Top 100 Singles Artist Countdown
Due to 24/7 Downloads, it is a huge advantage for the 'Singles' Acts of the past 14 Years or so. Now we also have 'Streaming' and that gives 'Big Modern Acts' an even bigger advantage. To stay in the Charts for endless Months and to outscore the 'Old' Acts, who could only stay in the Charts while their Singles were still in the Shops... That is why Ed Sheeran and Rihanna will be very high in this Singles Artist Top 100. The way the Charts work now makes it look like the 'Big Acts' of today are much bigger than the Acts of past Decades. Several Years ago the UK's Best Selling Singles Acts were revealed. The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Cliff Richard were all in the Top 3, with around 20 Million UK Singles Sales. Queen were on about 11 Million and ABBA on about 10 Million. You can see how Downloads and Streaming give 'Modern' Acts an advantage. Last Week Alan Jones announced that Eminem has now sold 30 Million 'Tracks' in the UK. Rihanna is on 38 Million. Ed Sheeran is on 41 Milllion. Those Sales are far, far bigger than The Beatles etc. It is all to do with how the 'Singles' Chart works now. It is the same with the UK's Biggest Singles. If you use Points to work them out, you find that more and more Singles from the past 10 to 15 Years dominate the 'All Time' Top 100. Regarding the Singles Chart. It would be fairer to just use the Top 10, as then all 'Big Acts' get a fair chance to score well. Otherwise, you just find that 'Modern' Acts consistently score more Points than most 'Old' Acts...

Top 100 Albums Countdown
Dannyboy -- The OCC give 'Greatest Hits' by Queen too many Chart Weeks. If you look - carefully - you will see that they have given it the 7 Week Chart Run of 'Greatest Hits I & II' from 1994. W/E 19th November 1994 -- 'Greatest Hits I & II' -- 37-40-50-43-40-39-44 They then have it falling to No.85 on W/E 7th January 1995 and rising to No.83 on W/E 14th January 1995. But, only those No.85 and No.83 Positions actually belong to 'Greatest Hits'. So 'Greatest Hits', (1981), needs to 'lose' 7 Top 100 Weeks, 7 Top 75 Weeks, and 4 Top 40 Weeks. They belong to a 1994 Double Album.

Top 100 Albums Countdown
Dannyboy -- Are the Top 100 Albums scored by an 'Inverse Top 100 Points System'? That's 100 Points for No.1 down to 1 Point for No.100. How did you score the Albums from the time when the Chart was much smaller than a Top 100? Such as in the 1950's and the 1960's?

YTD T40 Albums (with estimated sales)
The 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Soundtrack has sold over 1,540,000 to over 1,550,000 in the UK. Those Sales are since 2008 - inclusive. It has only been allowed into the Main UK Album Chart this Year. It spent 11 Weeks at No.1 in the Compilation Chart and over 30 Weeks at No.1 in the Soundtrack Chart. So its 2018 No.5 Peak in the Main Chart is nothing really. It has outsold 'The Greatest Showman' by several 100,000. Although the 2nd 'Mamma Mia!' Soundtrack is not selling well, it certainly does not mean that the Film is a 'Flop'. The 2nd Film is already the UK's 15th 'All Time' Biggest Box Office Hit. The 1st Film is in 11th place...

Eminem's first Album wasn't 'The Slim Shady LP'. (1999). It was 'Infinite', in November 1996. He sold that from the boot of his car, in Detroit. It only sold around 1,000 copies. By coincidence - Eminem has his 26th No.1 Album Week, in the latest UK Chart and Calvin Harris has his 26th No.1 No.1 Singles Week. Friday Chart Predictions
The 2nd 'Mamma Mia!' Film has its UK Premiere, in London, tonight. It will not be released nation-wide until Friday - 20th July. (Which is when it will be released in most other Countries too). The Soundtrack is currently the 2nd biggest Album in European iTunes and the 1st biggest Album in World iTunes. This is even before the Film is released. It has several ABBA Songs on it that will be new to a lot of people. They will want to see the Film before they buy the Soundtrack. I was not expecting big UK Sales from it until the Film is released. Its entry at No.5 is to be expected. Even 'The Greatest Showman' only entered at No.39. Then it jumped to No.4. it has been No.1 for 21 Weeks, since. More and more people bought it when they saw the Film.

Friday Chart Predictions
I'm not a huge Football Fan, but I've been watching the World Cup. 'Three Lions' could well have a 'boost' from the fact that England Fans are elated that Germany have been knocked out of the World Cup. England sees them as its main rivals. 'Three Lions' should get a 2nd 'boost' if England beat Belgium this evening. The 1996 England Football Single could gain a lot of UK Sales from these World Cup 'Events'. We will see...

Friday Chart Predictions
I only liked 2 Songs in 'Grease 2'. None of the Songs in it were Hit Singles. The 1st 'Grease' had loads of Hit Singles in it, of course. Both 'Mamma Mia!' Films have ABBA Hits in them. I expect that 'Now 100' will outsell the 'Mamma Mia! 2' Soundtrack, on a Week by Week basis. We'll see. It is of no consequence, as the 'Now 100' Album will not be in the Artist Chart - so it will not affect what is at No.1 in that Chart...

Friday Chart Predictions
We'll see if 'Now That's What I Call Music 100' is the biggest UK Seller in that 'series', for a very long time. There is a big hype about it. However, the Track List still hasn't been revealed and the Album is released on Friday 20th July. It will probably outsell most of the UK Artist Albums in 2018 However, it is what happens with the No.1 Position in the Artist Chart that gains the most interest of 'Chart Watchers'.

How long will The Greatest Showman soundtrack stay at #1?
None of the ABBA Songs from the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' Film were big Hits. It is pointless, to try to guess whether Film 2, and its Soundtrack, will be successful, based on how well, (or badly), any 'Singles' from the Film do. In 2008, the 2 biggest UK 'Singles' from Film 1, were Amanda Seyfried & Friends versions of 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!' and 'Honey Honey'. The 1st got no higher than No.91 and the 2nd stalled at No.61. (In the USA, the biggest 'Single' from Film 1 was 'Dancing Queen', by Meryl Streep, and that only reached No.99 in the Hot 100). It didn't stop the Film becoming the 'All Time' biggest Box Office success in the UK. Nor the Soundtrack reaching No.1 in the Compilation Chart for 11 Weeks & the Soundtrack Chart for 30+ Weeks. The Soundtrack is now on over 1,500,000 UK Sales, over 1,800,000 USA Sales & over 7,700,000 Global Sales. In November 2008 the DVD of Film 1 was released. It sold just under 1,670,000 on Day 1 in the UK - almost 3,200,000 in Week 1. It eventually sold over 5 Million in the UK. In the USA it sold 2,250,000 on Day 1. This is despite none of the 'Singles' from the Film being big Hits. Likewise - the 2nd Film and Soundtrack will be a success, no matter how 'small' the 'Singles' from it are. It does not need the 'Singles' off it to be big, any more than Film 1 did in 2008...

YTD T50 Albums (with estimated sales) + Singles (pos only)
Yes - They are only their UK Sales from W/E 12th February 1994 on-wards. The Week that The OCC 'Officially' took over the compiling of the UK Charts. 'ABBA Gold' is really on at least 5,400,000 to 5,450,000 UK Sales - from W/E 3rd October 1992 to W/E 5th April 2018. Another person estimates over 5,600,000 UK Sales for it. For some reason, The OCC have not been up-dating its UK Sales Total, in recent Years. One of their Staff gave it 'Almost' 5,200,000 Sales in Mid July 2016. At the same time time, another one of their Staff gave it 'Almost' 5,300,000 UK Sales. Recently - very recently - they gave it 5,200,000 UK Sales - meaning that they are still giving it their lowest Total, from July 2016. This means that they added in no UK Sales from Mid July 2016, to the end of 2016. Nor any UK Sales from 2017, (91,000). Nor any UK Sales from 2018 - where it will pass 30,000 this Week - W/E 12th April. 'ABBA Gold' will get another UK 'Sales Boost', when the 'Mamma Mia! 2' Film is released, in July.

As Simon, (Suedehead2), says - 'Divide' has achieved its 52nd UK Top 10 Week. It is his 3rd Album to reach a Year in the UK Top 10. 'Plus' managed 56 Weeks & 'Multiply' has tallied 98 Weeks. He becomes the 1st Act to achieve 3 UK Top 10 Albums, with a Year - or more - in the Top 10. No-one else has more than 2 - The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel. So its 3 Top Ten Weeks in 1987 really should also be added in. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ LIST B -- UK ALBUMS -- WITH THE MOST TOP 10 WEEKS (Including Film Soundtracks, Original Cast Albums, & TV Cast Albums) (W/E 28th July 1956 to W/E 8th March 2018) 01) SOUTH PACIFIC (OST) - VARIOUS ARTISTS - 276 (1958) 02) THE SOUND OF MUSIC (OST) - VARIOUS ARTISTS - 233 (1965) 03)=THE KING & I (OST) - VARIOUS ARTISTS - 153 (1956) 03)=WEST SIDE STORY (OST) - VARIOUS ARTISTS - 153 (1961) 05) BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER - SIMON & GARFUNKEL - 135 (1970) 06) MY FAIR LADY (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST) - VARIOUS ARTISTS - 122 (1958) 07) THE BLACK & WHITE MINSTREL SHOW - THE GEORGE MITCHELL MINSTRELS - 120 (1960) 08) OKLAHOMA! Friday Chart Predictions
The OCC probably will add the re-entry of 'Fleetwood Mac' to the Chart Run of the 1960's Peter Green's 'Fleetwood Mac' Album. They have made a similar error with 'Greatest Hits' (One) by Queen. They have mistakenly given it the 7 Top 75/Top 100 Weeks of the Double Queen CD, from 1994. That was a No.37 Hit. So, the 1st Queen 'Hits' Album has 7 Chart Weeks too many. Just as they have The Beatles No.1 Singles Weeks wrong, on part of their Site. They give The Beatles 65 Weeks at No.1, in the UK Singles Chart. It should be 69 Weeks at No.1. They have given 'Get Back', (1969), 2 Weeks at No.1, when it was No.1 for 6 Weeks. On another part of their Site, they correctly give it 6 Weeks at No.1 & the Group 69 Weeks at No.1.

Since it first entered the UK Charts, (W/E 3rd October 1992), 'ABBA Gold' has sold at least 5,400,000 UK copies. Indeed, Gezza gives it an even bigger UK Sale of 5,594,200, to last Friday - 12th January 2018. It depends how many estimated UK Sales you give it for W/E 3rd October 1992 to W/E 5th February 1994. The OCC have full details of its UK Sales from W/E 12th February 1994 to W/E 18th January 2018.

YTD T40 Albums (with estimated sales) + Singles (pos only)
'ABBA Gold' is given 4,619,500 UK Sales in this W/E 18th January 2018 Thread. It is missing many 100,000 UK Sales. On Monday 11th August 2008 Alan Jones said this: "Gold: Greatest Hits sold 38,161 copies last week, and continues to climb closer to the all-time top three albums list. To close of business on August 2, it had sold 4,191,426 copies". Which only gives it 428,074 UK Sales from August 2008 to January 2018. It has clearly sold far more than that, in that period. It sold 410,119 copies in 2008, 248,500 in 2009, 150,900 in 2010, 95,400 in 2011, 81,300 in 2012, 77,250 in 2013, 70,300 in 2014, 84,000 in 2015, 88,500 in 2016 & 91,000 in 2017. Plus 5,500 - so far - in 2018. With 'Mamma Mia 2' coming out in late July, 'ABBA Gold' is sure to sell over 100,000 UK copies, by the end of 2018. Even though most of the ABBA Songs in the 2nd Film will be from 'More ABBA Gold', & various ABBA Studio Albums.
