As 'ABBA Gold' has risen from No.97 to No.68 in the UK I've up-dated some of my Lists. THE TOP 200 -- I believe that 'Gold' has 1043 Top 200 Weeks. The OCC says 972 Weeks, as it only starts counting from about February 1994 when it began doing the UK Charts. 'Gold' had already had 71 Top 200 weeks by then. 972 + 71 = 1043 Weeks. 3. According to Dan Wootton, in today's 'The Sun', One Direction have already signed up to be on the Band Aid 30 Single. He says that with them singing on it, it will be as huge as the previous Band Aid Singles. Maybe even outselling them. (He thinks One Direction are bigger than they really are, both in the UK & Globally).

12 - Or More - Weeks to reach No.1 - Other re-issued old Hits that reached No.1 were:, Leonardo - 'Let's Get Ready' to Rhumble by PJ And Duncan, (Ant & Dec), reached No.9 in 1994, & spent 11 Weeks on the Chart. In 2013 it re-entered - at No.1 - as a Download. It was its 12th Chart Week. 'Unchained Melody' - Righteous Brothers. Their cover of the 1955 Hit was a No.14 Hit in 1965. It spent 12 Weeks on the Chart. In 1990 it was re-issued due to featuring in 'Ghost'. It re-entered at No.3. It was No.1 the next Week. It was its 14th Chart Week - 12 in 1965 + the first 2 of its 1990 Weeks. '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo?' - Tony Christie. It spent 13 Weeks on the Chart between 1971 & 1972. It Peaked at No.18 in early 1972. In 2005 it re-entered at No.1. It was its 14th Chart Week. (Although the 2005 No.1 'Features Peter Kay', he only mimes in the Video. The actual No.1 is exactly the same recording as it was in 1971/1972. Amarillo is a real Town in Texas. It means Yellow in Spanish). 'Imagine' - John Lennon. A No.6 Hit in 1975, & 11 Chart Weeks. When he died in late 1980, it re-entered at No.9, & was No.1 in early 1981. It was its 3rd Week into its 1980/1981 re-entry & its 14th Chart Week. (It had actually been a USA No.3 Hit in 1971. For some reason it did not become a UK Single until 1975). Young At Heart - The Bluebells. A No.8 Hit in 1984 - 12 Chart Weeks. No.1 in its 2nd Chart Week, as a 1993 Re-Issue. It was its 14th Chart Week.

The 2014 Children In Need Single is a Various Artists version of the Beach Boys 1966 UK No.2 Hit 'God Only Knows'. It has a host of big Acts in it, & it is certainly going to be No.1. (It may even reach a UK Million Sale). However, I don't think it is as good as the Beach Boys original. LINK:, GOD ONLY KNOWS - VARIOUS ARTISTS XqLTe8h0-jo

Many people say that nothing much happened Chart-wise in 1974. But March 1974 saw Queen have their 1st Hit, ('Seven Seas Of Rhye'), & April 1974 saw ABBA have their 1st Hit. ('Waterloo'). And both Groups still have Hit Albums in 2014.
  8. Col1967 - 'Love Is All Around' by Wet Wet Wet was No.1 for 15 Weeks in 1994 - not 14. It is pretty amazing that the Single with the most No.1 Weeks was in 1953, & it has never been beaten. That was 'I Believe' by Frankie Laine, which had 18 No.1 Weeks. It needed 3 'Runs' at No.1 to get them - 9, 6 & 3.

Bré - No matter that 'Legend' is back in the Top 10 due to a price discount, I've checked, & it is the 'Deluxe' Edition that has the price discount. So it has Bonus Tracks - compared to the Tracks that it had in 1984, when it spent 12 Weeks at No.1 & 20 Weeks in the Top 10. As long as the Top 10 Re-Entry has added Tracks, I show it via the @@@ Symbols.

The OCC are saying that 'Lovers On The Sun' is David Guetta's 5th No.1 Single. They are not counting his No.1 with Flo Rida in 2010 - 'Club Can't Handle Me'. That is because he was 'Featured' on that one. I do count that as a David Guetta No.1. As long as an Artist is credited on a No.1 Hit they are entitled to have it counted as one of their No.1's. If you look, you will see that The OCC give Rihanna 8 No.1 Hits, even though she was 'only' the 'Featured' Artist on 2 of those - 'Run This Town' - Jay-Z Featuring Rihanna And Kanye West, (2009), & 'The Monster' - Eminem Featuring Rihanna (2013). http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/_/rihanna/ It is terribly inconsistent if The OCC count some 'Featured' Artist No.1's as belonging to each credited Act, but do not do so with other Acts No.1's that they are credited on.....just because they are 'Featured'.

'Legend' is one of only 3 Albums to spend more than 600 Weeks in the UK Top 100:, UK ALBUMS WITH THE MOST TOP 100 WEEKS 1) Gold - Greatest Hits - ABBA - 688 Weeks 2) Greatest Hits - Queen - 677 Weeks 3) Legend - Bob Marley & The Wailers - 659 Weeks 4) Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - 577 Weeks 5) Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf - 524 Weeks It is the 4th Most Top 75 Weeks Album & 'Rumours' is 5th:, UK ALBUMS WITH THE MOST TOP 75 WEEKS 1) Gold - Greatest Hits - ABBA - 469 Weeks 2) Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf - 451 Weeks 3) Greatest Hits - Queen - 434 Weeks 4) Legend - Bob Marley & The Wailers - 419 Weeks 5) Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - 411 Weeks And from August 1981 to January 1989 the entire Top 100 was counted. 'Legend' gained 30 Chart Weeks from that time. 'Greatest Hits' by Queen gained 62 Weeks, 'Rumours' gained 112 Weeks, & 'Bat Out Of Hell' gained 34 Weeks. You add them to their Top 75 Weeks to find the Top 5 Albums with the most UK Chart Weeks:, UK ALBUMS WITH THE MOST CHART WEEKS 1) Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - 523 Weeks 2) Greatest Hits - Queen - 496 Weeks 3) Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf - 485 Weeks 4) Gold - Greatest Hits - ABBA - 469 Weeks 5) Legend - Bob Marley & The Wailers - 449 Weeks And I also worked out how many Top 75 Weeks Albums 1, 2, 3, & 5 would have if Various Artist & Film Soundtrack Albums were removed from the Top 75 from August 1981 to January 1989. Even with their extra Top 75 Weeks 'ABBA Gold' is still in 1st place: UK ALBUMS WITH THE MOST TOP 75 WEEKS - REVISED 1) Gold - Greatest Hits - ABBA - 469 Weeks 2) Greatest Hits - Queen - 461 Weeks (It gains 27 ‘extra’ Top 75 Weeks) 3) Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf - 459 Weeks (It gains 8 ‘extra’ Top 75 Weeks) 4) Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - 453 Weeks (It gains 42 ‘extra’ Top 75 Weeks) 5) Legend - Bob Marley & The Wailers - 425 Weeks (It gains 6 ‘extra’ Top 75 Weeks)

So we have had Ella Henderson's Ghost at No.1 in the 2014 Singles Chart, & Coldplay's Ghost Stories at No.1 in the 2014 Albums Chart. You'd think that having a Ghost Title at No.1 - in both Charts - in the same Calendar Year, is unique. It isn't. It was also done in an earlier Year. 1981 - In July 1981 The Specials had a 3 Week No.1 Single with Ghost Town. In October 1981 The Police had a 3 Week No.1 Album with Ghost In The Machine.

Throughout last Week the 3 Led Zeppelin Albums were in the Top 10, with their 1st Album at No.4. So I did 2 lots of Chart Trivia about it. 1) That they were only the 13th Act to have 3, (or more), Top 10 Albums in the same Chart. 2) And only the 5th British Act to achieve it. (The other 4 - The George Mitchell Minstrels, David Bowie, The Beatles, & Amy Winehouse). Also, the No.4 Position of the 1st Led Zeppelin Album meant that it had reached its Peak Position - after reaching No.6 in 1969. 3) It meant that it had taken 45 Years & 2 Months to reach both its Peak & the Top 5. Longer than any other Album ever. 4) Beating the previous 'Record Holder' - Off The Wall by Michael Jackson, which took 29 Years & 10 Months to Peak at No.3 in 2009, after getting to No.5 in 1979. After all that, it turns out that none of my Chart Trivia was valid, as the 3 Led Zeppelin Albums had all dropped by the time today's Chart was published - No.7, No.10, & No.12. So, Off The Wall remains the Album that took the longest time to reach its Peak. (It is also the Album that took the longest to reach the Top 3). I guess that the 1st Led Zeppelin Album holds one Chart Record, now that it is back in the Top 10. It is the longest gap between an Album last being in the Top 10, (May 1969), & that Album returning to the Top 10. Just over 45 Years.

In a few of the UK Mid Weeks, Happy by Pharrell Williams, was back in the Top 10, at No.10. But not the most No.2 Weeks by any No.1 Hit. The 1952 to 1953 No.1, (1 Week), ‘You Belong To Me’ by Jo Stafford, spent 9 Weeks at No.2. Two other No.1 Hits have also spent 8 Weeks at No.2. They are both from 1954. ‘Such A Night’ by Johnnie Ray, spent 1 Week at No.1, & then fell to No.2, where it stayed for 8 consecutive Weeks - the most consecutive No.2 Weeks ever. Kitty Kallen’s ‘Little Things Mean A Lot’ was also a 1 Week No.1, & that also spent 8 Weeks at No.2. **** = Some people do not combine the Chart Feats of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in 1975 with those of 1991. This is because in 1991 it was a Double ‘A’ Side with ‘These Are The Days Of Our Lives’. However, the fact remains that ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was a No.1 Hit in both the 1970’s & the 1990’s, so it is only right that their Chart Statistics should be combined. After all, the Sales of the 2 releases are combined. That is why it is the UK’s 3rd Best Selling Single, with over 2,400,000 Sales - when its Downloads are added in.…

    1) In the numerous UK Chart Trivia Lists, that I compile, I credit a No.1 Hit to each Act that is credited, (named), on it. So the DJ Fresh Feat. Rita Ora No.1 I count as being a No.1 Hit for each of them. 2) As regards the 2011 X Factor Finalists No.1 - 'Wishing On A Star' - both JLS & One Direction were given a named credit on it from the day it was released. So I count it as one of JLS's 6 UK No.1 Singles & 1 of One Directions 4 UK No.1 Singles. http://goo.gl/QOBxE1 3) One Direction were also on the 2010 X Factor Finalists No.1 - a cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes'. I do not credit it as a One Direction No.1 because they were not credited with it. It can only be credited to the 2010 X Factor Finalists. 4) In 1983 Michael Jackson Plus The Jackson 5 had a UK No.1 Album with '18 Greatest Hits'. 8 of the Tracks were by Michael on his own, & the other 10 were by the Jackson 5. I count it as a Michael Jackson No.1 Album, (one of his 10), & also as a No.1 Album for the Jackson 5. (Their only UK No.1 Album). 5) Always I go by which Acts have a named credit on a No.1 Single or No.1 Album. What I do not do is work out how much each Act sang on the No.1, in order to give Percentage Points to the Acts involved. It is messy to do that & it is far easier to simply give each Act - named in the credits - an equal claim to that No.1.

Dobbo - In 1974 there was never a Week when all 4 ESC Hits were in the Top 40 at the same time. In the Download Era a Single does not need to be in UK Stores to be a Hit. In 1974 they could only be Hits if they were in UK Stores. It took a few Weeks for all 4 Entries to be in the Shops at the same time. They were all in the Top 50 on W/E 4th May - ABBA at No.1, Mouth And MacNeal at No.43, Gigliola at No.46, & Olivia Newton-John at No.49. As Olivia's was the UK Entry it had already been in the Top 50 for 8 Weeks by then. Its No.49 Position was its final UK Chart Week. The remaining 3 ESC Hits from 1974 were first in the Top 40 together on W/E 18th May - ABBA at No.2, Gigliola at No.22, & Mouth And MacNeal at No.29. They never managed to be in the Top 10 together, but they were all in the Top 20 at the same time on W/E 25th May - ABBA at No.6, Gigliola at No.16, & Mouth And MacNeal at No.18. And again on W/E 1st June - Gigliola at No.8, Mouth And MacNeal at No.12, & ABBA at No.15. So W/E 24th May 2014 is the first time that as many as 4 ESC Entries have been in the UK Top 40 at the same time.

Bre - You've missed out his 1983 No.1 '18 Greatest Hits' which was credited to Michael Jackson Plus The Jackson 5. It contained 8 of Michael's Solo Hits & 10 Hits by the Jackson 5. The OCC also count it as a Michael No.1. It is counted as a No.1 Album for both Acts. http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/_/michael%20jackson/ It was No.1 for 3 Weeks.
