If A MJ Song goes to No.1 - that has been No.1 before - it WILL count as the 1,100th No.1 Single. (If that is when it happens). You should look at how it has worked before:, The OCC, Everyhit.com, & UK Chart Books clearly have:, ELVIS PRESLEY 1) 'Jailhouse Rock' as the 67th No.1 in 1958, & the 999th in 2005 2) 'One Night' as the 80th No.1 in 1959, & the 1000th in 2005 3) 'It's Now Or Never' as the 109th No.1 in 1960, & the 1002nd in 2005 GEORGE HARRISON 4) 'My Sweet Lord' as the 296th No.1 in 1971, & the 918th in 2002 So, any Singles, that re-enter the Charts - Years later - and get back to No.1, are given a Number. Which means they are recognised as a new No.1. It does not matter if some people don't agree with that - it is how it is done.
  2. Here is a Link to an Article, in the UK 'Paper 'The Telegraph', regarding MJ's Top 6 Best Selling Albums - Global Totals. As you can see, the Media are simply going to Wikipedia, & copying from there, that 'Thriller' has sold 109 Million - which is a hugely inflated figure. And 'HIStory' is given 40 Million Sales, because it sold 20 Million, & they increase that by 20 Million more, because it was a Double Album. http://smurl.name/83rp
  3. Whatever happens in today's UK Charts - Singles & Albums - the main thing to keep in mind, is that it will be based on 2 Days Sales - Friday & Saturday. It is next Sunday's Chart - 5th July - which will show the most impact, as that will have Sunday 28th June to Saturday 4th July Sales in it - a full Week.
  4. Here is what is now being predicted for the UK Charts - an Article from 'The Times:, http://smurl.name/c78w
  5. The OCC have said that 'Billie Jean', 'Thriller', & 'Man In The Mirror', are Selling well enough to Chart again - to name but 3 Songs. (I guess The OCC mean in tomorrow's Chart).
  6. As ALL of his Hits are Selling once again - as Downloads - there is no point - at this stage - in trying to work out how many his Hits sold in the 1980's. I know someone at The OCC. I'll ask him if The OCC will compile Michael's Top 30, (or Top 50), UK Best Selling Singles/Songs, for the UK Media/Chart Fans. It may be best for any such List to be compiled later in 2009 - when the current level of his Downloads have had time to drop a bit. So that the bulk of his Downloads - June, July, & August, can be added in.....
  7. But - it could carry on for even longer. We could see a 'Tribute Concert', later in 2009 - or sometime in 2010. That will 'kick-start' MJ Sales again.....
  8. 'Number Ones' was originally a UK Chart Topper, in the Chart of W/E 29th November 2003. So, its return to No.1 - for the Chart of W/E 4th July - will be a 'Gap' of just over 5 Years & 7 Months. I believe that it is the 3rd biggest 'Gap' ever, between an Album first being at No.1, & returning to No.1. The 2 biggest 'Gaps' are held by 'Gold' - ABBA. October 1992 to April 1999 - 6 Years & 6 Months. Also - May 1999 to August 2008 - 9 Years & 3 Months. When 'Number Ones' returns to the Top tomorrow, it will be Michael's 23rd Week at No.1, in the UK Album Chart.

I know 2 of the Guys behind the Book. I'll let them know that we'd like the Symbols back - that instantly showed the Top 10 Hits, & No.1 Hits. We can see if they will be re-started, for the 2010 Singles Book, & the 2011 Album Book.

The 2010 'British Hit Singles' Book will be far, far better than the 2008 Singles Book. I know that for a fact. I know someone at The OCC. He's told me that they plan to include far more in it than was in the 2008 Book. They realise that the Singles Book was regarded as not very impressive. Hopefully the 2nd Singles Book will be Published in 2010 - Virgin are waiting to see if the new 'Hit Albums' Book sells well.....(So - I for one - am hoping that 'Chart Fans' are not put off buying the Album Book, just because the 2008 Singles Book was pretty disappointing.....).
  11. Madonna? I've never heard of her! Is it her who sang, 'Mama Don't Screech', 'Young Pup', & 'Rogue'? Like I said - never heard of the Woman! Was she in that Musical - 'Ryvita'?

The full - 5 Minute English version of 'Story Of A Heart' is now available to listen to. Just 'Click On' the Link under the Helen Sjoholm Paragraph. http://www.kristinathemusical.com/company.htm
  13. Here is an ABBA Tribute Song, from The Swedish Male/Female Group - The Airwaves. They have cleverly created a brand New Song, by making much of the Lyrics from ABBA Song Titles! It is a sort of Pop-Rock Song, & I think it is terrific. (Michael B. Tretow likes it too, apparently). The Instrumental 'Riff', that you can hear throughout the Song, is copied from the 1979 UK No.1, by Gary Numan - 'Cars'. 14. Apparently, The OCC & Virgin considered basing the Book on the Top 75, but they decided not to, in the end. The Price would have had to go up - considerably - at Retail - and they worried that this would put many people off buying it. So, if they could only be sure that we'd still have bought it, it would have had Top 75's in it.

Here is the Swedish version of 'Story Of A Heart', on YouTube. Apparently, 'Sommaren Du Fick' means, 'The Summer I Had' - or 'The Summer I Got'. HOWEVER, in GERMAN, I'm pretty sure that 'Fick' means something rather 'rude'! THE LINK - TO THE SWEDISH VERSION The Swedish Single is the longer version - than the Edited one, that has been on UK Radio, in English. Notice at 3.10, that the Song has a very pretty, & slow 'Bridge' in it - that is NOT in the UK Radio version. However, I believe that the longer version - in English - is on the Album, outside Sweden - with only Sweden getting the Swedish version as a Bonus Track. Giving it 15 Tracks - to 14, for the Album outside Sweden. UK AIRPLAY - Radio 2 has added the Edited English version to its Playlist - its 'A' List. So, they like it - but, Radio One does not have it on even its 'C' List..... SINGLE RELEASE - I hear that 'Story Of A Heart' will NOT be a UK, (or Irish etc.), Single. It is just meant to promote the Album, on UK Radio. Anyhow, a Track need no longer be a Single - in UK Stores - to be a Hit. If enough people Download 'Story Of A Heart', as a Track from the Album, then it will get into the Singles Chart.
  16. The OCC, (& others), have finished Proof Reading the 'Virgin Top 40 Charts' Book. It will be out in November. It has every Singles Top 40 in it - from March 1960 to 2009 - so, it looks like some Top 40's from this Year are in it. There are no 1950's Charts in it, so 'New Musical Express' has, (obviously), refused to let them include its Charts, from Mid November 1952, to March 1960. Here is a Link - to show the Cover. The Book has 544 Pages. THE LINK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Top-40-Charts/dp/0...9199&sr=1-1

The OCC - and UK Chart Books - regard the UK Album Chart as having started on the W/E 28th July 1956. The 'Melody Maker' Charts are used from that period. And, I think that the 'Record Retailer' Album Charts are used from March 1960 onwards - W/E March 10th, I think it was. So - UK Album Chart Data, & Statistics, go back to July 1956.

Yes, The OCC add the Sales of the 'Deluxe' 'Back To Black', to those of the Original version. They do the same for 'Rockferry' by Duffy', & 'Spirit' by Leona Lewis. So, they regard 'Spirit' being No.1 in both November 2007, & November 2008, as the SAME Album being No.1. They don't give the November 2008 No.1 a Number - they call it a 'Re', (Return), to No.1. However, they have given the 'Deluxe' 'Black To Black', the status of the 798th No.1, in 2007, & the 836th No.1, ('Deluxe' version), in 2008. This is despite them combining the Sales of the 2 versions. Someone suggested, to me, that they are treating the 2 versions of 'Back To Black', as 2 different No.1 Albums, because both versions were in the Top 75 at the same time - so they were taking up 2 sets of Chart places, in the same Album Charts. And, 'Gold', by ABBA, is given the status of the 461st No.1 Album in 1992, but, also the 849th No.1 in 2008. This is wrong - the only difference between the 2 versions was the Cover & Sleevenotes - the 19 Tracks are the same. So, 'Gold' going back to No.1 in 2008, should be a 'Re' - not given 849th No.1 Album status.....(In 1999, The OCC - correctly - regarded the 3 times that 'Gold' got to No.1 that Year, as 'Re' - and it was not Numbered).
  19. In my Top 300 Singles of the 1980's, I have the Top 246 selling 400,000 - or more - copies. Other people - who estimated, (mainly), the Top 300 of the 1980's, may well decide that more than 246 Singles sold 400,000, or more. Then again - they may decide that less than 246 Singles managed it.
  20. That's very useful information, Ethan. Thank you very much!
  21. Does anyone have an up-dated List of the:, 1) Biggest Jumps to No.1, in the UK Album Chart? 2) And the biggest Falls from No.1? Thanks. :)

But, 'One Night' had been a much bigger Hit in 1959, & had sold many, many copies on Elvis Compilations, over the Decades. So, its 2005 Chart Run - as the 1,000th No.1 - is not so surprising. It would have been truly awful had it been a New Single - but, not for a huge Selling 'Oldie'. Its 1959 Chart Run:, 3-1-1-1-2-4-7-11-16-15-21-24
  23. I get 'Frankie' on 715,000 Estimated Sales, & 'Chain Reaction' on 705,000 - its 1986 Sales. 'Chain Reaction' was also No.20, (for 3 Weeks), as a 1993 Re-issue.
  24. 'Arrival' - ABBA - Over 1,650,000 sold (1976 - 1978) 'Dancing Queen' - Over 850,000 sold in 1976. (Almost 1 Million by 2009) 'Money Money Money' - Over 440,000 to 460,000 sold between 1976/1977 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' - Over 770,000 sold in 1977

And the Eminem Album is the 870th No.1 Album - not the 871st. Both Everyhit.com & The OCC Site have Eminem as the 871st. Both are wrong. Both have made the error for different reasons..... 1) Everyhit counts the 2008 'Deluxe' version of 'Spirit' as the 859th No.1 Album. It should be a 'Re' at No.1. The OCC counts it as the same Album as the 2007 version - and calls it a 'Re' at No.1. 2) The OCC mistakenly called 'Gold' by ABBA, the 849th No.1 Album, in 2008. It should be a 'Re' at No.1. It was the 461st No.1 Album in 1992. It went to No.1 again in 1999 - 3 times. The OCC correctly call the 1999 returns to No.1, 'Re'. But, they got it wrong in 2008, & called it the 849th No.1, when it returned there. Everyhit.com correctly calls it a 'Re' in 2008. So, 'Relapse', by Eminem, is the 870th No.1 Album - not the 871st.....
