jim Reeves - 8 Top 20 Albums.
  24. ELVIS PRESLEY (W/E 26th October 1957) He had 5 Top 20 Hits. 'Got A Lot O' Livin' To Do' was the 'B' Side of 'Party', but it should still count. MJ has the advantage of being able to Chart every Song that he ever released - as Downloads. No.2 - PARTY No.9 - TEDDY BEAR [Also called (LET ME BE YOUR) TEDDY BEAR] No.16 - ALL SHOOK UP No.20=GOT A LOT O’ LIVIN’ TO DO No.20=PARALYSED And Elvis, MJ, & John Lennon, have not had 4 simultaneous Top 10 Hits:, FRANKIE LAINE (W/E 7th November 1953) No.2 - ANSWER ME No.3 - HEY JOE No.5 - I BELIEVE No.7 - WHERE THE WIND BLOWS FRANKIE LAINE (W/E 14th November 1953) No.1 - ANSWER ME No.4 - HEY JOE No.7 - I BELIEVE No.9 - WHERE THE WIND BLOWS JOHN LENNON (W/E 24th January 1981) No.1 - IMAGINE No.3 - WOMAN No.9 - HAPPY XMAS (WAR IS OVER) No.15 - (JUST LIKE) STARTING OVER

The new Album's Book is fine - far, far better than the 2008 Singles Book. It Lists all the No.1's - as well as having several Facts & Feats Lists. Sales Lists are in it too - The Top 100 Studio Albums, The Top 40 Artist 'Hits' Albums, & The Top 5 Film Soundtracks. All 145 Albums have their 'Rounded' UK Sales Totals shown - to the Chart of W/E 3rd January this Year. :D It also contains a List of all No.1's in the Compilation Chart, since January 1989. Plus details of their Peak Positions, & Weeks On Chart. The same for Film Soundtracks, & Stage Cast Albums. If you can't get the Book in Shops, simply go to Amazon.uk, & get it from there. It is Discounted there, anyhow.....
